All levels of Western and English Riding at Private Ranch

About Kathy

I have been around horses my whole life, and began training and showing Quarter Horses in the 1990's. I have been offering riding lessons since the year 2000 at my private ranch near Poway, CA. I am a Life Member of the American Quarter Horse Association (AQHA) and a member of the National Reined Cowhorse Association (NRCHA). I have gentle, seasoned horses for beginners as well as former show horses for more advanced riders. I teach from the ground up...ground manners, anatomy, grooming, saddling and riding. I am looking forward to working with you!

I wanted to try something new over the weekend, so I bought 2 horseback lessons - one for me and one for my girlfriend. What an AWESOME way to spend a Saturday afternoon. We had a great time learning the basics of riding and we'll be back again. Thanks Kathy for a great lesson!

I signed up for a horseback riding lesson in San Diego with my girlfriend on July 5 2014. We just wanted to try something new. Kathy was awesome! We learned how to brush the horse, how to saddle up, and how to take the horse from walking to trotting. We'll certainly do it again sometime. Thanks TakeLessons and Kathy!

About Amanda

Hello! My name is Amanda! I'm graduated from college last year with a degree in Arts, specifically Photography. I adored my photo classes, specializing in both dark room and digital photography. I was a teaching assistant for photography at my college and back at my high school for about four years. I loved assisting in the dark room and Mac labs, it gave me a chance to get a ton of extra practice in while allowing me to help other students. I love writing, and have been working editing and writing myself since high school. I'd be happy to help edit or work on creative writing. I was also a horse back rider for sixteen years. I am experienced in both disciplines as well as carriage driving. No equipment provided unfortunately, if you want a hand with that I'd have to come to ...

I taught elementary and intermediate Spanish for two years at the University of New Mexico while I completed my coursework for a master's degree in Latin American Studies. I have a student-centered approach and have many resources to help you with your language acquisition goals. About Marcel

I work as a tutor and mentor in many of those fields for years. It was and is a side business, but I always enjoyed teaching. I am looking forward to move on with you and / or your kids. Have a great day, Marcel Update 02/10/15: Takelessons is a great way to teach and a fantastic and easy way to learn for students. I currently have 3 students per week, with several hours. I really enjoy it, either online via Skype or Facetime or Live at the students place. Hit me up and let's move something together.

Laura R. Denver, CO

I teach a solid foundation of horsemanship using tried-and-true classical principles of equitation. Students can choose either English or Western, or I can make a recommendation. My lessons focus on safety and fun, and I have a wonderful 21-year-old Arabian mare as a lesson horse who takes great care of her beginner riders but is still a challenge for more experienced ones. I also teach students about equine care and stewardship.

About Laura

As an expert in language pedagogy, I can provide instruction for Spanish or English as a second language, and I also have experience tutoring college-level English composition and literature. What sets me apart from other Spanish instructors is my intimate familiarity with numerous regional dialects and extensive knowledge of different cultures and registers, meaning I can teach a more universal Spanish rather than one that is regionally specific. I am versatile in the type of instruction I can offer so that I can help students pursue a wide range of goals, from purely functional oral competency to more in-depth grammatical, syntactical, and linguistic understanding. I can accommodate virtually all learning styles and am prepared to address any learning challenges or obstacles students ...

Julia D. Los Angeles, CA

I have been riding horses for over 15 years, primarily as a hunter-jumper student, and later as captain of my collegiate equestrian team. I have a bonded, natural horsemanship approach to general equitation skills, and I love working with students to develop their comfort and abilities on and off the saddle.

About Julia

Hi there! My name is Julia, and I am a professional tutor based in Los Angeles. I am a lifelong learner and bibliophile, and love nothing more than helping to make knowledge accessible and entertaining for my students. I have been tutoring on a volunteer and professional basis for about seven years now. You'll be amazed at what you can learn to enjoy, and how quickly your memory can improve, with some simple tricks, practice, and true-to-life explanations. I graduated with honors from Kenyon College in 2013, with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Anthropology, Bachelor of Arts degree in English, and a minor in Integrated Humane Studies. Aside from researching, reading, and tutoring, I enjoy horseback riding, painting, singing, and running. My teaching style is conversational, casual, and ...
