I was born and raised in Italy by an Italian mother and American father, who has been speaking to me in English since I was a little child! I had the good fortune of growing up in a bilingual family, submerged in a multicultural environment.
Along with grammar, vocabulary and conversation, I really enjoy making the beautiful Italian culture a part of the lesson.

About Alessia

I have been taking Italian lessons with Alessia for the past 5 months. Each week, I look forward to meeting her with excitement. Alessia keeps the lessons light and fun and goes at a pace that is comfortable for the learner. She is very accommodating both in desired lesson plans and availability. In addition, she provides cultural insight and praise and possesses a great deal of patience and positivity. I highly recommend her.
Lauren
I came to Alessia's lessons with little experience using proper vocal technique and admittedly as a voice student well outside the usual age range - which meant that we had to work on unlearning some long standing bad habits. Alessia has been extremely patient in reinforcing the elements of good vocal technique. At the same time, she is great at communicating what she wants to see me work on and how well I'm succeeding in those areas. And most importantly, I can hear the improvement in my singing! Highly recommend, especially for those interested in singing musical theater or classical pieces.

Ciao/ Hello! My name is Francesca. I was born and raised in Italy. I have been teaching Italian since 2008 at levels ranging from beginner to advanced and to all ages. My lessons are fun, dynamic, and flexible. They intended to develop speaking, listening, writing and reading skills and offer fun conversation on a variety of topics. Students learn the language through practical examples of daily life situations. Each lesson can be tailored to the students’ needs. I have also tailored my lessons for students that want to learn the Italian language for traveling purposes. Learning a language goes hand in hand with understanding the culture. My lessons are focused on using the Italian culture to provide the setting that helps the students learn the language and feel comfortable and confident when speaking to native Italian speaking persons.

About Francesca

Ciao/ Hello! I am a native speaking Italian from the Northern region of Italy. I have been teaching Italian since 2008 at levels ranging from beginner to advanced and to all ages. Amazing teacher and love the class (and classmates)! Taking her classes for a few years now. Mix of daily conversations, grammar, and common Italian expressions...that we can actually use!

I would highly recommend Francesca Bruni as an Italian teacher! She has been my Italian teacher for a number of years! Her ability to instruct vocabulary, grammar and comprehension all woven together with themes of Italian culture has provided me with a rapid acquisition of essential and enjoyable conversation skills. Not only are Francesca’s instructional materials relevant and engaging, but whether presented in an in-person manner or online virtual setting, allow for a highly successful experience. You will be amazed at how quickly you will become a fluent Italian speaker, reader, and writer!
Diane
Francesca is a fabulous teacher. We are an adult upper intermediate level class who have been with Francesca for several years. Her classes are small and we are all totally engaged. She takes a keen interest in each of us and our individual
needs. In addition to grammar, dictation, homework, Francesca focuses on advanced readings from Italian stories to newspaper articles, and on only speaking Italian. To improve our speaking we start with students telling about their week and/or making oral presentations to the class based on an Italian news article a student has found of interest. These presentations provide an opening for more conversation and for identification of lots of new vocabulary. Francesca is patient and makes sure we each participate. The environment she creates is one where it's OK to make mistakes and where we can have fun learning and laugh with each other. Francesca's sense of humor makes our classes even more fun.

Sabrina gave me confidence to engage in conversation in Italy on my early trips and then helped me prepare for a 2-week course at a language school in Italy. Italian Language Classes in San Francisco

Interested in learning Italian? 63 million people across the globe speak this beautiful language. It’s no wonder that many of the best writing and art forms have come from Italy, and that both Dante and Michelangelo are still household names after centuries.

If you learn Italian in San Francisco, you'll develop a better understanding of the origins of civilization and gain a love for the romantic language. You'll also have better travel experiences and a richer appreciation for the Italian culture.

Why Italian Language Classes in San Francisco Make the Perfect Setting

With over 800,000 people, San Francisco is the fourth-most populated city in the Golden State of California. Its hilly scenery overlooking the San Francisco Bay and Golden Gate Bridge are truly stu

nning. This gorgeous setting provides a fitting place to study a language also known for its beauty.

Because of the diversity in San Francisco, you'll find plenty of native Italian speakers right where you live. You'll also be able to build friendships with Italian Americans, learning more about their language and culture. But conversing with local Italian speakers is only part of the equation. Italian language tutors in San Francisco, CA are a vital part of learning the language too.

Finding an Italian Tutor in San Francisco

If you want to learn Italian in San Francisco, you'll need a great tutor. Finding a teacher to meet with in-person is key because one-on-one guidance will help you learn the language quickly, and motivate you to keep going.

One local teacher, Eva R., has quite the cultural background to offer. She's currently an art professor and fashion designer but hails from Florence, Italy. Eva R. uses a combination of conversation and grammar lessons to help students start speaking right away. She'll also introduce you to the world-famous Italian culture.

Our directory currently includes more than 50 Italian instructors like Eva, and that number continues to grow daily. While some teachers may not live close enough to meet in-person, you can always take online lessons with your preferred tutor.

When and Where to Take Italian Classes in San Francisco

Once you've decided on a teacher, you'll need to figure out the logistics of your Italian classes in San Francisco. You'll want to look at your schedule and decide on a good lesson time. Our instructors are very flexible. If you end up needing a class time at "odd hours" because of your work schedule, an online instructor might be the perfect solution.

When deciding where to take lessons, you have a few options. You can take classes at your instructor's studio, at your home, or at a public location. You may want to consider meeting at a local park like Crissy Field, if the weather is nice. Another great option is a nearby cafe such as Cafe Francisco on Powell Street.

You can go underground on the Muni Metro to arrive at your Italian classes in SF. Or, if you want to take in the sights (such as Chinatown and AT&T Park) you can take a Muni Bus. Of course, if you decide to go the online route,  you can take Italian classes in the comfort of your home without ever having to step outside!

Making the Most Of Italian Lessons in San Francisco, CA

Although a tutor is essential, there are some additional steps you can take to ensure studying the Italian language in San Francisco is a success. Discovering the local Italian culture and immersing yourself is key.

This could be as easy as locating an authentic Italian restaurant, such as Ristorante Franchino where the owners are native speakers. You can also become a part of the San Francisco Italian Language Meetup Group, which currently has over 2,000 members. There, you'll find other Italian language enthusiasts at every skill level. They'll be excited to learn with you and help you on your journey.

Another key to supplementing Italian lessons in San Francisco is to visit your local library and bookstores. Try the Park Branch Library or another one close by for dictionaries and other resources. When purchasing new and used materials, consider Dog Eared Books or try the Alexander Book Company on 2nd Street.

As you begin your lessons, it's important to have all of your supplies stocked up. Some of those items could be flashcards, notebooks, pens and pencils. Gables Office Supplies and Stationery or a similar store should have all you need for your Italian classes in SF.

Also, be sure to check out the city's cultural events. San Francisco's annual Italian Heritage Parade is the city's oldest civic event at 150 years and counting. Another must-visit event is the annual Festa Coloniale Italiana "Italian Festival". There, you'll find live music, dancing, authentic Italian cuisine, wine tasting and much more. As you can see, taking Italian lessons in San Francisco, CA is a fun, exciting and worthwhile venture!
