My son is a BEGINNER beginner. Rodrigo is a very nice guy and seems to know his stuff very well. I would give him 5 stars but I don't think he realized that my son needed the basic, basic 1st lesson (i.e. how to hold the instrument). We've only attended one session so this is fully based on that one lesson. I'm sure he'll adjust his teaching from here on out.

I first heard Spanish from my dad who's Colombian, so my lessons focus on communication via dynamic task-based activities! First you discover grammar functions & the meaning of vocab through simple comprehension activities. Then we practice these new items through conversation questions or communication activities that simulate real-life tasks like ordering food, asking for directions, or describing a person. This creates a fun atmosphere for learning and gives students ample opportunities to speak! I also like to use multimedia like videos, pictures and powerpoints to make lessons more interactive, especially online lessons! For beginners, I use the book Spanish Demystified or Easy Spanish Step by Step as a learning resource and to provide grammar homework.

Besides speaking, my lessons also cover the other aspects of a language: Reading, writing and listening comprehension. I target those skills with activities such as short readings & writing assignments for homework, and themed ...

About Christy
I was exposed to Spanish throughout my childhood from my dad who is from Colombia, and from my great Spanish teachers. After minoring in it at college, I perfected my fluency from living in Spain for 2 years and studying it for 18 years! My adventures with the language led me to pursue an MA in Spanish. I am currently a PhD student in Spanish Literature and work as a university instructor for Spanish conversation. I've also been tutoring individual and small groups of all levels for the past 5 years - Young children, high schoolers, college students, and adult learners! I enjoy leading creative, interactive lessons that are different for each student I work with. My students have gone on to pursue bilingual positions, live in South America, or improve their performance in Spanish class by 2+ letter grades! I truly enjoy the work I do in
helping others learn an important new skill.

Because I became fluent while immersed in the language, I believe language learning comes from speaking and communicating! So, my lessons focus mainly on speaking. I create interactive activities that help students learn speaking skills like making comparisons or ordering food. I also make sure to cover other aspects of the language (grammar, listening comprehension, reading, and writing) through explanations, in-class activities and homework. But, every lesson I teach is different! I tailor them to each student according to level, goals, pace, and learning style. And I make sure to get feedback from students at the end of each lesson to help plan future lessons. Overall, I am a resourceful, enthusiastic, attentive and creative tutor. I strive to challenge students while creating a comfortable and fun learning environment. Students of any level are welcome!

I look forward to possibly working with you... ¡Hasta pronto!

I appreciate her willingness to accommodate me and my schedule and, although I have only had 1 lesson so far, can feel that I am already growing in knowledge and confidence. I really like that she gives me assignments I can work on between lessons so that I can make the most of my lesson time with her.

Mastering fundamentals is extremely important when learning a language. I will tailor the lesson to your needs. We'll begin with mastering the sounds of each letter, then move on to common words, phrases, and simple conversations. Whether it's for travel, leisure, or work, practicing is key. Once you get your footing, we'll expand your vocabulary and understanding of grammar.

About Joy
I am a graduate of UC San Diego (bachelor of arts, sociology) and UCLA (master of public policy). As a child of immigrant parents, I value diversity and love learning languages. I read, write and speak Spanish fluently, and have intermediate command of both Cantonese and Mandarin Chinese in reading, writing, and speech.

Photography has been one of my main areas of focus for over ten years. I am trained in both film and digital formats and specialize in demystifying the DSLR so that you gain a good understanding of manual settings and how to use each to improve your photos.

Caring, compassion, and understanding are essential for learning and I strive to do my best in these areas.

Zaray has been my teacher for over 4 years and has been amazing! She taught me mostly everything about music and helped me get accepted into one of the best schools in Florida. I took singing lessons and piano lessons that helped me learn a lot, because of her I was able to preform in new York and attend the All-state elementary choir. Overall an excellent teacher, I really recommend!

