I had a great session with Wakana and am excited to do more. She was very interested in why I wanted to learn Japanese and is tailoring the lessons to help me get the most out of it. She made it very interesting and fun. Recommend 10/10!

I've seen Wakana several times over the summer in preparation for a fall class, and I'm confidant that she is more than capable of helping me through the two years of the language need for graduation. She has a strong grasp of both English and, from what I can tell, Japanese along with great interpersonal skills. I would gladly recommend Wakana to friends and family.

I had so much fun today speaking Japanese with Wakana! She is very kind and will help you if you don't know what to say. I look forward to learning more with Wakana!

My 12 year old son takes Japanese with Toshi weekly for an hour. He has enjoyed the lessons from day one. Toshi is a gifted teacher, and my son appreciates quick breaks during the lesson (it keeps him engaged for longer). My son says Toshi is a nice balance of serious and fun, and he also says what a great teacher he is. Toshi is supportive, encouraging and fun. What more could you ask for?!

Toshi Sensei is very professional and genius. Since my major problems are speaking and listening, he tailored every lesson to my individual needs and included a lot of challenging materials that fit my level. Highly recommend!

Toshi is very knowledgeable and very patient with my 12 year old, he's always happy and smiling and leaves my daughter excited for the next lesson :)

During my undergraduate studies, I worked as a president of SUNY Albany Japanese Student Association and also worked as a TA for Japanese 101 classes, and I absolutely love to teach languages! I understand it is often very hard to find a language tutor outside of the spoken community, and I hope to provide you with the opportunity to be exposed to authentic media sources to acquire natural fluency. Hope to hear from you soon!

I can help you with conversation skills, correct pronunciation and proper grammar. I usually use a textbook called ‘Genki’ for my lessons. I provide the textbook so you don’t have to buy it. With ‘Genki’ we can work on various grammar points, vocabulary building, situational role playing, pronunciation, and plenty of exercises to improve your listening and speaking skills.

I try my best to keep the classes as relaxed as possible so that you can feel comfortable speaking and can learn at your own pace.

Mikuさん is awesome!! Extremely patient and helpful without holding my hand. I’m able to understand sentences better with less than a year of lessons. She’s very professional and prompt. The lessons are always interesting and I actually feel like I’m improving every time (even if it’s just a little at a time). I’m really looking forward to being more conversational in Japanese!!
Cathy
I highly recommend Miku and have recommended her to several friends because lessons with her are extremely fun, engaging, and thorough. I look forward to every single one, and have already learned so much in what seems like a short time--the time flies! She is also incredibly accommodating and makes rescheduling very easy and hassle free. I very much appreciate the time she shares with me as a student in helping me learn the way I do!
Adrienne
Miku is a great teacher to work with! I've been doing weekly lessons with Miku remotely since December of 2019 (now July 2020 as I'm writing this) starting from no experience.  I was worried about my ability to learn a new language since my only experience prior to this was learning Spanish in school years ago, but learning to read and speak Japanese with Miku's guidance has been the right level of challenging and fun.  Miku is a great communicator, flexible, really knowledgeable, adds nuance to the lessons we move through, and also really just fun to talk to and learn from.

Maximize your Japanese learning with an experienced teacher in and outside of lesson time!

I tailor my lessons to each student's learning style, her/his needs and goals. I use Genki 1 and 2 textbooks and workbooks with most of my beginner to intermediate level students, unless other textbooks and/or learning resources are requested.
During the lesson, my focus is generally on the grammar explanations and practice, as well as reading, and speaking practice. Homework is assigned after each lesson, and students are expected to work independently on vocabulary building, unless otherwise requested.
I encourage all of my students to contact me between lessons if they have any questions, and I will try to answer them within 24 hours.

I am currently accepting students ages 16 and up. I am looking forward to meeting you!

I’ve been studying Japanese off and on for almost 20 years. I had reached an upper intermediate level but I wanted to take my ability to a higher level so I started looking for a Japanese tutor. I feel really lucky to have found Rie. She’s a cool person who’s fun to work with. She’s patient and flexible and she always explains things in a way that is easy to understand. She’s as invested in my Japanese learning as I am and it’s hard to place a value on that kind of support and partnership. She also has good textbooks for people at more advanced levels. Without a doubt, my Japanese has improved more in the time I’ve been working with Rie than it has at any other time in all the years I’ve been studying it. If you’re an intermediate or advanced learner of Japanese and you’re looking to improve, Rie can absolutely help you. I couldn’t recommend her more highly.
Teddy
Rie's lessons are super comfortable, her explanations are always crystal clear, and she's great at balancing compliments & critiques. 11/10 Highly, highly recommend !
Samantha
Rie is an excellent tutor regardless of your level in the Japanese language! She caters your lessons to your needs and what you would like to focus on. Her teaching style is helpful and relaxed, and she helps make learning fun! I highly recommend her as a tutor.

"Taro is not only an excellent teacher and an expert on the Japanese language, but he is also an incredibly charismatic and kind human being. I told Taro when we began that I would only be able to take lessons for about a month and a half. He agreed and designed an accelerated version of the curriculum to cover as many essentials as possible before my departure for Japan. I have learned more with him in a month than I learned on my own in a year. Highly recommended."

"This is only the second online lesson that I've ever had in Japanese. My first review that I gave to my former teacher was five stars. This one though, If I can give more than that I would but unfortunately five stars is the limit. Whoever is taking, or considering taking Japanese lessons with Aimi wont be disappointed. I'm in my 50's and Aimi would do anything to make sure that I would grasp the material. I'm 100 percent sure that she is equally outstanding teacher with younger students...And you, whoever you might be out there reading this review and willing to try learning Japaneses, go ahead and schedule a lesson with her; whether you are adult or young I'm confident Aimie will be the perfect fit."
