What a beautiful language German is! No wonder there's so many famous German poets, playwrites and composers! And actually German is also very much used in todays international business world! Whether you want to get better grades in school or you just want to be able to have a simple conversation on vacation or apply with a German company, as a native speaker I can help you reach your goals!

About Chrissy
Originally born in Germany, Chrissy developed a passion for music, language and teaching early on. Right out of High School she helped her mother, who was an educator at that time, write and stage-manage a children's Musical which found great response from the audience. During her Music studies in the Netherlands she was offered an internship at the local Music School which she gratefully accepted and where she enjoyed her first voice coaching experience. There she was also nominated as one of the most promising young singer/songwriters at the LUX Festival in Nijmegen. Over the years she was blessed with more and more private students in voice as well as piano. During her stay in New York she received the opportunity to work with a Broadway show ensemble ("Dreamgirls") as a Music Director on their different harmonic parts. She's proudly b
een a member of the Music of Oz Studio staff in Crown Point, Indiana since Jan. 2011 and is looking forward to teaching out of her home now as well. Chrissy is crazy about all her students and wants them to succeed! She's very much looking forward to working with you and having buckets of fun! :-)

I am a native German and able to teach in every level and in dialects and accents as well.

Teaching is more a hobby and pleasure for me than a side job. My students mostly have to remind me that the time is over and I have to let them go. ;)

About Marcel
I work as a tutor and mentor in many of those fields for years. It was and is a side business, but I always enjoyed teaching.
I am looking forward to move on with you and / or your kids.
Have a great day,
Marcel

Update 02/10/15: Takelessons is a great way to teach and a fantastic and easy way to learn for students. I currently have 3 students per week, with several hours. I really enjoy it, either online via Skype or Facetime or Live at the students place. Hit me up and let's move something together.

I did not actually take any lessons with him, but his schedule did not reflect what showed as available in Takelessons. He had a very bad attitude and would not actually schedule the lesson after several exchanges.

I need to improve my spoken German for business and Marcel has been invaluable in helping me improve at a good pace while being incredibly flexible on lesson planning.

I've been working with him for about a month now and I've grown to feel more comfortable speaking with my colleagues who are native German speakers.

If you want a native, professional teacher who can be fun...Marcel is your guy.

I began learning German my freshman year of high school. The language came very easily to me, partly due to my very strong interest in German language and culture. I continued taking German all through High School through the AP test which I passed with a 4. After Graduation I moved to Sonoma State University where I studied briefly but made an array of German friends with whom I still speak occasionally. Having German friends allowed my proficiency and fluency to grow exponentially and through this experience I learned the importance of a one on one setting for language acquisition. I believe students of any language benefit greatly from time spent in informal discussions about everyday life, this builds the confidence that leads to fluency.

About Alexander
I've been a personal academic tutor since August of 2013 specializing in basic math, pre-algebra, algebra, and algebra 2 as well as English and German. I also love teaching music. I specialize in ukulele and guitar and have been playing guitar since I was 15 and picked up the ukulele at 18. I have experience teaching people of from 8 - 70 years old and with a wide range of backgrounds, needs, and goals.

A little about myself. I was born and raised in the Sacramento area. I have 3 younger siblings ranging from 10 to 12 years younger than me, so I have experience teaching younger children as well. One of my sisters is special needs with autism and mild CP. I understand the difficulties children with special needs can face in school especially in math and language arts. I am currently studying at Sierra college with a major in computer
science. I love teaching and learning and helping people succeed. There is no greater accomplishment than helping someone go from staring blankly at the task in front of them, to them suddenly grasping it, sharing in their success and sense of accomplishment is magical.

While I may be a grammar guru, I try to focus on the practical points of German as well. You may be learning hochdeutsch, or proper, German on paper, but I also want my students to be able to be able to speak the language and understand some German slang or culturally different words and phrases. Therefore I like to include lessons about the different dialects, cultures, and mindsets of the German people in addition to the actual grammatical makeup of the language itself. I also believe that the best way to learn about your own language is to learn another, so employ a technique, which involves teaching some English in order to better improve your understanding of German. I love the German language, and hope I can pass on the enthusiasm I have for the language to you as well - happy learning!

About Kathleen
Hello!

Whether you are looking for practical German or a more academic learning experience I am here to help! My love for German, Germany, and other German-speaking cultures goes back to 7th grade when I decided I would take a German class my 8th grade year. Since then I have been to Germany several times, lived with a host family, continue to talk to several of my German speaking friends, and have even read several of the Harry Potter books in German - making this language a big part of my life! I enjoy teaching and am considering becoming a German professor as a full-time career choice, but am starting out on a smaller scale. I have informally worked with several students, at different levels, tutoring German, and have learned so much about second language acquisition as well as how each person processes the German language. I wholehe
artedly believe in a well-rounded learning process that utilizes listening, reading, writing, and cultural exercises. I look forward to developing a personalized learning plan to help you achieve your language goals, no matter your experience.

I am an experienced native speaing German tutor who has been teaching students of all ages and levels. I am a certified Montessori Teacher. I believe in gently guiding, supporting, encouraging but also challenging my students. I love to share many fun facts , i.e. hilarious literal translations, as well as cultural and historical background of Germany. This will give my student a well balanced foundation, he /she will really experience the language, get a “real feel” for it! I customize my curriculum to my students needs, wishes and goals. After a few lessons my students can speak easy sentences and phrases in German already, they will understand even more and will use their newly acquired skills continuesly. I strongly stress speaking in my native language to my students from an early point on. It is very important to me to make the language learning a pleasant and enjoyable experience! There shall be lots of laughter! However diligent work and great effort is necessary ...

About Susanna
Guten Tag!

I was born and raised in Munich, Germany. I am fluent in German and English. I moved to the United States over 30 years ago with my family. I worked as a chief flight attendant for Lufthansa Airlines for many years. When I became a mother I earned my certification as a Montessori teacher in 2006 and have been teaching my students at a local Montessori school the German language with fun songs (I play the piano) and simple games and interesting books. It is important to me to make the whole learning process a positive and fun experience for my students. I worked with pre-schoolers as well as elementary students. I also tutor high school/college students and adults of any age in German. One of my hobbies and passions is acting on stage, mainly in comedies at local community theaters.
Whatever your needs may be in r
egard to the German language, (writing, reading, spelling, correct pronunciation, etc. school, work or travel) I would love to be of assistance and make the learning an enjoyable adventure and great success! Living in the United States for so many years and also traveling to Germany every year has made me acutely aware of the cultural differences and I enjoy sharing these interesting findings with my students, it helps immensely to embrace, immerse and "feel" a foreign language.
I can meet my students in person or if more convenient be available for online lessons.

Let's start with this exciting and fun adventure to dive into another culture, another world and language!
