Due to my enthusiasm for Foreign languages, I am fluent in French and can read Russian, German, and Spanish. French was my minor and chemistry was my major. I was elected to the Phi Beta Kappa honor society based on my achievements in the fields of chemistry and French. I have also enhanced my fluency in French by traveling abroad, including residing in France at the University of Poitiers as well as traveling abroad to Paris, Brussels, and Calais. I look forward to spreading my enthusiasm for foreign languages to others.

Bonjour! I was born and raised in France. Several of my students have learnt and practiced French with me for 5+ years. I focus on your very needs, either using your methodology, or any other. I can recommend at least one 45 to 60-minute lesson per week; or two 30-minute lessons per week. I suggest websites and books. I provide complementary support to Rosetta Stone and various foreign language learning apps such as Babbel or Duolingo.

Just finished my 4th class with Isabelle. She has been very helpful with my French conversation. She meets me at my level and then challenges me. She speaks clearly and at a speed I can understand. The notes after the lesson are excellent and help me to continue my learning. I highly recommend Isabelle!
Brian
"Listener" is how I would describe Isabelle, and it's why she is a great teacher. I brought a lot of random questions into lessons each week and she helped me with all of the answers. She also used the answers to my questions to show me further examples to be able to help me frame why things were the way they were. This is my first French teacher but I couldn't be happier with the time I've gotten from Isabelle. I would highly recommend her as a teacher.

Bonjour et Enchanté

My name is Fabrice and I am excited that you are considering French lessons with me.

French is not just a beautiful language, it is a culture and people rich in Liberté, Egalité, and Fraternité. With all of my students, we not only explore the richness of the language but also the expansiveness and depth of the culture, people, and of course the country.

I am confident in my ability to help you learn French in easy and fun lessons. I have helped students of all ages, most of whom have little to no experience with the language. Today, many of these, same, students are well versed in conversational French and able to read, write, speak, and explore the language and culture in ways they didn’t imagine. I have also worked with students who have a good understanding of the language and wish to brush-up on their skills or work to perfect the language as a native speaker.

I apply numerous strategies that will depend on how you like to learn, however, I ...

Fabrice is the ultimate French teacher. He’s a native speaker who brings, not only language, but wonderful tidbits of French culture to learning experience. He has geared tutoring sessions to meet my needs and interests. He is knowledgeable, interesting and funny. You won’t be disappointed!

I started taking French lessons with Fabrice three years ago when I was planning a trip to France to visit my in-law’s. After about three weeks, I had the confidence and basic language skills to feel comfortable speaking to native French speakers. About one month before my trip, I was speaking French pretty much fluently. Fabrice is personable, kind and very passionate about teaching French. His strategies, weekly challenges and attention to detail really have made this an enjoyable experience that I have continued with him for the past 3 years. Merci beaucoup Fabrice for being an awesome, qualified and competent French teacher. I recommend Fabrice without hesitation.

I have been taught French by Fabrice for over a year. After trying several different ways and programs to learn French over the past 4 years, I now know how valuable a good teacher in a foreign language is. I chose Fabrice on purpose because he is French and has a French accent that is easy to understand. He is awesome! Fabrice is always meeting my need where it is with written, spoken, and visual aids along with tips and shortcuts where appropriate. He is very astute at assessing my weaknesses and building on my strengths and always patient. I am not only learning the language, I am learning the culture. Fabrice is highly recommended!

I'm working with her to get better at conversational French and she has great advice for how to improve outside of class (recommending some specific French shows, trying to watch them with French subtitles), along with doing an amazing job in class! She is great at challenging me - we'll start talking on a specific topic but she doesn't "let go" after just 1-2 sentences, she really tries to go deep. French Lessons in Phoenix, AZ

By Julie M. - Phoenix French Teacher

My name is Julie M., and I have just moved to Phoenix from Brussels, Belgium, a small country in Europe located just north of France. Before moving to Phoenix, I wanted to make sure I found local resources for French speakers. I browsed Google to try to find ways to meet people, and I came across a site called Meetup.com (http://www.meetup.com/).

I love the idea behind Meetup! There are over 20 million people involved in Meetup groups in about 180 countries around the world - people who love to garden, hike, walk their dogs together…you name it!

The registration process was very straight forward, and in just minutes, I created a profile with my interests (wanting to meet fellow French speakers) and my preferred location (Phoenix)

...

. From then on, the site suggested a list of groups I might be interested in joining.

After joining a group, I have met people who are interested in learning French and want to practice what they’ve learned in their French lessons in Phoenix. The activities range from going to happy hour, having a dinner together, joining a wine tasting, watching a French movie at someone’s house…the possibilities are endless. I found out that there is a small community of French speakers in the Valley (either native speakers or people wanting to learn this beautiful language), which is pretty awesome. It’s a good way to not lose your French. You can also help people learn or improve their French practice and make great friends!

I joined The North Phoenix French Speakers Meetup and The Scottsdale French Speakers group. Other than those groups, be sure to check out The Phoenix French Language and Culture Meetup (which accepts younger students) and The Phoenix French Language Meetup group.

From a student’s perspective, I think that these groups are a great, informal type of learning experience. Don’t get me wrong: taking French lessons in Phoenix is important to get the basics right! However, by participating in these groups, you can get a hands-on practice of what you have learned in class with other native speakers, which adds a tremendous value to your learning process.

From a teacher’s viewpoint, I find it very fulfilling to help and encourage students to perfect the foreign language that they desire to speak. It gives a great insight on what newbies are striving to improve, whether it be pronunciation, sentence structuring, meanings of words within a certain context or just getting over the fear of making mistakes and just talk.

I really encourage you to get involved in these groups. You may even want to consider joining a group and making it grow! You can also create your own community in a few easy steps: you just have to commit to create a real, face-to-face community. See you soon in one of the groups in Phoenix, dear students!

What Are the Differences Between Quebecois and French?

French is a language that has reached over 25 countries and touched many cultures over the centuries. It was the lingua franca before English overtook it, and still remains a formidable language in the international community. Perhaps one of the places on which it maintains a significant stronghold is in Quebec, Canada, and certainly Quebecois is the most well known French-speaking former colony.
