With my two Bachelor's degrees in Music Composition and Technology, I began tutoring students in piano, voice, and composition as it was part of my training. I also have experience writing and editing essays, books, and more for several independent clients. I have experience writing my own books as well. I have written two so far, but am getting ready to write a third. I am a copious editor and can catch grammatical and other errors with ease. This is why tutoring in English would be great for me.
I thought I would add basic math for those school-aged children that are having a little trouble with it in their classes.
Usually, I teach lessons in my home in Diamond Bar or online, but if the need arises, I could surely work out coming to the students' homes for one-on-one tutoring help. With me, most students click after a few lessons and
understand what they couldn't in the classroom. I help the students by teaching in innovative ways that will catch their attention more than standard teaching methods. Students should consider me for I can make learning fun and never a chore!

*** Lesson Details ***
I use a wide variety of techniques to sing, play piano and other instruments. Techniques include straight vowel singing (no words) to test how long to hold notes, using color to help people sight read, using improvisational techniques in order to play jazz, rock, classical and many other styles of music.
I use what they student has under his or her belt as a starting point to see what lessons we could start them on.
I also assist with online lessons to make transportation a thing of the past. If you've got a webcam or Skype, I can do long-distance lessons with you! So, I am here to help!

*** Studio Equipment ***
Alesis Recital Keyboard
Music sheets
Web cam
Mac computer (MacBook Pro)
Finale music notation software to help in composition and theory lessons.

*** Travel Equipment ***
Music paper for away lessons.
Finale for composition and music theory lessons.
Can use macbook for more elaborate teaching or demonstration if need be.

*** Specialties ***
I do teach classical composition with specialties in ensemble and chamber music. I also specialize in songwriting for pop and other media.
I teach voice and vocal techniques of sacred choral and vocal music.
I teach classical and jazz piano and improvisation. I also have the distinction in being able to teach students with special needs or learning disabilities as I have a mild form of cerebral palsy and understand what students with special needs go through.

About Katie
I have been teaching young students piano for seven years. I have completed my education for a music education degree, and am the former president of the Cal State Piano Society. I have been playing piano for nineteen years and love every aspect of music. My goal is to pass my passion for music onto my students, and allow them to develop a deep appreciation and understanding for all genres.

*** Lesson Details ***
I am a strong believer in making the learning process fun and enjoyable. I want my students to be motivated to learn and practice as much as possible. My teaching style consists of starting with the basics (technique, theory, and reading music) then graduating to style and phrasing. My students will always leave our lessons feeling accomplished and confident. Learning an instrument is hard work, but with enough effort a
nd commitment, anything is possible!

*** How Long of a Lesson? ***
For very young beginners, I recommend 15 minutes. For beginners, I recommend 30 minutes. For intermediate, we can do 30 to 45 to 60 minutes. For advanced, you would benefit from 45 to 60 minutes. If you are beginner and want to have a 45 or 60 minute lesson, each lesson will focus on any of these categories: technique, repertoire, theory, ear training, and listening.

***Cancellation Policy***
Please notify me at least ONE HOUR before the lesson if you need to cancel to avoid charges. I may or may not be able to reschedule, and I will allow up to one month for a makeup lesson.

*** Studio Equipment ***
Baldwin Upright Piano
Various Piano Books
Metronome
Internet access for resources

*** Travel Equipment ***
I expect all music students to provide a piano and the required materials (i.e. metronome and specific music books)

Tutoring: Please provide the class work, assignments, and projects for the subjects that need tutoring (if possible).

*** Specialties ***
I believe that technique is very important when it comes to piano. I start with teaching the basic scales, hand positions, and good posture. Then I begin teaching music theory, in which the student learns how to read notes, rhythms, dynamics, etc. Once the student becomes proficient in reading and technique, I give them more difficult pieces in order to work on style, voicing, and phrasing.

Hola, cómo estás? I am a certified native teacher. I was born in Madrid, Spain (Europe), and I live in California since 2014.
I love teaching, and have all my life.
I have a lot of experience; I know how to teach Spanish in the best way, the mexican style or latin style as well.

With effective lessons, with patience and with speaking slowly and clearly. You will learn grammar, the best proper pronunciation, the differences of our languages, our expressions, slang, etc ... with a profesional tutor who knows exactly what is doing due to his academic preparation and experience.

You will be able to speak with great accent, emphasys, positions of the mouth ... and more options of the language that it is advasible to be taught by natives teachers.

We will learn by enjoying and practicing, through one to one conversation, exerci
ses, repetitions, movies, books, songs ...
By practicing with all these forms, you will feel success in a few classes.

Should be great as well to take lessons with 2 students. Works really good and it´s cheaper. The lessons are more fun because we can interact, so we will learn faster and better.

I look forward to hearing from you and helping you achieve excellence in your studies!

Nos vemos ! :) (See you guys)

Javier

I started to learn the violin since I was 3 years old. My mom chose this beautiful instrument for me, she thought it's convenient to carry. My name is Beverly and I have been speaking Spanish my whole life. I had the opportunity to attend school in Mexico in elementary for a few years. This helped me gain experience in the language that I would later pass down to my students. I was a Sunday School teacher for the bilingual students at Armonia Church for two years. This was a great opportunity to teach the English and Spanish language hand in hand. Today, I travel back to Mexico yearly in order to expand my vocabulary and keep the language alive within me.
