I grew up in the German part of Switzerland. I was exposed to the language throughout my schooling years. In my professional life as a doctor's assistant and later CEO assistant I needed to communicate daily in the German language. I studied business for 3 years. Over the last 3 years I have taught numerous people German. Some only need a little guidance, others keep on coming back to master more fluent conversation.

I'm flexible with my time and willing to adapt to my students' needs.

I can speak four languages, so I understand what it is like to learn a new language which is what makes me an excellent German tutor and teacher. My father is Swiss-German and my mother's ancestors are mostly German. I knew a bit of German growing up but I took German classes in school from ages 12-18 and ended up with an International Baccalaureate certificate in German. I also love German people and culture so come and learn with me, it would be my honor to teach you!

Elise is a knowledgeable, professional, ethical, engaged, and helpful tutor. She has been especially helpful in the complexities of learning a new language and made sure I really understood complex grammatical rules and how to apply them. She is also personable, warm, kind, inviting, and really cares about her student's progress.

She was on time, well prepared and engaged in all our meetings. I learned a lot. So far she has been the best German tutor I have had. Cannot recommend Elise enough for language lessons!

I've been taking piano lessons with Jonathan for over a month now and I've been very pleased with his teaching. He's extremely knowledgeable and skilled, but what I appreciate most is his enthusiasm during lessons. He keeps the lessons fun, even when the subject matter is difficult. On top of this, he's just a cool, nice guy who I've enjoyed getting to know.

Working with Johnathan has been a joy.

It was my purpose setting out to study music in general, not just to study an instrument but to use the instrument as a means of approaching music in the abstract. I set out to study music’s mechanics and theoretical foundations.

Jonathan is very knowledgeable and very meticulous. He has a precise and analytical sort of mind, and very strong foundations in his classical training.

To have a wealth of knowledge in one's subject is not enough, one also has to know how to teach (which is a whole skillset of its own). It is clear Jonathan is an experienced teacher. I have never felt rushed with Jonathan, he is very generous with his time. He provides ample resources for study outside of our sessions, and is quick to respond to emails. He has lent me books, sent me links to videos, and provided me with plenty of homework.

Jonathan has also been very accommodating in allowing me to have some authority in planning lessons and exploring my own interests. Particularly I wanted to study modal music and found a folk song in the Locrian Mode. We took a break from the Suzuki work we had been doing and he helped me transcribe the song and practice.

I could not recommend Jonathan enough, I am switching focus from violin to piano for the time being and will be employing him as my piano tutor, and I’m very much considering taking spanish lessons under his tutelage as well.
Ian S.
Ian Really enjoyed his lesson. Jonathan is very knowledgeable and helped Ian with his basic skills and gave him great pointers. He also gave him an outline and daily practice requirements.

"Wolfgang is an excellent teacher and more importantly a great resource! He takes his time and quickly determines the best learning techniques (and also the pace) for his students. I have always dreamed of being able to speak a second language and with the help from Wolfgang, I can speak with native speakers, read in the language and even use it in my professional setting. Wolfgang truly has taught me far more than the basics and more importantly keeps me motivated for more!

Wolfgang is not only extremely knowledgeable of the German language in its grammatical form, but also the culture, the usage of the language, and the history of the language as well. He will no doubt give you the most in depth explanations for any questions you may have and will also do it without making you feel ashamed for asking! His lessons are fun, intuitive, and extremely helpful.

I highly recommend Wolfgang for your language learning goals! He is always punctual, always prepared, and answers any questions you may have, no matter how many times he has to explain it! Please give him a chance, he is a wealth of knowledge, makes his lessons fun, and I promise you will not regret it!!"
