Talented teachers are rare. Like a great coach i sports... the coach doesn’t need to be the top athlete in his field to know how to teach each team member to hone their best abilities, he just has to know and see how to teach you how to get there. Being an outstanding teacher is a great talent all in itself... and that is Jesse. He has that quality and ability to lead, focus and take you where you want to go.

Jesse has given directions on how to successfully become a better musician. His approach and explanation on musical theories was much more understandable than what I was previously reading. Overall, I found the lessons to be very usefull.

Sensei O. has been a very good Japanese instructor for the past several months for me. He is very patient and understanding and does an amazing job at making the language very fun to learn. Since learning under Sensei O. I went from knowing very little Japanese to being able to read Hiragana, Katakana, and Kanji. Thank you for being such an amazing teacher Sensei!

Sensei Yoshi is a great Japanese teacher as well as a nice person to talk to. My 13 yr old boy learned a lot from him and I can see and hear that he focuses fully from the beginning to the end of the virtual lesson. Highly recommended.

Yoshi is a great instructor. Our 12 year old daughter is very into anime and wanted to learn Japanese. She was not prepared for the amount time this would take to learn. Yoshi was patient with her and she very much enjoyed the lesson that included her writing the names of her favorite anime characters.

I'm a first generation half-Japanese American currently living in Boston, MA! I spent my childhood surrounded by Japanese language and culture, followed by 7 years of formal language training, culminating in a Japanese language minor at the University of Washington. My thesis focused on the manifestation of gender in Japanese performing arts.

Growing up bilingual, I understand the difficulty of trying to juggle two languages! Whether you want to learn a new language, or simply want to brush up on your Japanese skills, I am always happy to be of help! Lessons include reading, writing, listening, translating literature, and speaking (polite, casual, and formal styles). I use the Genki and Tobira books and also like to introduce students to classic and modern Japanese literature as a way to enhance the students’ cultural knowledge. I welcome beginning and intermediate Japanese students!

Do you want to understand your favorite anime show, movies or Japanese culture better? Do you want to learn to crack jokes in Japanese and win any crowd over? Would you like to do business in Japan and need someone who can not only teach you the language, but cultural differences and etiquette so you can win over any client?

Japanese and English are polar opposites in many ways.
Sentence structures are upside down. English is written horizontally left to right, but traditional Japanese is written vertically right to left.
Communicating can be difficult when what can be spoken directly in English has to be said in more subtle ways in Japanese, and this miscommunication can cause relationships to break down.

My passion is to help people cross cultural barriers and make new friends.
Learning a new language can build confidence and expand your mind in ways you never thought possible!

One of the signs that you have truly mastered a language is to understand the humor. I can ...

Karaoke is a fun activity in any language, but believe it or not, singing karaoke is also a great way to improve your Japanese-language skills. The word 'karaoke' is a combination of the words kara (from karappo, which means 'empty') and oke (from okesutura, which means 'orchestra'). You may not have realized that you can learn Japanese through music, but karaoke is one of the best ways to practice vocabulary and …

When you're taking Japanese lessons, you will be introduced to the three different writing systems: hiragana, katakana, and kanji. Although kanji is generally considered the most difficult to learn, because of the symbols, it's the most popular writing system among non-Japanese speakers. Kanji consists of thousands of characters which were derived from the Chinese writing system.
