I'm a native Japanese speaker who was born and raised in Tokyo, Japan.
I've been a freelance translator for various seminars, one-on-one meetings and have translated many business emails/documents/etc.

I'd be happy to help you achieve your goals: whether it be a quick Japanese lesson before your trip to Japan, working on conversational skills, writing Japanese...or anything else!

About Natsuki
Hello Students/Parents:

I have been playing saxophone for 18 years and currently I am playing professionally in the Los Angeles area. I have been teaching music for more than 8 years and have been able to find fun and creative methods for helping my students succeed.

I was born and raised in Tokyo, Japan and surrounded by a musical family. I started playing piano at age 4 and started playing saxophone at age 10. I continued my woodwind training in high school by learning to play flute and clarinet. After beginning saxophone, I found I had a passion for big band jazz music. I joined a big band for young musicians and played lead alto with the band for almost 6 years.

After graduating from high school, I attended Berklee College of Music in Boston on scholarship where I studied performance and jazz composition. While I was in Bost
on, I was fortunate to play lots of gigs around town and was also a featured soloist on a number of recitals, recordings, and film scores.

In May 2010, I graduated from Berklee College of Music and moved to Los Angeles. Always maintaining a busy schedule, I have been performing with a number of talented musicians at several venues in the LA area. In addition to playing live shows, I have been recording for film/TV music.

I love all kinds of music: Classical, Pop, Jazz, Rock etc…
Some of my favorite artists/influences include:
Cannonball Adderley, The Beatles, Stevie Wonder, Michael Jackson, Earth Wind and Fire, Charlie Parker, Miles Davis, and many more

Thank you so much for stopping by my page and hope to work with you soon!

Best,
Natsuki

*** Lesson Details ***
I am experienced in most styles: Jazz, Pop, Classical, Latin, R&B, Funk, Rock etc…
After discussing your goals, we will figure out the best way to accomplish those goals!

I am a really easy-going person and I want you to have FUN and discover new stuff every time you play your instrument.

After we figure out what you want to play and what areas we want to work on, I will make a special curriculum for you! Each student has a different curriculum that is specific to his or her level and learning style. I give a weekly curriculum after every lesson so you don’t need to worry about forgetting what we worked on at our lesson and you can work on it at home. Looking at past curriculum also provides an excellent way to look at a student’s progress.

One of the most important aspects of playing a woodwind instrument is achieving a good tone. I will help you get a good tone by teaching the fundamentals: from how to hold your instrument, how to blow, etc…

Other topics that we might cover include sight-reading, improvisation, theory, ear training, etc.

You are welcome to bring/suggest any music that you want to work on!

My studio is in a safe and nice family friendly neighborhood as you can see in the photos.

Become comfortable with daily conversational Japanese. I also offer music lesson in Japanese.

About Asuka
I started my musical training as a pianist at YAMAHA institute at age 4 in Japan. I was selected to enter perfect pitch class. It was designated for students who have perfect pitch and potentials to be professional musicians.

I enjoyed playing piano and electric piano and won the 1st prize at Kitakantou Electric Piano Competition hosted by YAMAHA institute. Because of the intensive training, I have been accompanying my students' recitals and performance exams.

As much as I enjoyed playing piano, I discovered that I also love singing, so I started to take singing lessons and majored in vocal performance during my college days.

Since I have graduated, I have been performing opera professionally. My career highlights include roles as Cio-cio san(Madame Butterfly) with Snob Opera, Montreal, Quebec, Canada, Fairy(Falstaff) with Sir B
ryn Terfel with the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic, Liverpool, England, Dorinda(Orlando) with Cantanti Project, Pamina (Die Zauberflöte) with Opera Manhattan Studio, Frasquita (Carmen) with One World Symphony, Zerlina (Don Giovanni) and Clorinda (La Cenerentola) with Capitol Heights Opera, Alice (Le comte Ory) with West Side Opera Society, Adele (Die Fledermaus), Susanna (Le Nozze di Figaro), and Myrrhine (Lysistrata) with Opera Avanti, Gilda (Rigoletto) with Académie Internationale d'Eté de Nice, and The First Spirit (Die Zauberflöte) with the Opera Company of Brooklyn.

