Japanese Lessons in North Java. Amazing Teachers.

Hi, I’ve taught Japanese since 2002 and I’ve always enjoyed teaching and interacting with students. I have taught American adults and college students for over 5 years now. Teaching Japanese to American military personnel and spouses who were stationed in Japan was the most rewarding experiences I’ve had. They truly needed the language skills to live in Japan, and they really appreciated that they were able to learn survival Japanese that’s instantly useful out in town.

I grew up in Japan and came to US to go to college. Since I was a college student, I taught Japanese to middle and high school students during summer in Japan. I have a Master of Education in TESL. Yes, I used to teach English more vigorously, but I found teaching Japanese more rewarding. I teach all levels including those who are starting out and also want to improve their fluency and understand the culture and history!

Hi My name is Seiko. I am an experienced Japanese tutor teaching locally in Silicon vally/Bay area, CA. My sessions would be individually tailored based on your interests, necessary improvements and goals. You would most likely use textbooks during sessions. For business needs, my work experience would help you not only learning the language but also strengthening your communication skills in understanding of its cultural aspects and nuance. For job seekers and Japanese college applications, I have experience of reviewing and proofreading resume and essays as well as AP/JLPT test preparations.

My Japanese lessons are unique in that I can adapt to multiple learning styles. I can empathize with English learners that have been struggling with Japanese grammar and sentence-forming issues that plague so many by explaining it in innovative ways. I am also very up to date with Japanese pop culture, history, and other fun aspects, such as travel, food, and music, so I often enjoy incorporating those fun topics into my lessons wherever possible!

As a native Japanese speaker, who has spent the last 30 years in the United States, I understand the structural and grammatical differences in the two languages. This gives me both the teacher’s and the student’s perspectives, which I find valuable as a language instructor.

I have taught Japanese to college students and adults, using beginning Japanese textbooks, and I am most comfortable teaching high school/college students and adults.
I can also teach conversational Japanese and/or customize the lesson to meet each student’s particular goals and needs.
