I've been teaching Spanish for 24 years and my students have improved their grades , passed their Spanish tests, decided to travel to Spanish-speaking countries, become better qualified for jobs, enriched their relationships with friends and family and more! Within a few lessons you will feel empowered to communicate: speaking and understanding. Reading and writing skills, grammar, pronunciation, vocabulary will also be addressed as needed.I teach conversational Spanish, SAT subject test in Spanish, CLEP Spanish, AP Spanish language.Within a few lessons you will feel I have the age-appropriate resources, games and creative ideas to instill your love for learning Spanish and getting to know the Spanish culture.

About Carina
I love teaching all ages and levels because I enjoy seeing students learn and achieve personal, social or professional goals. Everybody can learn if I respect the student's needs, pace and learning style, and if I tap into his/ her interests and strengths. A comprehensive approach that includes speaking, reading, writing and listening is necessary, however I focus primarily on communication . I provide knowledge, fun, creativity and flexibility to guarantee a successful pleasant experience for all students.
I am a native from Argentina. I moved to the US in 1996, therefore I can relate to the feelings involved in learning a foreign language. I live a bilingual life raising my daughter who is 14 and my son who is 6 years old . I travel to Argentina once or twice a year. I teach conversational Spanish, SAT subject test in Spanish,
CLEP Spanish, AP Spanish language.

Whether you want it for travel in Latin America, or because you live in an area with lots of native Spanish-speakers, I can help you build your vocabulary and fundamental knowledge of grammatical concepts!
I use a variety of methods, though my teaching is heavily conversation based. I believe conversation needs the foundation for all languages; everything else will fall into place once you learn how to actually express yourself aloud. I also teach using literature/stories/poetry written in the language of focus.
If this is your first time learning a foreign language, Spanish will be your gateway! (And I will be your guide).

About Malka
Dear Potential Students,
Welcome to my page -I am excited to meet you! I have taught private students for about three years now, and I enjoy it immensely. A short biography as it pertains to how we will work together: I spent two years in the world of professional Opera, and three in the Jewish music/clergy world, and experienced music as a powerful connector in both worlds. The human voice is unique in terms of its capability for depth and expression, yet sometimes we don't know how to unlock power of our own voices (literal and metaphorical).
This is where I come in. I offer my clients a way of learning to sing with their unique, authentic voice using a combination of emotional and purely technical tools. Singing is a very vulnerable undertaking, so I take a holistic approach, and I give my students a technique that is easily applied
to virtually any genre of music. Whether you want to pursue a career as an opera singer, rock star, pop singer, or you just want to sing for the sheer pleasure of it doesn't matter. What matters is that you sing. Looking forward to hearing from you!

Native speaker (originally from Cuba). I have a Bachelor in Art History and Spanish Literature from University of Havana, Cuba. Awarded excellence in grammar and creative writing. I have experience teaching Spanish to students of very young ages to adults. All ages welcome. Lessons are customized and catered to the needs/goals of each student. Learning a language should be a joyful experience and one that will be a positive change in your life. Practicing conversation is always the best way to learn a language, specially having the opportunity to talk with a native Spanish speaker.

About Yali
I received a Master of Design in Fashion, Body and Garment at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC) and a Bachelor in Art History at the University of Havana, Cuba. I’m a multidisciplinary designer that blurs the line between fashion and visual arts. I launched in 2009 a project titled “Normal Is Good” centered in the development of clothing collections with presentations in Havana, Cuba; Paris, France; Liverpool, England and Miami, Chicago, NY, US.

Once I moved to New York I participated in an internship at Victor de Souza Company and I was quickly hired for the position of Production Manager and began assisting Mr. De Souza in executing and coordinating fashion shows.

As an artist and designer I feel more inclined towards education than working in the fashion industry. I feel great joy teaching and this would be a wonderf
ul opportunity for me to share my knowledge. The lessons are customized to your needs. I will only cover the subject that you are interested in, and are relevant to achieving your goals. Even if your goals are not that clear I can help you to discover what is it that you want.

Sometimes I have been approached by people who, although they do not want to pursue a career in fashion or art, want advice on how customize their image. I can help you to express your individuality and embrace your freedom.

As a designer I have also collaborated producing the costume designs for plays like: "Post-Plástica", Museo del Barrio, NY (2012) and "Schwanze-Beast", Vermont Performance Lab, Vermont (2015).

In 2015 I released the film-documentary, "Normal Is Good (I like America and America likes me)" at Gene Siskel Film Center, Chicago. "All the things she says" is my most recent solo exhibition at Galería de la Biblioteca Pública Rubén Martínez Villena, Havana, Cuba (2017). I was selected as part of 2017 NYFA Immigrant Artist Mentoring Program for Performing and Literary Arts, New York Foundations for the Arts, NY, US.

My knowledge of art and design and my international perspective, are elements that enrich my approach to education.

Yali is a WONDERFUL Spanish teacher. She teaches my 13-year-old daughter in such an engaging way that my daughter insists on *not* taking Spanish at school but instead learning solely with Yali (and also when she's experiencing full immersion in a Spanish-speaking country). The fact that Yali is from Cuba and a magical fashionista is a super fun added bonus.

Lessons will be customized to whatever your individual goals/needs may be! I was part of a Spanish immersion program and speak the language fluently. Have traveled to many Spanish speaking countries and am a Spanish teacher in New York City. Looking forward to working with you!

About Kat
I am a professional singer, songwriter, actor, and teacher. I graduated from Coastal Carolina University with a Bachelors of Fine Arts in Musical Theatre (with a minor in Spanish)! Originally from North Carolina, I moved to New York City in order to pursue my dream of being an actress! Upon my arrival in New York, I quickly found that I also have an incredible passion for songwriting and teaching. Currently, I am pursuing a career in music and working as a teacher.

If you choose to study voice with me, you can expect to improve your technique weekly using a variety of vocal warm ups and songs. In my Spanish lessons, you can expect to work through grammar, speaking, reading, and writing. I learned Spanish through an immersive academic program (K-12) and then I minored in Spanish in college so I not only have an understanding of the language from an academic standpoint but I also have been speaking Spanish for nearly the entirety of my life! I have worked with beginner Spanish speakers to native Spanish speakers helping with grammar and writing skills. We will work together to build up your confidence in speaking and understanding Spanish and before you know it, we'll be able to have our lessons fully in Spanish!

I am looking forward to meeting you and working with you soon!!
