I grew up in the German part of Switzerland. I was exposed to the language throughout my schooling years. In my professional life as a doctor's assistant and later CEO assistant I needed to communicate daily in the German language. I studied business for 3 years. Over the last 3 years I have taught numerous people German. Some only need a little guidance, others keep on coming back to master more fluent conversation.

I'm flexible with my time and willing to adapt to my students' needs.

About Karin
Guten Tag,
My name is Karin. I was born and raised in Switzerland. However, Miami is my home now. I love the unique melting pot of Miami. No wonder so many German speaking tourists, investors and patrons are visiting here.

Over more than ten years I have taught numerous people the German language. Some of them only need a little guidance to have a more pleasant traveling experience to Germany. Others keep on coming back to master fluent conversation and writing skills. I'm passionate about tutoring. My goal is to provide an atmosphere that will facilitate an ongoing level of improvement in my students' speaking, writing proficiency. You'll see this by the way I teach. I am flexible with my time and adapt easily to my students' needs. As a first step I get familiar with your expectations. Secondly I recommend an approach that fits you
. Thirdly I want you to have fun and learn in an interactive way.

Bis bald!

PS: Cancellations must be notified at least 24 hours in advance; otherwise, students will be charged in full. Group rates vary.

Karin is unbelievably good at carrying personal conversations about what is important to yourself. Enabling me to talk about my live and goals in German was not easy, but forced what I learned in school 35 years ago back to a basic conversation level in a mere 10 lessons.
Ready to hit the road.

Karin is a great tutor. After many months of various tutoring sessions I have been able to successfully write better in German and pass my AP German class. She is recommended for anyone who needs some help with German and has a very flexible schedule. Lastly, she is very patient and willing to translate any and everything, as well as work a little bit after time.

*****Each Online Lesson with Free Video & MP3 Recording*****

I grew up bilingual English and German, attending an international school from a very young age. I attended, also, a German public secondary school, where I earned a diploma, and I completed German credits at the college level. I taught German in the language lab of a community college, for special needs students, and for private agencies, such as Tutor Doctor. My emphasis is on a comparative introduction of the language to draw out a common ground and familiarize possibly daunting differences. I also enjoy asserting that German is often underestimated as a rewarding second language to study. I have experience teaching German literature, elementary German, and German grammar. I lived in Germany for over 18 years. I am member of the Association for Language Learning, located in Leicester, UK.

***lesson cancelations and schedule changes need to be submitted through your Takelessons.com student website. It is difficult for teacher to handle multiple informal requests***

My style and attitude toward teaching is a balance between subject delivery and reflective, supportive interaction. I seek to enable current research on education for busy, yet goal-driven student interests. This is done through customized online lessons coordinating the experience with optimal resources and tools. Examples are helping ESL students to monitor their own phonic issues with dedicated software/feedback, guiding German students through conversational dialogues, and ta
iloring Excel and related productivity lessons for particular prerequisites.

Due to my limited funds, I do not have direct experience with the Adobe suite, but I have extensive knowledge of related, free distributions that are transferable. I also have formal education in the field of English, innovative leadership, and Education. My current level is PhD candidate (currently passed defense, so pretty much done) for the terminal degree in Education. I am member of the Association for Language Learning, located in Leicester, UK.
My most popular subjects are as follows:

North American English Pronunciation Practice for ESL (NAEPP-ESL) or Accent-Reduction:
*****Each Online Lesson with Free Video & MP3 recordings, and about 50 GB onedrive folder for lesson files*****

Carefully following Burkkowsky's (1969) multi-media method, I have taught this subject for over five years for public and private causes, such as library, individuals, and language schools. My emphasis for pronunciation is a scientific, comprehensive overview and treatment of the various sounds, rhythms, inflections, and patterns the spoken language integrates. I encourage practicing and mastering both the sounds themselves, as well as how the sounds are connected and contextualized. I use contemporary sound recording and .wav editing software (acoustic waveform analysis) to enable dynamic feedback and self-monitoring .

This spreadsheet and data management software program is of crucial, pivotal importance in any business and financial environment. The program enables efficient and prompt development of arithmetic and statistical calculations of vast data sets. It also helps to visualize and juxtapose related or even discrepant variables. My approach to teaching the program is cumulative and holistic, starting with an introduction to personal inventory management to the processing of large data sets using pivot tables, charts, and dashboards. My emphasis is on making the program as intelligible and transparent as possible to avoid frustration and intimidation. I use a lot of examples and visuals that are readily available.

