Born and raised in Germany, Astrid has taught German to from beginners to advanced students in the last few decades at the Berlitz School in New York. Among her students are world renowned artists, musicians, businessmen, and anyone who has the passion and interest in learning the German language, from children to seniors. Having worked as a respected teacher in one of the world's premier language schools (where she was chosen dozens of time to be "teacher of the year"), Ms.Buob-Spector is able to increase her work with private students as well as online teaching. As a native German I can teach you German on a high level! The best way to do that is starting with a simple conversation. Learning through talking, gestures and pictures is the most natural and easy way to be successful in a new language!

As I'm from Hanover I speak the cleanest German with no accent at all! My knowledge of grammar and syntax will help you to learn the 'correct' German!

I am an experienced native speaking German tutor who has been teaching students of all ages and levels. I am a certified Montessori Teacher. I believe in gently guiding, supporting, encouraging but also challenging my students. I love to share many fun facts , i.e. hilarious literal translations, as well as cultural and historical background of Germany. This will give my student a well balanced foundation, he /she will really experience the language, get a “real feel” for it! I customize my curriculum to my students needs, wishes and goals. After a few lessons my students can speak easy sentences and phrases in German already, they will understand even more and will use their newly acquired skills continuously. I strongly stress speaking in my native language to my students from an early point on. It is very important to me to make the language learning a pleasant and enjoyable experience! There shall be lots of laughter! However diligent work and great effort is necessary

I grew up at the Northern tip of the Black Forest in Southwestern Germany and have spent most of my childhood vacations at my grandparents' in the Eifel region, close to the border with Luxemburg. Therefore, I got to grow up with standard German and two quite distinct dialects of German.

Once I started teaching German to refugees and did an internship in a university German class I started to become aware of the intricacies of German grammar and vocabulary and saw it with new eyes. Frankly, I may not be able to explain ALL grammatical phenomena, but it will be my pleasure to explore and expand my knowledge of German with you.

We can discuss what life in the German-speaking world is like, explore German literature and music, and along the way have a look at the grammar, vocabulary and prosody you may need to talk about those things.

Language is a passion of mine! I’m fluent in both German and Swiss German having lived and studied in Zürich, Switzerland for two and a half years. I teach all levels!
