I've been teaching Spanish for over 10 years in universities (SDSU and Georgetown), private schools and through private lessons, and my students have gone on to develop a deep love of Spanish culture, study abroad in Latin America, and more! It is important for me to get to know my students and their goals so that I can adapt my lessons to their pace and needs. I love working with students of all experience levels and espero contar con su presencia!
I am currently just accepting students for long commitment with the lessons.

About Ana
Hi, there! My name is Ana and I can't wait to meet you! I've been teaching Spanish since 2007 and have loved helping my students to reach their goals whether that was getting ready for a test, learning their ancestors language or getting fluent for their next job destination. I went to San Diego State University and earned a Master's program in Spanish linguistics. I also pursued a second Masters in Spain (my home country) in Teaching Spanish as a Second Language. I'm a motivated and dynamic teacher who has learnt that all students can learn a second language if they are challenged and encouraged. I look forward to helping you reach your goals!

Ana is an excellent instructor. She speaks English very well so it is easy to follow and understand her. She is very experienced in explaining Spanish grammar and sentence structure and comparing it to English so that the concepts are easier to grasp. Her program is structured and tailored to the student's needs and goals. She is also friendly and easy to work with.

Ana is a delight. From the very first session we had, where we discussed my linguistic goals, she has been professional, knowledgeable, and encouraging. She makes time for me, accommodates my schedule, and is always full of positive energy each time we meet. With Ana's help, I have no doubt that my dream of being fluent in Spanish is going to come true. I cannot recommend her more highly!

Ana is great! She gave me materials before our first class and we had a quick chat. The first lesson was informative and fun. She clearly puts a lot of time and effort into what she does and I'm grateful to have found her.

I have been literally to 4 youtube teachers and though I have nothing bad to say about any of them, i know that I need a long term teacher that I can see myself growing with as a singer. Our personalities just meshed. She knows how to make one feel comfortable. She is very encouraging to students with zero self confidence like me. I think I have found the teacher I’ve been looking for in Elena! i’m excited to see what she can do to transform my voice. Her resume as well as her reviews( students spoke highly of her character) are what stood out for me out of thousands of teachers online! It is also important that I love to listen to my teacher’s voice and i love her voice😊

Native speaker (originally from Cuba). I have a Bachelor in Art History and Spanish Literature from University of Havana, Cuba. Awarded excellence in grammar and creative writing. I have experience teaching Spanish to students of very young ages to adults. All ages welcome. Lessons are customized and catered to the needs/goals of each student. Learning a language should be a joyful experience and one that will be a positive change in your life. Practicing conversation is always the best way to learn a language, specially having the opportunity to talk with a native Spanish speaker.

About Yali
I received a Master of Design in Fashion, Body and Garment at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC) and a Bachelor in Art History at the University of Havana, Cuba. I’m a multidisciplinary designer that blurs the line between fashion and visual arts. I launched in 2009 a project titled “Normal Is Good” centered in the development of clothing collections with presentations in Havana, Cuba; Paris, France; Liverpool, England and Miami, Chicago, NY, US.

Once I moved to New York I participated in an internship at Victor de Souza Company and I was quickly hired for the position of Production Manager and began assisting Mr. De Souza in executing and coordinating fashion shows.

As an artist and designer I feel more inclined towards education than working in the fashion industry. I feel great joy teaching and this would be a wonderf
ul opportunity for me to share my knowledge. The lessons are customized to your needs. I will only cover the subject that you are interested in, and are relevant to achieving your goals. Even if your goals are not that clear I can help you to discover what is it that you want.

Sometimes I have been approached by people who, although they do not want to pursue a career in fashion or art, want advice on how customize their image. I can help you to express your individuality and embrace your freedom.

As a designer I have also collaborated producing the costume designs for plays like: "Post-Plástica", Museo del Barrio, NY (2012) and "Schwanze-Beast", Vermont Performance Lab, Vermont (2015).

In 2015 I released the film-documentary, "Normal Is Good (I like America and America likes me)" at Gene Siskel Film Center, Chicago. "All the things she says" is my most recent solo exhibition at Galería de la Biblioteca Pública Rubén Martínez Villena, Havana, Cuba (2017). I was selected as part of 2017 NYFA Immigrant Artist Mentoring Program for Performing and Literary Arts, New York Foundations for the Arts, NY, US.

My knowledge of art and design and my international perspective, are elements that enrich my approach to education.

Yali is a WONDERFUL Spanish teacher. She teaches my 13-year-old daughter in such an engaging way that my daughter insists on *not* taking Spanish at school but instead learning solely with Yali (and also when she's experiencing full immersion in a Spanish-speaking country). The fact that Yali is from Cuba and a magical fashionista is a super fun added bonus.

Private lessons allow me to give my undivided attention to my students and attend to their needs, adjusting my program to their unique way of learning, making it a very enjoyable and rewarding experience.

About Gloria
Hola!

I am a native Spanish speaker from Peru that offers private Spanish Lessons. I have two years of professional experience teaching in a private setting. I enjoy working one-on-one with students because it allows me to give them my undivided attention and attend to their particular needs. I truly enjoy the freedom to teach at each student's pace, there is no rush or pressure to complete the program.

I work with a series of books that will take us from beginner to advanced level. I provide extra materials and exercises that will help you reinforce the concepts learned by practicing.
I also teach Conversational Spanish, those lessons are particularly develop for students of advanced level that need to continue practicing the language in order to maintain their level.
During all my lessons, I like to provide students with tips
and creative ideas of how to practice Spanish in-between lessons, students always find my suggestions very helpful and something that they never thought of doing before.

You will find that as a teacher I am very patient, kind and warm. It is important for me to offer a welcoming and safe environment for learning. By making my students feel comfortable and relax I ensure that they will be fully present during my lessons.

Learning a new language is exciting and can also be intimidating. I truly hope you give me the opportunity to work with you and embark in this fun adventure together!

I have a BA from the University of Texas in Austin in Spanish. But where did I really learn Spanish? I grew up in Texas and had great Spanish speaking friends which influenced my ability to understand and "feel" the language.

I do know textbook Spanish and can help with verb conjugation and the like, but I intuitively know inflection and how to use it.

I can explain how to manipulate the muscles of your mouth to make the sounds a native speaker makes. So, if you'd like to sound like a native speaker and want more than just correct grammar, I'm the one for you!

Especially for children, I like to use songs and games. I believe these work for adults, too, but I will let the adult learner decide.

About Marsha
Two of the most interesting types of classes that I like to teach are languages and music, because you can actually do something with them right now! Don’t think I’m saying that math and science are second rate or unnecessary-not me, I love learning all subjects, they really do fit together well.

I grew up around Spanish and music and have never stopped loving them.

Spanish has been in my ears since I was a newborn, my nanny spoke nothing but Spanish to me for the first 18 months of my life. When I did learn to speak, I spoke nothing but English to her-what a stinker I was. She was a member of my extended family, so she wasn’t the only one I heard speak Spanish. Apparently, I understood everything but was too stubborn to use anything but English…well, I am not that way any more.

I've been playing music for 94.444% of my life,
and that number just keeps getting higher. I was introduced to instrumental music at the young age of 3 when my parents bought me a Magnus Chord Organ. I learned how to read written music with the help of my mom and was exposed to many genres by my music loving papa.

If you are interested in me teaching you or your children private lessons, click on the subject to learn more about those specific areas.
