About John

I have an associates degree in music and I have been teaching lessons for 10 years now. I also have experience as a substitute teacher. As a substitute, I have taught all grades, all subjects, and I have helped out many kinds of students each with their own way of learning.

Besides teaching, I love learning too. Anytime I have a question I immediately start seeking out the answer. Learning never stops!

*** Lesson Details ***
Ever wondered how musicians write music? Why do they make the choices they make? Why do those choices work? Why does music work the way that it does? I can answer all these questions and much more.

With me as your guide, I will unlock your musical superpowers and make you capable of things you didn't know were possible. I have many different methods for teaching not only technique, but how to listen, and ho

w to think creatively so that you can unlock your full potential.

*** Travel Equipment ***
I can provide my guitar, picks, and tuner and that's really all you will need as well.

I'll occasionally bring my laptop with me to use some music software to assist in my lessons.

I'll always have pens and paper so I can make notes or diagrams if needed. I highly recommend that my students have a spiral notebook so I can more easily cater to them.

*** Specialties ***
I specialize in many musical genres including rock, ska, punk, progressive, jazz, folk, and more. Music theory is a big part of what I do as it's the universal language of music. If you learn enough theory, you can learn ANY instrument.

John is incredibly smart about theory and understanding the guitar having worked out his own individual way of learning that he is happy to share his trade secrets.

About Dianne

Hello, I am a certified teacher and also an engineer. My main goal as an educator is to help students realize their true potential. Beyond helping my students complete homework or learn a new skill I provide them with tools for success. I teach my students so they can take charge of their learning.

I hold a Masters Degree in Education with an emphasis in Bilingual/Bicultural Education. Prior to earning my masters degree, I was a bilingual educator for six years. In addition, I have conducted research in language acquisition and math and have been trained using research based learning strategies. I also hold a Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering and worked six years in this field.

I work with students all ages. I am available for homework, homeschooling, and enrichment activities. Before meeting with my students, I gather the ne

cessary information in order to create a lesson plan that will meet the student's specific needs. I have extensive experience in curriculum design. My approach to teaching is student-centered. I use a variety of methods to ensure that students are active participants in the learning process and get the most out of instruction.

I have worked with students with special needs including, learning disabled, ADHD and gifted and talented. When planning my lessons, I make sure that the activities included are appropriate for the student and use students feedback in future planning.

Bgcheck Background Checked

About Laila

My name is Laila. I am a mother of four children ages 22,20,18&13. I have BS in Computer Science and MA in Accounting. In addition, I am a reading therapist . I run an online reading clinic for dyslexic students to help them with their literacy struggles.

I'm bilingual English/Arabic, and while I was raising up my children, I gave them Arabic private lessons for many years. They never liked the traditional methods their tutors used. Because of my experience with teaching children and my fluency in both languages, I came up with an interesting way of teaching children the language through fun activities, conversations, books, apps and many more. Learning Arabic will not be boring, but rather fun and easy.

Jane ..
She was a really good teacher. However, she always late to show up (about 10 mins late). Then, she stopped showing up for classes. My daughter was waiting for about 15 mins each time because she is usually late so we don't know if she would show up or not but it turned out that she would just quit without telling us and without responding to the emails or phone calls. The classes were already paid in advance and we are trying to get a refund for many classes that she did not show up.

About Stephen

Hello! =P I'm Stephen from the United States and I currently live in Lisbon, Portugal. I started teaching English 3 years ago and have taught over 2000 lessons! I have met so many wonderful people and made many friends from all over the world. Learning English with me feels like learning English with a friend, except I will correct your mistakes. :D I have become fluent in Spanish, and am currently learning Portuguese and Russian, so I know how satisfying it is to learn another language, but also how difficult it can be. Even native speakers make mistakes! The secret is to not worry about speaking perfectly and just have fun! I truly enjoy teaching and look forward to getting to know you and to helping you improve your English! xD

"After searching in vain for a latin tutor for our son in our neighborhood, we reluctantly turned our search to the internet. We're so glad we did. Jonatha
n is an excellent latin teacher! He evaluated our son's current ability level in latin and has guided him in lessons designed to address his weak areas. Our son is a good student and will work hard when challenged, but he also needs structure and guidance from his teacher. Jonathan provided both and has inspired him to pursue latin with enthusiasm. We are very grateful to have found such a wonderful tutor, and we would highly recommend Jonathan Hills to any student serious about improving his/her latin skills."