My international credits include performances under the direction of Conductor Laurent Pillot at the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic, Liverpool, England;the Académie Internationale d'Eté de Nice, France; the Daniel Ferro Vocal Program in Chianti,Italy; the International Vocal Arts Institute in Tel Aviv, Israel where I was selected to sing for the Japanese Ambassador.

I made appearances as a soloist at Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, Symphony Space, Town Hall, and MOMA museum in New York City and the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Hall.

As a versatile singer, I was presented as an aspiring opera singer on the website of Maybelline New York. Her voice was featured in short films for the Japanese technology company NEC. I appeared as a soprano soloist for the opera, Jazz and theater collaboration of "TAKE ABITE" by David Antonio Cruz. I also sings Broadway songs and continues her musical theater studies. She is an active recitalist and also performs Oratorio works.

I was also a finalist at the Opera Idol Competition at Lincoln Center in New York City, The Hariclea Darclée Voice Competition in Romania and the Mario Lanza and Elaine Malbin Vocal Competition in New York City. Ms. Uchida was selected as a vocal scholarship recipient at Savannah music festival.

My upcoming engagement includes singing the role of Gilda in Rigoletto and Oscar in Un ballo in maschera in 2018 in New York City.

Besides being an opera singer, I have been teaching piano and voice for 11 years. I would like to share my skills and experience with you. Since I perform often, I can coach you how to perform on stage in addition to building solid technique and languages. Also, I have taught various kinds of music, such as Rock, Broadway musicals, Pop music, so we can work on all kind of music.

I look forward to teaching you soon!

My students can expect to improve their skills and start to enjoy music more as we work together.
I believe that learning music is fun and enjoyable. However you also need to be serious and focused.
I can demonstrate various and specific techniques, phrasing, and interpretation and will always coach on how to develop your skills. However, I feel it is important for students to think critically on their own and take the first try at solving a problem themselves. I cannot emphasize enough that primarily it is you who find the ways to improve. Leaning music is a collaboration between teachers and students. I hope that through my lessons, students will become more self-sufficient and confident as musicians.
Let me help you become a better musician.

I really love taking voice lessons with Asuka-sensei! It's a lot of fun, and I can tell that she listens very well because she immediately helps me with the areas I struggle with - whenever I come across them in the music. I really appreciate the way she coaches voice exercises, and I think they have immensely helped me get a better tone and sound. Even from the first lesson, I instantly heard a clear difference in my voice! She is seriously talented!!

Learning Japanese? As being a composer for short Anime films and having a Japanese backround, I have worked with Japanese companies for many years and trained employees of different companies in not only speaking Japanese but also the business culture. But that is not all my classes are for everybody for those planning a trip to Japan. What's special of my classes is that we learn to have a conversation for different situations every week. You will start talking after your first class! CHECK OUT MY VIDEOS HERE ON TL FOR JAPANESE TIPS!

About Rosita
I have been singing and studying voice for over 23 years since I was a child! I hold a Bachelors from Musicians Institute and other accomplished degrees from American Musical Dramatic Academy to conclude my quest for vocal excellence and the ability to sing in multiple languages ( English, Spanish, Japanese and Italian) I have been lucky enough to study with some of the top teachers in the country and now I bring the experience I have gained directly to you!

I am proud to share my student's vast array of musical successes. From being cast on short anime films and musicals to being accepted into prestigious performing arts academies to conquering the Karaoke scene. My passion for multiple languages and love of music is the desire driving me to share the gifts for teaching young children to open the door to their own musical abilities an
d hidden artistic desires. I am currently writing a musical which will be debuting in 2020. I'm currently the vocal coach/Trainer and choir director at Iglesia Elim Central.

