I am a graduate of Brown University with honors in Italian Studies and Performance Studies. I am a fluent speaker, having lived in Florence, Rome, and Sicily. I work with students to improve their understanding of grammar, their pronunciation, reading comprehension, vocabulary, conversation skills, and writing. I also have an extensive knowledge of Italian culture, history, and literature from my studies and research and am happy to share this with interested students. At Brown, I tutored students in the Italian Department through the dean of the college's tutoring center, and I have worked as a tutor with students of all levels in Providence and New York.

About Arianna
Hello! I'm a recent graduate of Brown University with honors in Italian Studies and Performance Studies. Having dedicated the last four years to studying Italian language, literature, history, and culture, I decided to share my knowledge with other Italian enthusiasts out there. I tutor Italian students of all levels and am happy to teach grammar, work on reading comprehension and writing, give conversation practice, and share knowledge of the culture and its rich literary and artistic traditions! During college, I had opportunities to live in Florence, Rome, and Sicily, and in my senior year I became a tutor of Italian for the dean of the college.

I have been a teacher for more than 20 years, teaching various subjects to students of all ages. I studied Italian first in high school; then throughout my college years. I've become proficient in it and I now tutor students in NYC public schools (primarily high school) that struggle with the language. I am patient, thorough and I try to make it fun and interesting for the students who often come to me quite frustrated initially.

About Anne-Marie
Hi, I'm Anne-Marie and I love to teach! I have been teaching for over 25 years and whether the subject is English, Music, College Prep or Italian, I love helping students reach their goals. I work hard to leave my students enlightened, encouraged and empowered. I have high standards and I really like to challenge students to achieve their full potential, but I also try to make the process interesting, engaging and fun. I'm patient, easygoing and I enjoy working with students of all ages and backgrounds. I always strive to get to know my students (and their needs) very well. Then I customize lessons according to need, aptitude and goals. One of the best parts of teaching for me is meeting and connecting with new people, and making a difference in their lives, so I really look forward to meeting and working with you!

I have a conversation-based curriculum I designed based on my 5 years of teaching introductory Italian. My lessons are fun and get you communicating in the language as quickly as possible. The book I send you will outline the basics of Italian grammar, and we fill in with additional vocabulary according to student interest.

About Peter
I love sharing knowledge! Math has always been a passion for me, and I competed in several math competitions even in elementary school. Since then I have tutored many students in math from a fourth grade level to college math. I scored a 34 on the ACT and I enjoy helping others achieve their dreams by getting college scholarships. I lived in Italy for more than 2 years and have worked as an Italian teacher and tutor for 5 years. I have been playing guitar and making music for 19 years. You can check out my CD, "Songs from Pablo's Attic," on Spotify and iTunes. I am currently attending graduate school at the University of Utah and our tutoring endeavors help us work through school in a meaningful way.

Being a native Italian and having lived in Rome for over 30 years gives me the necessary knowledge to know what is needed in order to learn the Italian language and get deeper into the Italian culture. Also having over 20 years of teaching experience allows me to tailor my knowledge to the need of every particular student. I really enjoy to transfer my knowledge and solve the unique problems that every student encounter during their path.

About Andrea
Bassist and composer Andrea performs extensively within the improvised music scene, across a broad spectrum of genres. His instrumental tone, sensitivity and imagination, and melodic approach to a supposedly clumsy instrument brought him to perform and record with many established musicians. Based in New York City, his work as an instrumentalist and composer can be regularly heard at the top jazz clubs in the city and around the globe.

As a current faculty member of the New York Jazz Workshop, Andrea is a dedicated educator. He has taught master classes at the National Institute of Music and the National University of Costa Rica, at the Boğaziçi University in Istanbul, Turkey and at the Olav Duun Videregående Skole in Namsos, Norway. He also served as an adjunct professor at New York University, where he graduated in 2011 with a Master
of Music Degree in Performance with a Concentration in Jazz as a Fulbright scholarship recipient.

Silvana is a fantastic teacher! She has a very structured/objective based, yet highly adaptable approach to teaching, which has been extremely effective. She is super patient and has manner of delivery which I have found to be very re-assuring but also challenging when required. I have to admit that I am not the most confident language learner, she takes this into account and pushes just enough without being overbearing. I'd say she is capable of teaching Italian to any level/objective. Whether your aim is basic travel communication or fluency. Highly recommended!

