About Anna
Do you need the magic pill that will help you speak the language? The recipe is here. If you do the assignments I give you (no need to search for any extra materials), I can assure you that soon you will be able to speak and understand.

I am a highly qualified NYC-based Russian and English language teacher with a degree in linguistics/teaching and more than five years of experience. During the years of my teaching practice, I have developed several teaching methods, which I use in my classes. Together we will establish clear objectives for our lessons and will work on your grammar proficiency, listening and speaking skills, and accent neutrality.

I am a strict teacher :) Seriously. You have a goal and I am here to help you get there, whether it is to be able to negotiate with your business partners, speak to your family members or
read "War and Peace" in original. I will work hard to help you reach it, but I expect you to fulfill your part of a deal.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them here using the "Ask a question" button. If you have already decided that you need to speak Russian or English, do not postpone it for another day, month or year. Click the green button and let's do it.
I am looking forward to starting our language journey!

*****
Some technical aspects:

- All materials are provided and included into the price of a lesson

- Recommended frequency of lessons: minimum of 2 times per week (duration of each lesson – 1-1.5h). Learning a language is like going to the gym: to get the muscles, you have to practice regularly.

- If you would like to have a class at a specific time and it is not available in my calendar, please send me a message. I may be able to change some things around and accommodate your request.

- I try to be flexible and modify my schedule based on your needs. But please be considerate and let me know 24 hours in advance if you need to reschedule or cancel a class.

Thank you!

I have been taking private lessons with Anna weekly for one year. She has taught me Russian from a complete beginner level. I've taken a number of language classes in the past (for other languages) and it's clear that Anna is an outstanding teacher. She is clear and gives excellent explanations, and is well-prepared for each class. She's also able to give requested ad-hoc lessons whenever I have specific questions, even without preparation. I would highly recommend Anna as a Russian teacher, whether you're in-person or online. I do both types of lessons with her and she is highly effective through both mediums. Last but not least, she's a great pleasure to be around, as a person!

I am a native Russian speaker and I have studied Russian since elementary school. I graduated from Chishinau university, where 40% of the courses are taught in Russian including Russian grammar and literature. I have taught private courses as a German teacher, to Russian speakers, and therefore I have experience explaining Russian grammar and conversation. I have a deep appreciation for Russia’s literary heritage and am constantly reading classic Russian texts.

I have experience teaching online Russian language to English students. My materials are adapted to English speakers and my beginner students are excited and able to engage in Russian small talk within 6-8 lessons. My lessons are efficient, well planned and productive.

I’ll teach you spelling and grammar rules, I’ll extend you vocabulary and we will always be practicing and reviewing previously learned material. I help encourage my students to study Russian. With me you will smoothly move from a beginner to more advanced.

About Valentina
• Russian native speaker
• Professional proficiency in English and German
• Familiar with Romanian and Turkish language
• Experienced instructor
• Able to plan and organize a classroom curriculum
• Able to communicate and coordinate with a wide range of individuals

Hello, my name is Valentina. I'm a Russian and German teacher.

German

I specialize in teaching German at the High School level. I earned a Bachelor’s degree in German and spent a year working and studying in Munich, Germany. I then found work in a private school and instructed over one hundred students. I have since continued tutoring individually specializing with online lessons.

My goal is to improve my students’ language skill through conversation and I push my students to speak German from the first lesson. I believe this helps students gain fluency an
d lose their fear of making mistakes while speaking. No one can be perfect in a month but the student needs to be comfortable enough with grammar, vocabulary, and pronunciation so that they can communicate in German and improve through conversation and dialog.

My youngest students were 6 years old and I have also taught older students. I enjoy working with children and am fascinated by how quickly young students can learn and grasp languages. Especially when learning is incorporated in a game where a student can passively learn to use new vocabulary as a tool to win a game among others. I am very grateful for all my students and the wide variety of experiences that I have had interacting with them.

Russian

I am an experienced language teacher. My experience is teaching German as a second or third language to Russian and Romanian speakers, but since I am a native Russian speaker I can use what I have learned teaching German to teach Russian.

My teaching philosophy is to learn through practice. Everyone makes mistakes and part of learning a new language is overcoming the fear of making mistakes and being willing to work through errors to convey an idea or thought. People learn a language best when they use it as a tool to achieve a goal.

About Alisa
Hello! My name is Alisa. I am an experienced Russian language tutor, native Russian.
I have been tutoring my English-speaking students for over 10 years, in private settings (NJ and FL), and over the internet. I have Master's degree in Russian Linguistic.
Many of my students have Russian family members, or they travel to Russian speaking countries, and it is very important to them to have a comfortable and clear communication. I am happy I was able to help bring those people together and make their life easier, and their communication enjoyable.
What I realized during past 10 years of teaching, that learning Russian is a challenging task, especially for English speakers. So, to ease that task, I always create an individual plan for every of my student, depends on his/her goal. Some students take only 15-20 lessons to learn just c
ommon phrases and pronunciation. Others stay with me for over 2 years because they want to achieve the advance level of knowledge. It all depends on your ultimate goal.
For my tutoring I use various textbooks, and also my own materials. I provide all those materials, so students don't have to buy anything. All they need to have is a computer, internet, and a printer.
I am pretty flexible, so we can set up lessons at a time convenient for you.
There is nothing to hold you back from trying my lessons and reach your goal.
So go ahead and click the green button to set up your first lesson.
Hope to meet you soon.
Sincerely,
Alisa.

