今日は and welcome to learning Japanese, I have a bachelor's degree in Japanese language and culture from the Ohio State University, and I have tutored Japanese before and it really isn't as intimidating as it looks. I've learned through many ways and I have many many resources that I will gladly share with you so you can learn on your own, whether you're a beginner or advanced, I can direct you to how to become very fluent with all my knowledge and resources combined. Also as a bonus I will teach you some kanji calligraphy if interested as well.

About Moataz
I am a Freelance Graphic Designer living in Stamford, Connecticut. I love learning and teaching, like a lot. I teach languages, Lettering, branding, and the basics of Graphic design as well as the adobe programs that bring it to life.

My promise to you is that I will teach you everything I know in the time I'm given and provide you with all sorts of outside resources to get you on your way to fluency and proficiency.

I'll make sure to do my absolute best to get you speaking a new language from day one, learning a Design program immediately, or teaching you how to letter with the rules they don't teach you in school. And best of all, I'll even show you how to actually make money with all of these.

I have a very unique journey into learning where I experienced many places and got a fresh and different understanding to the many su
bjects that I teach. For example my knowledge of multiple languages and travel to different countries gave me an added knowledge of linguistics that I experienced first hand and confirmed in books, so now I know how languages work, and can relate a concept from one language to another even if the languages seem completely different.

My Design work has been very general so I've done a lot of different things before I specialized in hand lettering, so I've done it all from advertisements on billboards to website design and development, to copywriting, to branding from start to finish for companies big and small.

My love for lettering and Calligraphy emerged when I started getting more Logos for client work and my exploration of type wasn't the best answer most of the time so I would letter everything myself, and the rest is history.

I am really passionate about learning and even more passionate about sharing what I've learned. I am efficient, I know what works for different people since I taught in classrooms and tutored way before I knew about Takelessons, and I'm most proud of being praised as a very genuine person. A very common compliment I get is that I sincerely want my students to do well. And it makes me really happy every time someone says it, and I hope that one day you see that and tell me the same thing.

Feel free to find out more about me and ask me anything you want, and I really look forward to one day teach you something that will get you to achieve your goals! :)

Just so there are no surprises, I raise my prices very slightly every 3 months, next time it will go up is on March 3rd 2017. The reason for this is because I get better and more efficient at teaching as time goes by, so that hour that you get now is much more packed with value than the same hour last year or last month.

Japanese is my pet subject, and I am passionate about both learning and teaching it! Whether you're about to start learning yourself or are already learning and looking for extra help, congratulations! I have been teaching Japanese for two years to a variety of students, such as college students and military preparing to be stationed in Okinawa. Teaching Japanese is a particular passion of mine, because even though I wanted to learn as a high-schooler I had to wait until my sophomore year of college to find a teacher. Japanese learning should be far more easily accessible, and that's what I'm here for! Whatever your goal is, to learn Japanese for professional purposes, private purposes, or even just to watch your favorite TV programs without subtitles, I make it my personal goal to help you achieve it. I look forward to helping you succeed with Japanese!

About Emily
Howdy! I have an undergraduate degree in Classics and an MA in ancient history, and I have been teaching/tutoring since 2009. I know first-hand how much hard work can achieve, but my experience in teaching has also taught me that the work doesn't have to be so hard when a student has experienced, dedicated help. That's what I'm here for! I have done both paid and volunteer teaching, and I have worked both for myself and for a university. I have taught a wide range of students - ADD students, injured students unable to attend normal classes, struggling students - in a variety of environments. I have experience teaching to groups and individuals; face-to-face, chat-room style, and via video conferencing. I teach language because I have a passion for it, and my goal with my students, whether they are learning a new language or furthering the
ir native English skills, is always to help them achieve their own language learning goals. I look forward to helping you achieve yours!

Emily is a natural teacher and connected well with my 10 year old son. She started with the basic Hiragana and then built upon that foundation with more challenging material and conversation. School is starting so our time is now limited, but I'm so glad we worked with Emily this summer.

I've been taking Japanese lessons now for a few months from Aimi. She is friendly, patient, and interested in what you want to learn. Because I have plans to travel to Japan, she has focused her efforts on educating me on what phrases would be helpful as well as ensuring i know key customs.
I've loved every minute.

Would 100% reccomend Aimi せんせい to any student looking to learn everything from conversational phrases/basics to someone looking to becoming fluent in the language.

Having almost no experience with the language, within the first 5 weeks of learning from Aimi せんせい, I have made tremendous strides in learning Japanese, so much so that I've decided to continue taking lessons beyond the first 5.

