My Japanese lessons are unique in that I can adapt to multiple learning styles. I can empathize with English learners that have been struggling with Japanese grammar and sentence-forming issues that plague so many by explaining it in innovative ways. I am also very up to date with Japanese pop culture, history, and other fun aspects, such as travel, food, and music, so I often enjoy incorporating those fun topics into my lessons wherever possible!

During my undergraduate studies, I worked as a president of SUNY Albany Japanese Student Association and also worked as a TA for Japanese 101 classes, and I absolutely love to teach languages! I understand it is often very hard to find a language tutor outside of the spoken community, and I hope to provide you with the opportunity to be exposed to authentic media sources to acquire natural fluency. Hope to hear from you soon!

"It's hard to believe Masaki could become so fluent at a second language when he only started learning at the age of 18. It makes him a great teacher for adults because he himself started a second language as an adult.

His teaching style is so fun and so tailored to each student I highly recommend him as a language teacher, both in Japanese and English!"

"Sensei seems to really enjoy teaching. As both a native speaker and a longtime resident of the US, she is able to bridge the cultures in a way that many instructors would not be able to. I have been studying with her for over six months - both in a private and college setting - and I feel that I would be hard pressed to find a better teacher. In a college setting, she is very strict and covers a lot of material in a short period of time, and those who take her courses must be prepared to expend significant time and energy for success, but those who can keep up are well equipped to continue their studies with pretty much any other teacher or course."

"I studied Japanese with Kana for almost a year and a half. In that time, she took me from knowing absolutely nothing to being a proficient beginner level speaker. I can now read Hiragana/Katakana every day, have a solid grasp of the different counters and number system, as well as conjugation of u/ru verbs and adjectives and various sentence forms.

Kana was always very patient and never made me feel awkward or uncomfortable. She was willing to go as fast or as slow as I liked and always had the answers to my questions. She was always fun to work with and has become like a friend to me over the time I've studied with her. Highly recommend!"
