I am highly skilled and qualified to teach all levels of Spanish after having taught high school Spanish for 18 years. With beginning students I begin with pronunciation and greetings, introductions and essential vocabulary and work in conjunction with the textbook they are using to practice and reinforce the concepts presented in the classroom. With the more advanced students we work on conversation, grammar, reading comprehension and refining all elements of the language. I tailor the lesson to fit each student's needs, interests/goals and any textbook they may be using.

About Joan
I have 18 years experience teaching high school Spanish and have lived and worked in Spain. I am a UC Berkeley graduate with a minor in Italian. My passion is the study of foreign languages. I have also studied French and Arabic and am able to understand the difficulties of language learning from both the student and teacher's perspective. I am adept at explaining concepts in a clear and concise manner and targeting the student's specific difficulties. Students have found my tutoring helpful in improving their performance on tests, increasing their ability to comprehend and respond in Spanish and/or developing conversational Spanish when traveling to a Spanish-speaking country. I can provide the student with useful classroom strategies and study skills to make language learning easy and fun at all levels.

I am a Spanish native speaker teacher. I hold a degree in the field of Early Childhood Education issued in my country Lima-Peru. After my graduation from The Instituto Pedagogico Nacional Monterrico, I decided to traveled to the United States and stayed since then. I worked as a pre-school and first grade teacher in a bilingual private school in Miami. I also worked as a Readiness Specialist and Quality Assurance Specialist at the Early Childhood Education (ECE) Department for a non-profit organization in Miami Lakes and West Palm Beach.

After moving to Atlanta, I started working at Tabula Rasa school as a preschool and after-school teacher at the Spanish Program for 3 years. I worked for this private school with non-Spanish native speakers children of different ages exposed to a full immersion Spanish program. It was a rewarding professional and personal experience to see how my students became fluent in ...

About Mariella
Buenos dias a todos!
I am a native Spanish Tutor with a degree in the field of Education and certified by the State of Georgia in the fields of Early Childhood Education and Spanish. I have years of experience teaching my own language to adults, middle and high schoolers (individuals and small groups) as well as teaching Spanish to children from Pre-Kindergarten to Middle School in private schools. I am currently tutoring adults, middle school, high school, and college students.
Sometimes learning a foreign language can be overwhelming and frustrating, which is why I focus my lessons on UNDERSTANDING and SPEAKING Spanish from the very first class. My method is fun and you will learn real-life Spanish.
I have traveled a lot in Latin America , and have visited different Spanish-speaking countries. Thus, I am familiar with the regional dif
ferences of the language. I'm a very reliable person and nothing makes me happier than seeing my students make progress. My rates are competitive based on my experience. References available upon request.

Please e-mail me if interested to let me know your needs and schedule.

Hasta luego!

Not only have I studied Spanish, but I have also lived in Peru and Mexico for a several years, as well as traveled extensively around Latin America, gaining complete fluency. In addition to Basic, Intermediate, and Advanced Conversational Spanish, I also teach Spanish for Healthcare Professionals.

About Jackie
Hi! My name is Jackie, and I have 15+ years of experience in teaching, tutoring, and training. Currently, I am enjoying managing two small businesses while teaching students part time.

All of my students, meaning a perfect 100%, have improved their grades by at least one letter grade, if not more, and passed every one of their tests and exams. I help ALL my clients reach their goals!

A couple years ago, I returned to San Diego after living in Peru for several years where I taught English as a second language. My students ranged from adult business people and academicians to primary and secondary school students. I really needed to utilize different teaching methods depending on each student’s needs. Some students wanted more business-related conversation, so I had to be able to teach business principles in marketing, communication,
logistics, interviewing, and so much more. Critical thinking was an area that I pushed my business students to improve. Other students needed to work on the basics of grammar, reading, and writing, and we had a lot of fun in class, whether going through the interactive lesson or improvising by playing fun games to emphasize thinking on their feet in another language.

The feedback I often received from my Peruvian students, as well as my students in Mexico and the U.S., was that I made learning an enjoyable experience—they wanted to work harder to advance quickly in their classes. All of my students agree that I have a lot of patience and turn even the most challenging lessons into ones of positivity and encouragement. I provide critical feedback in the most constructive of ways that help the students reach conclusions on their own. I enjoy being there to support and guide their experience!

Before I left for Peru, I worked at St Vincent de Paul Village (part of Father Joe's Villages) in downtown San Diego. There I focused on Health Education. I built the Villages' first Health Education department and helped start its innovative Health & Wellness program. As part of these two programs, I taught homeless and low-income adults with and without learning disabilities, as well as children from preschoolers to high school students. Teaching such a wide variety of students how to improve their health while living in sometimes precarious situations without much income or stability pushed me to think creatively and come up with memorable ways to engage the students and help them apply what they had learned in their daily routine.

In high school, I took all AP and college prep classes. I went to a liberal arts college in Virginia where I focused on social studies and biology. I spent a few years training business people in Microsoft Office, Photoshop, InDesign, as well as presentation techniques. In grad school, I specialized in applied anthropology and public health. During that time, I tutored students in web design. In between, I've worked in Communications and Training in international health and development, so I have a lot of experience to bring to teaching.

Basically, I love teaching. I'm enthusiastic yet patient, and I absolutely adore helping kids and adults alike learn. It's such a sense of accomplishment when my students show off their terrific grades. I see the same look in my students’ eyes regardless of age—that pride that shines from within, that exuberant smile, like they can conquer anything. I want my students to keep that pride for a long, long time.

Right now, I'm writing two textbooks to be used in my Spanish classes. I've also written several academic articles published online. I love traveling, cats, and learning!

During lessons I will provide constant feedback and adjust lessons depending on your needs and level of understanding. Students have different learning styles so I will teach lessons that incorporate visual, verbal, and written teaching methods. Students can expect a professional, enthusiastic, and patient teacher that is serious about students learning the subjects material and also makes learning fun.

About Belinda
I am a professional working artist and I am also an elementary piano teacher for an after school program here in Riverside. I obtained a degree in Art Practice from UC Berkeley where I specialized in multimedia installations that included large scale paintings and sculptures. Due to the versatility in my own work from large to very small scale paintings I have acquired techniques and skills for every scale in between.
I am a strong believer in self expression and visual literacy which gets stronger with the formulation of concepts one builds through inspiration for each painting. I enjoy teaching and learning what my students' interests are and what motivates them. I can help you learn specific skills for abstract paintings to portraits.
Through research I have also learned that individuals benefit greatly from cre
ative freedom thus performing better in other academic subjects, learning healthy ways of expression, and through the therapeutic effects of painting.
If you are looking to work with someone who loves what they do, who is patient, motivational, and can teach you basic to advanced skills give me a call and let's get painting!

I've been studying Spanish since my first words. Having taken Spanish throughout my adolescent life, I then completed a minor at Texas Christian University. I did this in part by Studying Abroad in Spain last summer, where I learned many of the grammar and colloquialism differences between Latin Spanish and Castilian Spanish.

I'm friendly, patient, and always want to help you speak and sound your best. Let me know what you want to work on and we'll find the right lessons and pace for you!

About Carroll
My first words were in Spanish and I've been studying and speaking since then! I've traveled to Spain multiple times where I served as a translator for my family, and later studied in a Spanish-Only school for six weeks.

I'm patient and want to get to know your Spanish level and your specific needs. I am always happy to have free consultation sessions prior to tutoring to learn more about what you want and need out of the tutoring experience.