During each lesson, in addition to having a well structured learning plan, Aimi is amazing at explaining the cultural origins or words/phrases as well as some of the more nuanced aspects of the language. In addition to this, she also is very responsive over text, and is able to answer any questions I might have throughout the week (outside of lessons).

Lastly, I think the best part of these lessons are that they are fun, instant feedback and learning goals oriented, and that she changes the lesson/matches the pace the student is trying to/learning at.

ありがとうございました, せんせい!

Over the years I've spent studying and mastering the language, something that I've learned is that the student is only as good as the resources he has available. I've tried every commercially available method for learning Japanese: classes, programs, textbooks, applications, self study guides and more, but I have found that there is no replacement for one-on-one learning with someone knowledgeable and passionate about Japanese. That sort of personalized teaching is what my lessons will provide!

About Shane
I am currently a Junior at Harvard University majoring in East Asian Studies with a specific focus on Japan and Japanese media. On campus I am also Co-President of the Harvard College Japan Initiative, a student-run organization that hosts an annual Japanese career fair. I also work at the Yenching Library on campus in the Japanese Collection. In my spare time I like to consume Japanese media (games, novels, movies) that I buy on my trips there, act, and practice martial arts.

I have been tutoring in a variety of subjects for over 10 years and am extremely passionate about teaching and education. Sometimes students need assistance tailored to their specific needs and situations that regular classes cannot provide, and so one of my greatest joys tutoring is being able to give one-on-one, specialized help and the little extra push that c
an help them shine. My mother is a former teacher and so from a very young age I've always been drawn to education.

I have taken the equivalent of five years of intensive Japanese classes at Harvard University during my three years here, earning top scores in each class, for which I was awarded Harvard's Tazuko Ajiro-Monane Prize by the Japanese Language Department. The classes I've taken include both traditional language classes as well as the advanced classes which focus on academic writing, Business Japanese, and academic debate on issues in the social sciences. In addition, I have taken intensive Japanese classes in Japan, both at the Ishikawa Prefecture International Exchange Center and the Inter-University Center for Japanese Studies, the latter of which offers the most advanced intensive Japanese courses available and is primarily aimed at graduate and post-graduate students.

Given my academic experience and awards, extensive experience living and working in Japan and Japanese environments, and my familiarity with the language, I can be of great assistance for Japanese tutoring of all varieties--whether it be help with test prep, high school or university classes, or business, academic, or casual Japanese. I own most commercially available and reputable Japanese textbooks and learning resources (including those written in Japanese), so I'd love to incorporate them into our lessons as well.

I'm very available and approachable, so if you have any questions please do reach out to me at any time! I would love to talk to you more and get to know you on an individual basis.

Hi! I'm Jordan :). I'm currently a senior at St. Edwards University that is majoring in International Business. I have always had a passion for learning about other cultures, especially when it comes to Japan. This is why I have spent an embarrassing amount of time learning about both the Japanese language and culture. I am currently in my third semester of official Japanese classes and have been studying Japanese for 3 years. While I am not 100% "fluent" in Japanese yet I do know quite a bit. To compensate I will be offering a drastically lower hourly rate than is normal. I'm okay with doing this because my primary motivation behind being your tutor is not to make money, but rather to further practice my Japanese while getting you started on your journey as well. What I'm essentially offering is what you would learn in your first two semesters
at a university level class in Japanese for a fraction of the price. As I mentioned before I'm a huge nerd when it comes to Japan so my ...

! To contest this I will be offering a drastically lower hourly rate than is normal. I'm okay with doing this because my primary motivation behind being your tutor is not to make money, but rather to further practice my Japanese while getting you started on your journey as well. What i'm essentially offering is what you would learn during your first
two semesters in a university level class. As I mentioned before I'm a huge nerd when it comes to Japan so my lessons will also include learning about the culture (which is important to understanding the language). I'm also deeply rooted in the Japanese community here on campus and love to get my students involved with them whenever I get the chance.

I like my lessons to cater to each students individual needs and learning style. For example the way I teach young children versus a college or high school student will differ greatly. I also love learning about each students story and what their motivation is behind learning Japanese. Some people learn because they want to watch anime without subtitles (that's right i'm talking to all you nerds out there) while others are interested in living in Japan or possibly studying abroad. The way my class is taught will depend on my students motivation and interests for learning the language. As I mentioned before I believe learning about Japanese culture is vitally important to properly understanding the language(this is true for any language). With this in mind I love to teach about Japanese culture alongside the language during my lessons. For example, 75% of our time together may be spent learning the language while the remaining 25% will focus on a range of topics from Japanese history to proper etiquette in Japan. I have a very flexible schedule and have no problem driving to meet you as well. Please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions you may have! I look forward to exploring the beautiful world of Japan with you in the future! :)
