Being born and raised in Geneva, the French-speaking part of Switzerland, French is my mother tongue. With a Swiss degree of pediatric nursing and teaching, I worked more than 15 years with children, families and adult learners. Finding the best way to learn depending on who you are and what goals you have is one of my specialties. I like to provide a dynamic and a fun learning environment to high schoolers and adults.
Having learnt multiple second languages, such as English, Italian, Spanish and German, I’m very aware of the process of learning a new language.
I can provide vocabulary, grammar, verbs, conversation as well as cultural aspects from different French speaking countries, as I was working with people from France and I spent 3 years in Montreal, Quebec.
I moved to Richmond four years ago, bringing many French books and ressources that could be used during lessons.

One thing I love about teaching is bringing the arts into the process of learning. We may sing in the language and even paint to help learn. I've taught younger than Kindergarten all the way to adults, so feel comfortable that you'll grow in advanced conversational skills, as well as, beginner vocabulary. Let me highlight that I'm passionate about "phonetics," which is the study and classification of speech sounds. In other words, you are going to learn how to sound like a native speaker when you take my class.

I am very lucky to have Philippe as French teacher! he is excellent and has helped me to improve my French level tremendously. It is a joy to join his class as he not only teaches us the language but also challenges us to have meaningful discussions and apply all we have learned in real life situations. For me, this is the best way to learn, and also to motivate you to improve your language and thinking skills, which are part of your learning experience. I really look forward to continue to have French classes with him, and highly (highly!!) recommend him as teacher!

I've been taking French class with Philippe twice a week for the past 2 months. My French comprehension and speaking has improved by leaps and bounds. Enough so that my husband who is a native French speaker has commented weekly in how much he has noticed the improvement in my pronounciation and comprehension (and he is VERY hard to please. He doesn't give out complements easily). Philippe has been the catalyst. I had lessons previously and even been in immersion French programs twice. I had learn so much but due to the pandemic being able to do that again was not available. I became frustrated because i felt like even with weekly lessons with another very good teach, I was slipping backward and not progressing like I felt I could. I found Philippe and i am so very grateful. He is very charming and interesting. He pushes me to do better. He has given be exercises between classes that help me improve understanding and comprehension and during class we do different types of listening and conversation so that I am picking up vocabulary, grammar, listening skills and conversation that is becoming more complex. I highly recommend Philippe if your goal is to speak more fluently and to understand. What a pleasure to be able to turn on French TV and be able to pick up more and more each day. Philippe is create in finding all kinds of tools andi information to keep my attention and to advance my skills

I’ve been working with Philippe Fadi for about a year now and he’s been a very good fit for me as a busy professional also trying to improve her French. He’s very understanding and not intimidating or critical when I make mistakes (even when correcting me). He’s been able to flex to meet my learning style and time limitations with work, which has been much appreciate. Highly recommended.

French Lessons in Atlanta, GA

By Natalie T. - Atlanta French Teacher

Are you interested in French lessons in Atlanta? Atlanta is a thriving, multicultural metropolis with plenty of opportunities to learn almost any modern language! From classes to events to organizations, there are several community resources to help you learn French for the first time, improve your skills, or simply practice on a conversational level.

  1. The Alliance Française d'Atlanta

The Alliance Française is an international organization, dedicated to promoting and preserving the French language and culture. The United States is fortunate to have an Alliance Française in almost every major city. The organization is membership-based, but membership is optional and affordable. For example, members are currently abl

e to participate in “Heure Heureuse,” a conversational group for all French levels held every third Friday of the month. The organization is also child-friendly, hosting engaging programs involving activities such as games and cooking lessons. The Alliance Française will help you complete a placement test to help determine your language level and there are periodically volunteer or internship positions available so that you can further get involved and practice French! (http://afatl.com/)

  1. The Atlanta French Language Meetup Group

Founded in 2003, this is a conversational group that meets every third Monday of the month to practice French in an informal setting. All language levels are welcome and entry is just $1.00 per meeting. The group is comprised of 50% native French speakers and 50% non-native French speakers, with approximately 50-60 people attending at a time. This is a great opportunity for anyone looking to meet French speakers and/or practice their French in a friendly environment. RSVP at: http://www.meetup.com/Atlanta-French-Language-Meetup/. There are also two other groups in Roswell and North Fulton.

  1. Emory University - Continuing Education Courses

If you’re looking to practice the language outside your private French lessons in Atlanta, check out Emory University’s Continuing Education courses. Like most college language courses, these classes offer a well-rounded curriculum of study to include pronunciation, spelling, grammar, conversational skills, and cultural learning. Emory has an impressive, longstanding reputation within the world of academia and continuing education courses for personal enrichment are no exception. A list of French courses can found at the following link: http://ece.emory.edu/catalogDetail.php?CatalogID=53.

Atlanta provides many options for those seeking to learn French for the first time, or to train their current French skills. There is an option for every budget or schedule. Outside of the classroom or conversational group, volunteer work is always an option and much appreciated by all of the above organizations. Volunteer work will also provide language immersion and useful skills at the same time. Simply decide which option is best for you, and amusez-vous bien!