Typing:
***It is recommended students own or have regular access to a personal computer after 2002 in order to get the best benefit***

I teach the touch-typing method that is the convention for most journalistic and input-intensive organizational settings. I teach the home row, proper finger and hand positions, proficiency with left and right hands, as well as posture and concentration methods. I enrich the teaching with resources from the web, such as speed-building and error reduction.

I am a native German speaker and have been teaching German since September 2011.
My students are pre-k -12 th Graders and occasionally adults, mostly Business German. SAT prep for German and German with listening.

About Kerstin
I graduated from the Harvard Graduate School of Education in June 2007 with a Master in Education (Arts in Education) degree. During my studies I worked in the framework of the Artful Adventures Program (Museum of Fine Arts in Boston), which provides object - based learning and hands on artistic experiences for elementary and middle school kids. My own research was about “Creative Insight in Practice" and "Acquiring English as a Second Language and Developing Self-Esteem through the Idiom of Art". I have more than a two decades-long experience in painting, drawing, printmaking and installation work. The images I use in my work are mostly based on self-made or collected photos or drawings from nature combined with literature or self-made phrases. I use digital tools in order to layer text, photos and drawings and combine them to a new work.
Photo and text based collages will often merge into drawings or watercolors and these are the starting point for my large scale oil paintings.

Kerstin has been teaching German to both my kids for the past several years. Their grammar, vocabulary and pronunciation has improved dramatically. Kerstin has done a tremendous job tailoring her lessons to the different needs and learning preferences my children who very much appreciated this tailored approach. Most recently, Kerstin helped to prepare my oldest daughter for her German SAT subject test with outstanding results. I can highly recommend her.

Kerstin has been a great teacher for my two sons. Kerstin always made an special effort to provide teaching material that was not only age appropriate and appropriate for their level of proficiency, but was also tailored to their particular interests. Her teaching style is methodical, while also casual and interactive, and thus well suited to provide a positive learning experience, particularly for children and adolescents. Both my children have benefited greatly from her teaching and I would recommend her highly.

Outstanding instructor, professionally gifted, helpful, patient and personable. I was fortunate to have found Elisabeth to teach my 9 year old son how to play the violin. Wie geht's (what's up! How's it going)? If you're looking for a German tutor to help you get through your studies in school, your music as a singer, or as a casual speaker, look no further. We'll practice writing skills, conversation skills, and improve pronunciation (so that your German is "Hoch Deutsch," or what the Germans call "High German" pronunciation).

About Nicole
Nicole is available to teach lessons for students of all levels. Beginning her singing career when she was 7, she most recently sang at the Lyric Opera of Chicago, was a winner of the international CS Competition in musical theatre, and is a Chicago F.A.M.E. finalist for Jazz and popular music. Combined with her training and professional experience, Nicole teaches singers to switch gracefully between multiple styles. She practices what she preaches: one night she might be singing Beyoncé, and the next morning she might be singing Handel's Messiah!

Nicole has been a young artist for Cedar Rapids Opera Theatre, Metropolitan International Music Festival, and for Tiroler Opern Programm, under international instructors, including Elizabeth Bachman (from the Metropolitan Opera), Kim Josephson (Metropolitan Opera), Sharon Cheng (Caramoor),
Michael Fennely (Carnegie Hall), Wei-En Hsu (Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra), and Candace Evans (Santa Fe Opera). Nicole earned her Associates in Theatre from Brigham Young University ('12) and went on to acquire her BM in Vocal Performance from Illinois Wesleyan University ('14). Nicole obtained additional training from Boston University, Elon University, and the University of Alaska Anchorage.

Experienced language educator of 3 years. Taught all ages and level students.
German is the largest language spoken in Europe with over 80 million native speakers. Germany is a leading economic power in modern Europe. Improve your business and language skills by delving deeper into the German language and culture for your prospective clients!

About Nicholas
I'm a certified ESL instructor from the United States. I graduated with honors from the University of Georgia with degrees in both German and Political Science.

English and German students can expect to improve every session depending on the students' needs, for example, pronunciation help, test prep (IELTS,GRE), interview skills, literacy, homework assistance, current issues, etc

Essentially, I believe students learn by example. My bilingual and multicultural upcoming allowed me to see and understand the world differently. Spending summers with my Paraguayan grandparents as a child and learning German by living with a host family as a teenager demanded that I had to be creative and work with others to simply understand and to flourish. As an elementary school teacher, foundations must be taught and understood through the teacher and f
ellow students. My hope is that my students will learn and grow to care and understand the world through others' perspectives and languages.

As a professional, I look forward to meeting you and facilitating your growth in either the English or German Language.
