German is a spoken language, so being able to speak it well is important. I work on building vocabulary, grammar, reading and writing. For students who are planning to travel in German-speaking countries (Germany, Austria & Switzerland) we can also work on survival: basic words & phrases for travelers, and listening/understanding when spoken to.

Mrs. B is a wonderful and dedicated teacher who focuses diligently during class sessions. She thoroughly explains terms and technique and is friendly and sociable. Her extensive knowledge of languages comes extremely useful in Italian arias and other folk songs as to explain the meanings of words and to convey motion. Her classes are enjoyable and fun, while still being comprehensively academic.

I am an experienced native speaking German tutor who has been teaching students of all ages and levels. I am a certified Montessori Teacher. I believe in gently guiding, supporting, encouraging but also challenging my students. I love to share many fun facts , i.e. hilarious literal translations, as well as cultural and historical background of Germany. This will give my student a well balanced foundation, he /she will really experience the language, get a “real feel” for it! I customize my curriculum to my students needs, wishes and goals. After a few lessons my students can speak easy sentences and phrases in German already, they will understand even more and will use their newly acquired skills continuously. I strongly stress speaking in my native language to my students from an early point on. It is very important to me to make the language learning a pleasant and enjoyable experience! There shall be lots of laughter! However diligent work and great effort is necessary

"Very pleased with the course and the instructor. Even though it was a miscommunication at the beginning, we were able to connect with the instructor's information. (Takelessons sends one meeting code, and instructor send another one????). Class was good, instructor very nice, organized and patient (2 hrs time zone difference). Will continue class in the future. I highly recommend Erol."

"I enjoyed my first lesson very much! Tatiana made a big effort to figure out my German level and led the conversation in such a way that I could learn as we talked. She was very complimentary, offered to help above the call of duty, and feels like she already is a friend! It will be fun and a great help to me to continue with the lessons!"

"I had a college language placement exam looming, so I signed up for 10 lessons with Susan to help me review and prep for the exam. I ended up testing out of two semesters of college-level German, which was even better than I had hoped for! I couldn't have done it without Susan. She was fantastic at explaining the tricky subjects, like accusative vs. dative cases, and helped me rigorously review all of the material. Plus, learning with her was fun, and I looked forward to the lesson every week."

"We have been working with Wolfgang for about five weeks now. He is always very well-prepared for each lesson, with a clear goal in mind. He does a great job of adding humor to keep my nine year old son engaged in this new and not always easy language! I chose Wolfgang because German is his mother-tongue and he has extensive teaching experience with a range of ages. I have not been disappointed- he pays careful attention to cultivating accent, which is important and the best part of having a native speaker for a teacher."

"Most highly recommended! I found Wolfgang to be an excellent German instructor for me. As a mature (50+) professional I was looking for a native German with perfect mastery of English and impeccable teaching credentials. Wolfgang fit that description perfectly. He tailored the lessons to my needs and made them fun. Along with the excellent language lessons, I really enjoyed his stories about life in Germany, and especially his hometown of Berlin. Thanks to Wolfgang I am much farther along my journey of learning to speak German."

How to NOT Look and Act Like an American Tourist in Germany

Are you planning a trip to Germany? One of the keys to staying safe and not getting sucked into tourist traps is to blend in with the culture. In other words, when in Germany, do as the Germans do.