I will make sure my students have fun and help them get in the right track to their musical goals.

Also, I constantly upload videos on Singing, The Spanish Language, and Japanese! So keep Checking in! It ranges on tips and answering the most common questions on those particular subjects!

Also There are discounted rates for worship teams and church choirs. For more information please contact me through the "Ask a Question feature"

*** Lesson Details ***
I do my absolute best to create a positive atmosphere for my students. Even when the students feel frustrated or stressed, it is important to inspire them and give them the fuel that they need. Though I am strict when it comes to homework and their about their studies. Every lesson at the beginning I will review what we learned previously and test them.
then begin with proper breathing technique exercises, the cornerstone of all vocals. We move on to vocal exercises to condition the voice. Then we work on the songs that you are eager to sing!

I will use a piano when doing vocal warm ups and conditioning exercises. Students that play other instruments and accompany themselves when performing (such as a guitar) are encouraged to bring that instrument to their lessons. My goal is for them to gain the knowledge that they need to help reach their artistic goals.
With all my lessons every student will be taught a basic run down of Music Theory. My students will always progress in what they do. They will have the discipline that they need and yet have fun and be filled with inspiration. Which is the most important thing, to be Inspired to do better.

*** Studio Equipment ***
iMac, condensing mic...performing mic, keyboard, mixer...living room of apartment.

*** Travel Equipment ***
I do have a portable keyboard. Though I do expect the student to have their own recording device and karaoke tracks. At Home I do have a studio, and if the students has an iPod or an Mp3 player I can attach it to a device where all of us can hear the tracks. I do have a recording studio as well.

*** Specialties ***
I specialize in Musical Theatre, and Pop rock genres. When I teach my students I always have them learn a song of another language whether it's Spanish or Japanese. It helps with diction when they learn a song outside the English Language. Also It helps them to learn another Language at the same time. Initially I like to evaluate the student's current comprehension level (regardless of years studied) to better select the appropriate starting point. From there, if there is a specific subject matter or course work/syllabus for a class that needs to be followed, I can tailor lessons to fit those needs. Throughout lessons, I like to bring in elements such as cartoons, newspapers, movie clips, etc. to aid in understanding everyday usage & make learning practical and pertinent to the student.

About Kenji Luis
I grew up speaking English, Portuguese & Japanese in a multilingual family and from a young age developed a strong affinity & penchant for languages. I attended an English-Portuguese Bilingual school through 6th grade and studied Japanese 4 years in high school, along with weekend Japanese school classes. In college I went on to major in International Relations & Diplomacy with a concentration in French studies, also honing my Spanish that I had picked up along the way (with Romance Languages, I have a very easy time of language absorption). I've gone on to work for international companies wherein my language skills have been highly sought after, translating & communicating often in all my language strengths.

O genki desu ka?
Hi, I'm Richard, and I can teach you simple Japanese. I graduated from BYU in Japanese and lived as an LDS Missionary in Tokyo for two years in 2003-2005. I love teaching everything that I know in a simple, understandable way. So I can help you learn the basics faster than you would normally. I know what it's like learning in school where you seem to take forever, and don't get very good. I also know what it's like talking to many people in Japan, and learning very quickly, and knowing the difference. I want to help you learn as efficiently and as quickly as possible. I also have a one hour presentation of the basics of Japanese grammar, that basically covers like the first 2 years of college Japanese classes! No joke, it's a powerpoint presentation I've put together that will really give you the "big picture" with the backwards grammar that we try to understand. Ask me any question, and I'll do my best to help you out! Mata ne!

About Richard
My goal is to help students ENJOY the piano by finding ways to make it easier and doable. I have a very useful approach in helping students become self sufficient to sight read very well, to see patterns, understand music theory to either help them play well, or to even create their own music(I compose a lot of great music as well)

I couldn't sight read very well until I was 16, but I had a great sight reading teacher that showed me how to develop it, and now I can say that I'm one of the best sight readers out there that I know. I was a ballet pianist at Brigham Young University for several years where all I did was sightread binders full of ballet/classical music. I play for choirs, church congregations, jazz bands, or musical jam sessions all the time, and I couldn't do that at all if I didn't learn how to sight read well.
I would love to help you learn the piano, and I will do my best to make learning as effective as possible. I especially enjoy teaching those who quit and would like to try again, because I know what that is like.