I was very fortunate I found this teacher. I was preparing for a trip overseas and needed to take Russian lessons. During 4 months studying with Alisa I learned and understood more, than during a year of learning the language with Rosetta stone software. Alisa was very patient with me, and now I can speak a little Russian, and more importantly I understand a lot when listening to Russians. Thank you, Alisa.

I've been teaching Russian for 5 years. Within the first lessons, you'll know alphabet and how to greet people in Russian.
From lesson to lesson you'll increase vocabulary and after a few lessons your knowledge will be enough to read short stories. I use online workbooks, textbooks. I have a list of websites. They let students learn grammar, listen to dialogues, watch movies. I love working with students and can't wait to start this journey through Russian grammar and literature with you.

Fluent in Russian (Native speaker), excellent writing skills, creative writing

About Katia
My background and experiences are an eclectic combination of music, audio engineering, and television production. Born in 1987 in Moscow, Russia, I started piano at the age of 5. At the age of 19 I graduated from one of the best musical colleges in Russia (Gnesins State Musical College) with the piano/music theory degree. Few years later I got degree in Audio Engineering with the concentration in Music Recording and Production. I have 5 year experience of teaching students 6-25 y.o.
In Russia, as musician and audio engineer, I was involved in projects ranging from a live jazz concert with Herbie Hancock to television broadcasts including the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi. I chose to further expand my experiences by studying abroad. After being admitted to NYU and Johns Hopkins, I decided on the Middle Tennessee State University three ye
ar Master of Recording Arts and Technologies program. I enjoyed studying under the incredibly talented people there and have had opportunity to work with Alexis Gomez (a young talent and semi-finalist of the American Idol show), to work at the 2016 Bonnaroo Festival in Manchester, and to direct a production of the Nashville Symphony Orchestra. After graduation in May 2017, I moved to Miami where my husband lives and looking forward to meeting new people here and teach piano again in my spare time.

If you choose me as your teacher, you will get not only piano lessons, but also a more broad view on interconnection between music theory, audio and physics of sound. For young students, I offer learning through games and singing songs during the breaks between practicing. I enjoy teaching kids and I am a very patient person.

I have been teaching Russian for more than fifteen years at all levels from middle school to graduate students and native speakers. I incorporate a variety of materials from
contemporary Russian culture (or other areas of content based on student interest) in order to create a relevant and authentic language learning experience.

About Rachel
I have a PhD in Russian and a BA in Spanish. I have taught both languages at many levels, from middle school through to graduate school. As a college student I lived and worked in Moscow, Russia as a security guard at the US Embassy, where I learned lots of unusual vocabulary in Russian related to items that could be picked up by the metal detector. I have also spent time studying and conducting research in Siberia and in St. Petersburg, Russia. I have lived, studied and traveled throughout Mexico, and taught public school Spanish and French for two years prior to graduate school. I am originally from Virginia, and before I started studying Russian in high school, I was planning to be a professional classical pianist. I live in Central Virginia now with my husband and our adorable but very demanding English bulldog, Lou. I am a member and
the Conference Manager for the American Association of Teachers of Slavic and East European Languages, and have taught Russian at the University of Richmond, the University of Virginia, Northern Virginia Community College, and Ferrum College. I regularly publish and present research at conferences in the field of Russian language teaching as well. I am a kind and merciful teacher, but require commitment and dedication from my students. You WILL learn from me, but you have to work too!

I am a native speaker of Russian and I've had experience teaching English and German languages as well. I love Russian language and literature, and my background in Literature and Journalism provides me with huge resources on finding examples and approaches tailored to the interests of each individual student. I believe that Russian is not scary or extraordinarily difficult, and there are a lot of fun ways to memorize and practice various tricks and grammar rules that stand on our way as learners. My goal is for the students to enjoy the lessons and gain as much knowledge about Russian language and culture as possible!

About Polina
I am a fourth-year student at Brown Univeristy, and I come from Moscow, Russia. I have worked as a tutor of English back home, and I was a German Language Teaching Assistant at Brown last semester, which was really rewarding and challenging and taught me the main thing about language learning - practice! I focus more on the conversational aspects of Russian language, the use of idioms and sayings, jargon, all of it being crucial in everyday conversation. Listening to podcasts and contemporary music, watching internet memes and short videos, reading news reports - I find these methods of improving your language skills to be the most valuable in teaching practice, and the most interesting to most students, because they create an immersion into the everyday life of Russia today.
Despite that I study Philosophy, I have a great passion for Rus
sian Literature since my teenage years, and my greatest crushes are Dostoevsky and Chekhov, not mentioning those 20th century classics, such as Bulgakov, Pasternak, or Brodsky. Russian and Soviet cinema is also incredibly rich and powerful, and I am interested in discussing Russian history as it has been portrayed and thought using the power of the screen.
