Spanish I-IV tutoring offered, Spanish phonics and pronunciation assistance

About Daniel
My name is Daniel B. I have my B. Sci degree in Psychology/Neuroscience and I am currently a Research Assistant at Harvard Medical School. My academic focus lies in neurodegenerative diseases, schizophrenia, memories, and consciousness.

Since its founding in 2006, I have been involved Neighbor to Neighbor Outreach (NTNO), a non-profit organization whose goal it is to insure that the children, youth, and adults of inner-city St. Louis are provided tutoring for every imaginable subject. Upon graduation, I moved to Boston to continue research in preparation for a PhD in Neuroscience. Here, i continue to tutor within and outside the university setting.

My teaching style is quite simple and effective. I initially gauge the student's level of understanding of the subject or skill that he/she wishes to master. I then create a comprehensiv
e learning plan which pushes the student to his/her limits while making the learning process both enjoyable and rewarding.

If you find yourself in need of my assistance, just let me know. I am able to work around your schedule and I am available to be contacted anytime.

*** Lesson Details ***
Initial Lesson:

- Preferred and/or most efficient study style is determined.
- Goals are set.

Each lesson will vary according to the student. As far as music studies are concerned, we will begin by ensuring mastery of the basics such as note recognition, chords, and correct fingering.

For each subject, the pattern will be similar. We will work on the basics and then we will progress commensurately.

Daniel was the perfect tutor for my son's prep for the GED. He was patient, prepared to help with test taking skills along with the actual content of the tests, and made himself available on a very short notice. In addition, Daniel is just a nice, respectful person that was a pleasure to interact with. I can not say enough. Highly recommend him!

About Christelle
Bienvenido/a a mi perfil. Me llamo Christelle y soy profesora. ¡Encantada!

I was born in Argentina and spent the first half of my life there and then moved to Spain, where I lived until 2016 when I moved to Chicago area.

ABOUT MY PRIVATE LESSONS

I can help you improve your current level of Spanish, help your children with Spanish at school, or teach you Spanish from scratch!

⋆ LOCATIONS
I live in Bloomingdale and work in the DuPage county area. I meet most of my students in local coffee shops like Starbucks or Panera, but at-home lessons are possible as well.

⋆ LESSON FREQUENCY AND LENGTH

It would depend on your goals. School tutoring usually requires less time because Spanish at school is extremely basic and it’s doesn’t really lead to fluency in the language. Anything else needs a greater degree of commitment! I meet my students for one hour once or twice per week AT LEAST.

⋆ TEACHING METHOD
For school tutoring I try to adapt to your school’s method. For other types of lessons, I prefer avoiding translation and memorization and make use of effective Spanish textbooks, technology, games and free conversation.

⋆ SCHEDULE / AVAILABILITY
I mostly teach Monday-Friday afternoons and weekends in the morning.

⋆ RESCHEDULING / CANCELLATIONS / PUNCTUALITY
I understand flexibility is convenient and appreciated, so I allow rescheduling and cancellations in case of emergency or with enough advance notice. I recommend students to stick to their agreed schedule if they want to achieve their goals, even if that means to meet at another time during that same week. If I am already on my way to your lesson and you need to cancel, I will charge for the lesson. If you’re going to be late, please let me know, and I can’t guarantee that I can stay later than our scheduled time.

⋆ FIRST LESSON
During our first lesson we will take time to go over any important information, set our goals and answer questions regarding nature of our lessons. We can talk about fees and teaching materials during this lesson as well.

For any more details or any questions, please don’t hesitate contacting me!

We found Christelle on this website and could not be more thrilled. She was able to meet all of our requirements in an art tutor, speaking perfect Spanish to my daughter and always energetic during the lessons. My daughter cannot wait for the next lesson to come every week!

Isabel is teaching my daughter for the last month and half and words fail to express my gratitude and happiness to find her as my daughter's teacher. She is very friendly, knowledgeable and designs the class based on my daughter's ability. I already seen lot of improvement in my daughter's Spanish speaking ability and also she is feeling confident. I am recommending her to my friend's and family who are planning Spanish lessons for their kids. Apart from Spanish she is fluent in Italian, German, French and Portuguese. A person who is affluent in so many languages really has the ability to understand the tricks of the trade in learning new languages and teaching new languages as well. We are going to continue with her for few more months and I am planning to take lessons as well. Overall, we are very very pleased with her teaching skills. Big Thums Up.

I recommend her to everyone who wants to learn Spanish.

Learn Spanish through music, videos, conversation, and live practice. I will help you build a solid foundation for basic Spanish and help build your confidence with pronunciation and speaking with native speakers.

About Frankline
I've been teaching since undergrad, working with students ages 6-18. Through this experience 30% of my students were ESL and as a result created curriculum based on that information. I hold very high expectations for my students and they are always able to meet them! I've spent 8 years studying Spanish and have traveled to 3 Spanish speaking countries. I love the language and the experiences it has offered me - I want to be able to share that with others. Lastly, I am currently a middle school History teacher. About 73% of my students are ESL and have individual needs, as a result my curriculum must always have ESL accommodations.

I've studied Spanish for 7 years in schools throughout the world including Los Angeles, Tijuana, and Costa Rica. By participating in exchange programs, I've gained knowledge about the intricacies of the language and the dedication it takes to improve one's proficiency.

About Jessica
I've always been an avid learner and a self-proclaimed bookworm; The Giver has been my favorite book since childhood. However, I am no stranger to struggling or just needing a bit of extra help in the classroom, and I believe this experience helps me excel as a tutor. I am involved in Biology Olympiad, Writing Fellows, Peer Mentors, Mock Trial, and I even helped found a non-profit community service organization. My main passion is research - right now I'm studying adolescent mental health. I am majoring in Psychology and Political Science at UCLA, and in my free time, I love to hike, travel, and make key lime pie!

My classes can be adapted to the needs of each student. We can follow a traditional methodology (focusing on the area that involves more difficulty), or combine it with more up-to-date exercises and activities (working with TV shows and series, music, conversations ...) where, without realizing, you will be learning and at the same time internalizing the language in a different way.

About Lucia
Hello! My name is Lucia, I am native Spanish speaker from Barcelona, Spain.
I started teaching students when I was very young at the age of 17 as a private tutor.

My passion for teaching went on so I ended up doing a master in education for Spanish and English language after getting my degree in Translation & interpreting.

I was an english teacher in a private school during two years in Barcelona. Now I am moving to Boston and I am very excited to have my new team of students! Really looking forward to meeting you!

When I moved to Spain for work reasons, I spoke very little Spanish. Lucia came recommended and I am so pleased to have met her. Lucia did something so simple and yet so crucial for anyone learning a new language: she made me feel comfortable speaking it with her. I’m a pretty shy person, but Lucia made me feel at home and as a result I spoke more freely and quickly became more confident... it’s a chain reaction which allowed me to socialize more and better with Spaniards, which in turn has also helped me improve greatly my language skills. Lucia connects on a personal level while never ceasing to be extremely professional. My classes with her helped me greatly as I adapted to my new life here in Spain.
