Lessons and Classes
The MFC fencing program consists of a combination of private lessons, group classes, open bouting, camps and tournaments.
Recreational fencers typically attend one to two times per week while competitive fencers attend three to four times per week.
Classes for musketeers (4-6) and beginner adults(18+) are 1 hr in length, all equipment is provided.
Classes for beginner and intermediate youth fencers are 1.5 hrs in length. All intermediate fencers must have their own electric equipment.
Classes for competitive and elite fencers are 2 hrs in length. All fencers this level must have their own electric equipment.
Lessons are one on one with the coach for 20 or 40 minute intervals.
Club members can sign up for lessons using their online accounts.
I began fencing in High School and studied privately with John Geraci, fencing Master at West Point Military Academy. I have taught fencing at Wyoming Seminary, Western Wayne HS and the Fencing Exchange in Scranton, PA At this time I am available for private instruction. In January 2015 I will be opening a fencing club in North East PA
I can teach sword/fencing skills for the rapier, long sword, arming sword, pole arm, dagger, and teach historically accurate swordplay from England, Spain, Germany, and Italy.
Students can expect lessons tailored to their individual strengths and weaknesses, as well as a course that covers: introductory fencing skills, like basic footwork and bladework; Intermediate fencing skills, including tempo management and different offensive and defensive bladework of varying complexity; Advanced fencing skills, like feints, opposition attacks, etc.
I've been teaching fencing for 4 years and my students have gone on to [student accomplishments]. Within the few lessons, you'll be able to attack and defend and as time goes on you'll be able to fence competitively. I specialize in sabe love working with students of all ages and experience levels and I can't wait to meet you!
