About Matt

I went to Pensacola Catholic High and graduated in 2003. I then attended and Auburn University, where I became a Christian, and graduated in 2007. Once I finished, I went overseas to teach English and do missions. I taught in Thailand from 2003-2007 and then in China from 2012-2016. I have been teaching since that time and am back home now to get my Master's degree in TESOL. I enjoy teaching people and watching their confidence grow as they learn new skills and develop new abilities. My teaching style is relaxing but challenging; as much as possible, I encourage and motivate students to have a love of learning, not just of this subject but of learning in general.

About Claire

Hello, my name is Claire :) I am French and arrived in the US for the first time in August 2010 to study music. I am starting my second year of Doctorate in Music on a full scholarship at the University of Miami after earning a Master in Music Performance from California State University Fullerton on a full scholarship as well. I am also playing in a professional clarinet quartet called Four Play clarinet. My ultimate goal is to play clarinet and teach music at the University level.

I have the experience of teaching private clarinet lessons in France since 2006 and in America since 2010 and am seeking clarinet students of every level and age. I can help you prepare for high school band/university admission auditions or any other type of performances.

Also, as I am French, I was a French tutor at my University for 6 years and can hel

p you learn French, get ready for exams and midterms or just do conversation if you are more advanced.

About Soleine

I'm a native of the south of France who loves everything that comes with learning and teaching a new language, ranging from basic grammar to literature, including oral conversations about pop culture.

My strong interest for languages oriented me towards a "Literature Baccalaureate" for which I studied - among other fields - German, English, Ancient Greek and Latin, and graduated Summa cum Laude in 2010. After high school, I went on to study for five years at Sciences Po Paris, France's elite school for social and political sciences.

Learning about the hidden history of words and the construction of sentences has always fascinated me, and I strongly believe that this is what makes the difference between a regular native speaker, and one who can actually transmit his knowledge of the language. Writing and speaking a proper french i

s not enough. When it comes to teaching, one has to be able to explain the "why" behind each word, idiom and grammatical rule, because that is how we remember best. Combined with a burning desire to understand movies, songs and books in their original version, this method makes wonders. As one of my best teachers once told me : “ We get into a culture through its language, and we get into a language through its culture.”

But first and foremost, I will adapt the content of my lessons to reach YOUR specific goal, wether it is to chat with friends, understand the news, or even get a job !

Soleine exhibits a lot of patience, which is helpful when learning a new language. Also, she explains how to speak and pronounce, while adding grammar lessons in the process. Looking forward to additional lessons with Soleine!

About Melina

Howdy! I'm from San Antonio, Texas in the United States. I speak English with a neutral American accent, I also speak Spanish fluently. I have also had the pleasure to work with many Brazilian students over the past 4 years, so I can communicate in Portuguese a little. I like to travel, dance, read books, and play with my two dogs. I enjoy teaching because it allows me to meet many people from around the world and learn about different cultures. I look forward to meeting you.

About Mary

After college I decided to travel for a while and landed a job teaching in Shanghai. I worked two years at Shanghai High School, an international school, teaching ESL, English Literature, ESL Asian History to a variety of English levels and age groups. I next moved to Seoul, where I taught beginner level English in public elementary schools. After five years of living in Asia I moved back to the States, and although I am originally from North Carolina, I decided to move to Seattle. I then got a paralegal certificate and worked in law offices for a while, then worked as an events planner at a tech company before going to grad school for counseling.

Recently I graduated and am looking for jobs in the counseling field and hope to teach part-time, as I do miss it! Further, I have diverse life experiences and am therefore very flexible

, creative and open around how we might go about finding the best method for you to enjoy learning English! I am looking forward to getting to know you and working together towards your aspirations and goals!

"Roman is a great instructor all around. I appreciate his diverse teaching methods including instructor-student conversation, flashcards, audio and video
of basic conversations, karaoke to Russian songs, and more. I also benefited from his ability to simplify (what is to me as a native English speaker) unusual grammatical functions found in Russian through the use of tables and charts."

"I just completed my 5th lesson and I highly recommend Youngju. She is extremely knowledgeable and VERY patient. I was nervous to start learning Korean but
Youngju immediately allayed my fear and it has been a pleasure to work with her. We start the lesson with a brief greeting, then review past material before moving on to a new lesson. The hour is intense, but she will tailor the lesson to your comfort level; it goes without saying that preparation is key. If you are serious about learning Korean, use Youngju."
