I began taking French lessons with Roula about three months ago and I think she’s a wonderful teacher. The materials she’s prepared herself are clear and instructive; and I like that the other learning platforms she uses have interactive elements that are great for practice between lessons. She tailors her lessons to your skill level, and I can say from experience that she’s very patient with beginners. She’s very nice, and very smart! I highly recommend her!

About Jacqueline
Hi, I'm Jacqueline and I specialize in French tutoring for students of all ages. I have taught over 120 French students at all levels including beginners, AP students, and adult learners. I work with each student to create a program tailored to their individual goals and needs. I can help you with all aspects of French including grammar, conversation, vocabulary, and overall fluency.

When it comes to learning French, I believe that speaking experience is just as important as learning grammar and vocabulary. I emphasize speaking skills and give students the opportunity to practice this throughout my lessons. For students who need help with grammar (one of the trickiest things to learn in French!), I use my experience both as a student and teacher to simplify difficult concepts.

Our family has found Jacqueline to be an awesome tutor for our high school daughter. Not only is she kind, thorough and patient, but Jacqueline always makes it a point to find out what the local high school teachers are teaching and what methods they're using. She has a very friendly and approachable manner and loves what she teaches.

I have a B.A. in French from Texas A&M University, I studied abroad in Switzerland. I have experience as a high school French tutor.

I specialize in beginners and people who want to work on minimizing their American accents when learning French.

About Kathren
I'm a grad student at George Washington University who just moved to the DC area from Chicago, and I'm originally from Texas.

I'm a maker who specializes in sewing but I dabble in many other media. I learned everything I know by choosing a project and learning what I needed to to complete that project in a way that I was satisfied with. I have very high expectations of myself so I'd say I am pretty good at what I do and proud of the work I have done. I've also made a lot of mistakes so I know how to help people work through problems.

I'm a massive nerd who loves helping other nerds realize their nerdy dreams so let me help you!

The first thing I want to know is what the student wants help with and then we go from there. I taught middle school French for many years, tutored French once I retired in Maryland, have lived in France for two years and love teaching a subject I'm passionate about. My students tell me that I explain things in terms they can understand and that they love how excited I am about French. "It's contagious!" They also enjoy the anecdotes I share about French culture and traveling in France. I am also a travel writer and wrote a book about my travels, "Gap Year Girl: A Baby Boomer Adventure Across 21 Countries."

About Marianne
I am passionate about French and all things French and I love helping students learn or improve their skills. I explain things clearly so that students understand, I am patient and I make learning French fun rather than a chore. It can be intimidating to learn another language and I understand that very well as I have been improving my French since I was in high school. I structure my lesson plans specifically around what a student wants to learn and how s/he wants to learn it. We will go as slow or fast through the material as you'd like,

I was a Fresh major in college, did graduate work in France, worked for a French company and taught middle school French for many years. I loved being a teacher and I loved my students! I led several student trips to France and I treasure those experiences. One of my former French students wrote to
me when I retired: "You are the best teacher I ever had. You and your class were the only bright spots in all of middle school and I will never forget what you taught me."

I have also taught adults planning to travel to France or who are simply interested the basics of the language as well as cultural tips.

I would love to meet and help you!

I wanted to learn French for a business trip, but I was dreading it because I struggled with languages so much in high school. After working with Marianne, I was pleasantly surprised with how much easier it was than I expected. She really adapted to me and helped me figure out the best ways to learn. And she's very patient. Highly recommend!

Incroyable! Marianne has the patience of a saint! She loves French and teaching and it shows in how she worked with me. I really appreciate her creative approach in making the language come to life which makes it so much easier. And she tailors her lessons to what you want and how you best learn. If you want to learn French, I highly recommend working with Madame Bohr!

Madame Bohr is by far one of the best instructors I’ve ever had. She truly cares about her students, and does everything that she can to make sure that they fully comprehend the material. She made learning French not only simple and straight-forward, but even fun. I would most definitely recommend her to anybody interested in learning the language!

Bonjour!

I grew up about twenty minutes from the border with France and got to go there regularly from early on. I started learning French when I was 12 and started teaching it when I was 15 because, believe it or not, I enjoy the sometimes weird grammatical complexities of French.

At university I took advanced classes to continue learning and when I went to study in Canada I lived in a shared house with six native speakers of Canadian and European French. This year I spent the spring in Morocco and Togo where I got to experience two more varieties French.

I consider myself highly Francophile, enjoy reading in French and take pleasure in teaching it. Explaining grammar, spelling, pronunciation and difficult features of the language are my assets as I have been largely successful in sharing them with students, friends and acquaintances over the years.

Allons-y! :)

About Viktor
Hola, hallo, olá, ciao and bonjour !

My name is Viktor Malu and I'm a well-traveled linguist who is passionate about the nature and manifold applications of language. I have either lived or spent significant time in places where the languages I speak are alive and I strive to spark linguistic enthusiasm in the people around me. I have a talent for using existing knowledge of language, which we all have, even unknowingly, to make learning or improving a new language easier. Languages are vivid, fun, and adventurous, they often require patience and thrive with motivation - just like my classes!

I have recently graduated in Applied Intercultural Linguistics (B.A.) from the University of Augsburg, Germany. This is an interdisciplinary program that includes linguistic theory and practice as well as didactics and cultural studies. It allowed
me to spend two years studying and living in the English-, Spanish- and French-speaking Americas and Portugal.

I started tutoring in English, French and Spanish when I was 15 and have continued teaching languages professionally and as a volunteer in a variety of settings, such as a private tutoring institute, a secondary school in Costa Rica, at university (phonetics and phonology), at an NGO's school for refugees and at a language school for adults and young professionals.

Let me be your source of knowledge, experience, wisdom and enthusiasm! Ready to tap in?