Zaray has done such great work. She really takes the time to diagnose the problem with her stellar ear and to prescribe the best exercises to enhance the vocal mechanism. Not only does she have an abundant technical vocabulary, she really personalizes her style of teaching for each student. Apart from being technically a wizard, she is one of the most joyful people to be around. Her calm demeanor and easy going self really makes a student of every level comfortable. I highly recommend!!

If you're looking for top-tier, enjoyable, results-driven tutoring, send me a message. I've been helping students ace their next Spanish exam, paper, project, or standardized test, for over 10 years. But more importantly, I build lasting relationships with my students – meeting on a regular basis; covering all aspects of skill-building, test prep, and organization; and acting as a consistent presence in the student's life. I currently tutor high school students in New York at Horace Mann, Riverdale, Trinity, Collegiate, and Dwight Englewood, as well as adults and younger students.

About Jesse
I'm a professional Spanish and English tutor with over 10 years of experience teaching at the high school, middle school, and college levels.

I hold a masters degree from Harvard University, a Bachelors degree in Spanish language and Political Science, and a teaching certificate from the Fulbright Scholarship program.

I currently tutor high school students in New York at Horace Mann, Riverdale, Trinity, Collegiate, The United Nations School, and Dwight Englewood.

I help students of every age ace their next Spanish or English exam, paper, or standardized test.

But just as important, I build lasting relationships with my students based on mutual trust and respect. My students come away from tutoring sessions energized, with a sense of confidence and motivation. I believe that meetings with a tutor should be enjoyable, and they
should inspire students to work smart and work hard.

After studying at the University of Havana, in Cuba, I wrote peer-reviewed research, which was published in the journal "Cuba in Transition." A year later, I was awarded a Fulbright grant to teach and conduct research in Montevideo, Uruguay. There, I worked with the U.S. Embassy to create a series of new language courses in public schools.

I speak and write fluently in Spanish. But as a native English speaker, I've learned the Spanish language from the ground up, just like my students.

For both English and Spanish I am an expert in test prep, essay composition, IB/AP, and SAT II.

If you're looking for top-tier, enjoyable, results-driven tutoring, send me a message.

A knowledgeable and patient educator, Jesse has found a teaching style that perfectly balances challenge and inspiration. As a doctoral candidate in the sciences, it is important for me to assert my knowledge of a topic while capturing the attention of the reader. Jesse has taught me to transform bare facts and ideas into structured, sophisticated passages. He has played an active role in building my self-confidence and has helped me find an authentic writing voice to more clearly and elegantly express my thoughts. I am grateful to have his guidance and am eager to vouch for his excellence as a tutor.

I am so lucky that I found Jesse! He is thoughtful, thorough, patient, and kind, and his lessons always felt like they were tailored specifically to me and my needs. Even his teaching materials were personalized to include my name and phrases that only I would need to use (i.e. I'm an actress and piano teacher, and I've been living and working in NYC for over ten years). Highly recommended!

About Eduardo
Hi and thank you for watching my video. My name is Eduardo and I was born on the island of Cuba, so Spanish is actually my primary language. Since I was little, I was very interested in learning new languages, so I have devoted significant time to learning specifically English, French and Portuguese. About 10 years ago, I decided to share this passion with others by becoming a freelance language teacher.

I prefer to focus on customizable lessons, so that you can save time and go directly to what matters to you. In that way, you share your priorities and your goals and I put together a syllabus that encompasses the essential content to help you reach those goals.
Maybe you are planning to travel to a Spanish Speaking country or you work with Spanish speaking people and would like to communicate with them in a more efficient way. Whic
hever your goals are, I will tailor a class so that you can reach those goals faster.

If you speak either English, French, or Portuguese I would be happy to have you as a student and show you how amazing the Spanish language is, its secrets and what makes it different from other romance languages. I believe finding the right tutor can be a daunting task, for that reason I offer a free trial lesson to all students so that we can get to know each other, ask questions and allow you to make a more informed decision.
If all this sounds good to you, go ahead and schedule your free trial lesson at your convenience and I will reach out to you for more details on your specific needs.
