I will listen to you as carefully as possible to make the lesson meaningful. What are you interested in about Japan? History, travel, movie, music, anime, traditional entertainment, food or else? Think of learning not Japanese, but what you love through Japanese because what you love motivates you for learning the most.
One of my typical lesson styles is a situational dialogue. Let's have fun.
I teach at my place or a coffee shop if you would like to, or online.

Hi, I first taught Japanese to my friends at college in 2002 and I’ve always enjoyed teaching and interacting with students even though I didn’t expect it to become my career then. I have taught adults including senior citizens, college, high school and middle school students, and young children. Teaching Japanese to American military personnel and spouses who were stationed in Japan was the most rewarding experiences I’ve had. They truly needed the language skills to live in Japan, and they really appreciated that they were able to learn survival Japanese that’s instantly useful out in town.
I grew up in Japan and came to US to go to college. When I was a college student, I taught Japanese and English to middle and high school students during summer back in Japan. I have a Master of Education in TESL. I teach all levels including those who are starting out and also want to improve their fluency and understand the culture and history too!
I’m looking forward to working with ...

Ever since I discovered Dragon Ball Z on Toonami back in the early 2000's, I have come to develop a love of all things Japan, specifically anime and J-pop. My experience with learning Japanese started back when I started studying at home with my older brother back in 1999 or so, and then started studying Japanese at college, which culminated in the completion of a minor in Japanese as part of my BA. I have also visited Japan one time to visit my older brother who was teaching English over there at the time. I love Dragon Ball (among many, many other anime) and T.M. Revolution.

Karaoke is a fun activity in any language, but believe it or not, singing karaoke is also a great way to improve your Japanese-language skills. Karaoke, as we know it, actually started in Kobe City, Japan. The word 'karaoke' is a combination of the words kara (from karappo, which means 'empty') and oke (from okesutura, which means 'orchestra'). You may not have realized that you can learn Japanese through music, but karaoke is one of the best ways to practice vocabulary and …
