14+ years in martial arts: Chen Tai Chi

Tai Chi Chuan is a personal favorite of mine which I have devoted over 5 + years of study to, in addition to multiple styles of Kung Fu. If you want to learn the original form of Tai Chi direct from Chen Village (in a traditional manner) then you have found your instructor.

Daniel adapted throughout the course of the hour-long lesson to understand what I already knew and find appropriate ways to fill in the gaps of my knowledge. He also started me on the process of learning a new approach when looking at and learning to play new music pieces.

I teach traditional Yang style taijiquan, as well as Moving For Better Balance (MFBB), which are modified Yang tai chi exercises intended to help older adults improve their balance and reduce their risk of falls. I am a certified MFBB faculty trainer, also, so I can help MFBB teachers improve their teaching skills.

I wanted someone to help me with alignment and to give me some poses for areas I was trying to open up. Amanda came prepped with a routine and gave me some great alignment tips that I am still using. She also sent me an email with the routine and instructions the next morning. She was very thoughtful and did a great job.

Tai Chi is a form of “moving meditation” practiced with slow, relaxed, and flowing movements. Improve muscle tone, circulation and physical endurance with meditative postures that strengthen your mental focus. I teach Chen and Yang Tai Chi. All levels are welcome.

I have been taking Liam's Tai Chi/ Qi Gong class for nearly two years now. He is a dynamic teacher that is sensitive to different types of learning paces and styles (both eastern and western) and employs both in his classes. His explanations are simple and he always relates the movement back to its origin as a martial arts defense/offensive move which helps one establish the intention behind the movement. I have learned yang short form and chen style short form from him. I would highly recommend that you take his class if you are interested in beginning or continuing a tai chi practice. Through my practice I have found a healthy way to manage stress and anxiety.
