Howdy! I have an undergraduate degree in Classics and an MA in ancient history, and I have been teaching/tutoring since 2009. I know first-hand how much hard work can achieve, but my experience in teaching has also taught me that the work doesn't have to be so hard when a student has experienced, dedicated help. That's what I'm here for! I have done both paid and volunteer teaching, and I have worked both for myself and for a university. I have taught a wide range of students - ADD students, injured students unable to attend normal classes, struggling students - in a variety of environments. I have experience teaching to groups and individuals; face-to-face, chat-room style, and via video conferencing. I teach language because I have a passion for it, and my goal with my students, whether they are learning a new language or furthering their native English skills, is always to help them achieve their own language learning goals. I look forward to helping you achieve yours!
I am an independent contractor teaching the middle and high school Japanese elective courses at Angles Academy, a private academy whose philosophy is that all children can learn and whose mission is to prove that with small classes and individualized teaching strategies.
I am an independent contractor with this company to tutor in English language arts, GRE exam prep, elementary math, Latin, Greek, and Japanese.
A former teacher of mine referred a struggling high-school student of his to me. The student was ADD and had missed several classes due to illness. My job was to teach him the Greek he should have been learning in class to prepare him to rejoin his classmates in the following school-year.
I graded assignments, quizzes, and exams for all levels of Japanese classes, excepting advanced exams.
I made myself available as needed to all levels of current Japanese students to help with homework, exam preparation, and study strategies. I was also occasionally asked by a teacher to teach a student who had, due to injury, illness, etc., missed too many classes to continue without extra help. My job in that case was to teach all the language which the student had missed and prepare them to continue with their classmates.
I made myself available at set times each week to struggling students in beginner and intermediate courses. I also allowed students to set up extra meetings outside of my set hours to help them prepare for exams.

Sigma Alpha Lambda is a National Leadership and Honors Organization dedicated to developing the individual and serving our campus and community. The mission of Sigma Alpha Lambda is to recognize members for academic achievement, to engage members in service, and to develop members for leadership. Service is the foundation of our leadership development model as well as the leadership of the organization itself. Through service, individuals look outside themselves and lives are changed, not only for the one being served but even more so for the one serving. As a result of this process, the individual learns more about who they really are and what they value. Our Statement of Purpose and organization’s Shared Values provide the foundation upon which the organization carries out its mission.