Concerning my musical background, I've played, arranged, and composed piano for choirs, bands, jazz combos, singers. I've been in bands all my life, and have composed for jazz bands, choirs, and orchestras at BYU and in Eastern Europe. I also play about 10 different instruments. I won two Student Emmys in Hollywood for my compositions to BYU's animations in 2010 & 2014.

I am currently writing music for video games.

Initially my son was reluctant to take lessons. He would conveniently forget the time and day of his lesson. But after three lessons the conversation changed, he reminded me of the time and day. Over the last four lessons Richard and my son have recorded a song. I recommend Richard to any Parent with children that are interested in music as the subject matter. He is accomplished, gracious, demanding but patient.

I've been teaching Japanese since I was a teenager (am 30 years old now) and very patient. I Have helped several students reach fluency levels in Japanese over the years. If you have a goal I'll help you get there.

About Stephen
Currently looking for new students.
I teach piano, japanese, chess, go(weiqi/baduk), and meditation/self-improvement.
I am very proficient in all of the above subjects and have helped dozens of students reach their long-term goals over the years. I am also very patient and have taught children piano lessons for more than 10 years. As a learner I know how overwhelming new subject-matter could be and I tend to understand the pace that the student needs/wants to go at.
I feel a huge sense of accomplishment when I see my students improving. I also am constantly improving myself as a teacher so the lessons will only get better and the material should be easier to understand with time.
Let's master anything you want to work on, and have a lot of fun too :)
Thanks for reading!

Today, I have full Japanese fluency, and have worked in both Kashiwazaki, Niigata Prefecture--the deep countryside--and the hectric center of Tokyo. But, like so many of you, I started learning Japanese on my own, with only textbooks and cassette tapes. I am almost fully self-taught, and didn't take my first actual 'Japanese class' until my time at Florida State University. Starting out learning at age six, I understand what works and what doesn't when learning at home. My lessons consist of real-world examples and pop-culture related materials, that won't lose your attention.

I also cultivate lessons depending on what you struggle with. Having trouble with Kanji? I can help untangle all of that confusion. Need grammar help? We'll chat until the grammar just comes naturally. Just let me know your goals, and we'll work together!

About Carley
I'm a Japanese translator and teacher, who has lived everywhere from Tokyo, Japan to Salem, Oregon and everywhere in between. Currently based in Mississippi, I'd love to share the incredible gift of language with those who have a passion for Japan and Japanese culture!

I began learning Japanese at the age of six, when I fell into a world of anime and video games. Largely self-taught, I graduated from Florida State University in 2012 with a B. A. in Japanese Language and Culture, and moved to Japan three months later.

In Japan, I was an educator for a few years in the countryside, before moving to Tokyo to work at a financial company as a translator and editor. In 2015, I passed the JLPT N1, the highest level of the Japanese Language Proficiency Test, held in only six cities in the US.

I have worked as a translator for seven years, an
d currently work at IYUNO, translating and creating subtitles for soon-to-be-aired Netflix titles from Japan. In the past, I worked with emmy-award winning director Leo Eaton, as a translator and editor for the PBS documentary 'Sacred Journeys.'

As someone who loves popular culture, and sees anime, manga and video games as excellent outlets to help Japanese stick in the minds of students, my lessons are hand-crafted for every student, and not bland or regurgitated material. Japanese is difficult, but with some confidence and passion, it's a gift that young people can enjoy for a lifetime.

I am happy to teach from my home in Madison, but am also happy to teach at nearby establishments, such as Starbucks or the local library. Please don't hesitate to contact me with questions!