Fulvia has been our teacher now for 3 years. We wanted to learn Italian because we travel to Italy often.
Each lesson is well prepared and thought through by the teacher. Fulvia uses many different ways to make lessons fun and the language more approachable.
They include books, videos and interactive games etc. There is always a bit of homework to do to help follow up with the weekly lesson. She always finds ways to help us understand subjects that are challenging.
That Fulvia is a native speaker of the Italian language is a big bonus.
Fulvia is a great teacher and we highly recommend her.

I feel that learning in general and learning a foreign language in particular is about repetition and I ask my students to repeat everything I teach over and over again until they know it by heart. I keep my lessons simple to avoid overwhelming the students and to allow time for them to repeat what they learned earlier. I teach the words that form part of the so called core vocabulary; words that are chosen according to frequency and range (in the sense that they “occur across a wide variety of texts”) It is often said that the first 2000 most frequent words cover approximately 90% of the vocabulary used by native-speakers in daily conversations. This means that for a student they represent the basic resource to be able to communicate.

About Stefania
I am Italian. I moved to Canada first and the US next in my thirties. I love teaching. I own a retail training and consulting company. I have taught Italian on and off over the years and have always loved doing it. I am very passionate about the topics I teach and have a clear understanding of the complexities of learning and most importantly remembering things that are new to us. Hence, my obsession with repetition and never move to the next lesson until prior ones are fully mastered. I use multiple tricks to make a lesson engaging, different and fun to attend.

I am passionate about helping people communicate and understand each other in other languages.

I was born and raised in Rome, Italy and lived around the world for the past 10 years. I have a Master in Global Management and work in the Translation industry.

Are you preparing the speech at your wedding with an Italian partner? Are you planning a trip to Italy? Do you want your kids to grow bi-lingual? I am here to engage you and make this a fun learning journey.

I think one of best ways to learn a language is through music. Let's pick a song and figure out the rest! I also love to travel and will be happy to prepare you for your next trip ( tips, restaurants, local sayings, etc).
I am looking forward to meeting you!

About Sara
I help people communicate in different languages everyday, my biggest passions are to help people learn Italian and to help students in succeeding no matter if it is for a test, exam or college/ school application.

Born and raised in Rome, Italy I graduated from John Cabot University in Business Administration and Marketing and I earned a Master Degree in Global Management from Fordham University in NY.

I am a native Italian speaker and speak English and Spanish. One of my favorite ways to learn a language is through songs. We can pick a song you like and take it from there. My approach is to find something that you are interested in and build a program around it: travel, workout, fashion, food, business etc.

I have tutored children and adults at different age levels for the past 10 years in English, Test Prep, College Applications, S
cholarship Applications, Business, Marketing and Math. I have guided students and helped to get through exams, admission papers, applications, resume building and worked with students ( including myself) to win thousands of dollars in scholarships.

I can tailor the classes according to your needs:

Italian: general knowledge, trip preparation, wedding speeches, business language.

Admission/ College and Test Prep: we will put together a plan that takes into account where you stand now, deadlines, grade or goal, your availability and I will make sure to push you to get where you want to be.

Lessons shouldn't be boring or stressful.

With this belief in mind, I will teach you or help you perfect Italian by building our lesson around conversations and real-life situations you would likely find yourself in if you were in Italy!
And, when needed, we'll integrate the grammar while we progress through the lesson.

I guarantee you this: solo 100% vero italiano.

About Stephen G.
Ciao,

I was born, completed my studies and have lived in Milan, Italy, my whole life.
While completing my graduate degree in business, among other things, I tutored a variety of subjects to students of all different ages (from elementary school up to adults).

I strongly believe the most effective way of learning a new language, once you got the grammar basics, is through conversation. Consistent, gradual conversations, simulating real-life situations, will make anyone learn a new language in a fun way, and will also help break the shyness of speaking a foreign language right from the start. I believe the same applies for those interested in perfecting any language they've learned in the past.

My lessons will therefore mainly focus on conversations (obviously based on your starting level), on teaching you true Italian expressions, and w
hen to apply them, and on making the grammar-learning process much less tedious!

I look forward to meeting you and helping you become an Italian pro!

Ciao,

Steph
