Talented teachers are rare. Like a great coach i sports... the coach doesn’t need to be the top athlete in his field to know how to teach each team member to hone their best abilities, he just has to know and see how to teach you how to get there. Being an outstanding teacher is a great talent all in itself... and that is Jesse. He has that quality and ability to lead, focus and take you where you want to go.

Jesse has given directions on how to successfully become a better musician. His approach and explanation on musical theories was much more understandable than what I was previously reading. Overall, I found the lessons to be very usefull.

Learning Japanese? As being a composer for short Anime films and having a Japanese background, I have worked with Japanese companies for many years and trained employees of different companies in not only speaking Japanese but also the business culture. But that is not all my classes are for everybody for those planning a trip to Japan. What's special of my classes is that we learn to have a conversation for different situations every week. You will start talking after your first class! CHECK OUT MY VIDEOS HERE ON TL FOR JAPANESE TIPS!

We can focus on all four skills; speaking, listening, reading, and writing, but if a student would like to focus on only speaking, we can certainly do that as well. We also talk about cultural aspects of Japan and cover the vocabularies related to the cultural aspects.

About Emi

Hello, my name is Emi. I was born in Nagano prefecture and raised in Saitama prefecture. After graduating from college in Tokyo, I moved to the U.S. and have been teaching Japanese at public middle schools as well as colleges for almost 30 years. My hobbies are practicing musical instruments and

Sensei seems to really enjoy teaching. As both a native speaker and a longtime resident of the US, she is able to bridge the cultures in a way that many instructors would not be able to. I have been studying with her for over six months - both in a private and college setting - and I feel that I would be hard pressed to find a better teacher. In a college setting, she is very strict and covers a lot of material in a short period of time, and those who take her courses must be prepared to expend significant time and energy for success, but those who can keep up are well equipped to continue their studies with pretty much any other teacher or course.
Chris
Sensei Emi was patient, kind, and very thorough with her teaching. I started from knowing absolutely nothing about Japanese language or culture and now, having completed just 5 hours of lessons with her, I feel I have a solid foundation to build upon. Within our 5 hours we covered numbers, greetings, and almost all of the 46 basic hiragana. She was born and raised in Japan so it was lovely hearing about the culture and society from stories she lived through first hand. As I continue my education in Japanese I hope to return to her and continue to learn more. I highly recommend her as a teacher to anyone learning Japanese at any level.
Anderson
Emi is the second private tutor that my company has had and she by far has been the best, hands-down. She is professional and experienced but she is also flexible with scheduling which is a necessity for business professionals who travel quite a bit for work.
The homework is not strenuous but is focused and important for success in her lessons. She also teaches at a nice pace but also is willing to work with you if you feel that you are falling behind. You can absolutely tell that Emi cares about her students and their progression with the language no matter their age and experience.

"Taro really is the best instructor, and I highly recommend lessons with him for people of every skill level when learning Japanese! He has all the qualities you want in a teacher: he is patient and is always willing to spend extra time helping me understand difficult grammar points and cultural concepts that impact language; he is communicative and very responsive via email; and (as someone who took in-person lessons) he is an excellent host. I am especially happy with his lesson plans, which are extremely thorough and personalized to my specific skill level and goals—he was also quick to adapt them as my goals changed throughout the year. Every very lesson with Taro has been both educational and very engaging and interesting! Overall, I’ve been so impressed with Taro’s teaching methods, and with his help, I hope to pass the JLPT N2 next year!"

You can enrich your Japanese-learning experience by also learning about Japanese history and culture. Japan is a country that's rich in history and traditions.
