I decided to learn the violin and had no experience or background at all. Mel helped me start off with the essentials and is making sure I know proper form! I am beyond grateful that I found him and recommend him to anyone looking to learn. I promise you won’t regret hiring him to help you along your musical journey. I am most definitely looking forward to all my future lessons! Thank you Mel!
As an adult learner who tried to learn violin on my own for the last six months I have found Mel to be a lifesaver.
He has been very patient and has helped me to fix all the bad habits I developed. The lessons are a nice mix of theory, skill development and working on fun songs.
I highly recommend him.

I take a holistic approach to teaching voice. When you sing, your entire body is your instrument, which means that you have to be attuned to your whole body to produce the healthiest, most organic sound. I've been teaching for 13 years, and in that time I've leaned lots of different methodologies. I use a combination of knowledge from my classical training in conjunction with yoga, mindfulness and real world experience to give my students the best path forward in their musical journey. Whether you're just starting out or already a working professional, with my guidance and teaching you'll be making healthier and freer sounds.

Customized to each student. If the student has not previously taken lessons I use Piano Adventures as the basic course guide. I have found it the most productive and enjoyable for my students. I uses a minimum of the Lesson and Theory book for my younger students with either the basic course or Accelerated course depending on their age and maturity. Adults begin with the All In one adult book. I add the other books that accompany each level based on the particular students needs and interests. I believe that a good grounding in Theory is essential as a student who becomes proficient in sight reading, no matter how well he/she plays by ear, will find that the doors for lifetime musical fulfillment with be much wider. However, with a student who has already had some lessons I will be happy to continue with any method that the student is currently using.
I also believe in supplementing the Piano course with the student's favorite ...

On a personal level, I found Philippe to be extremely likable and a very pleasant person. Some of our most enjoyable class moments were just discussing life experiences and sharing views on the world. He has a lot of wisdom to impart beyond simply teaching the French language.
Perhaps the most helpful insight into who Philippe is as a teacher- and as a person- occurred when our class had to be cancelled because a new Federal Holiday was approved the night before and we were not authorized to work on an official holiday. Given the short notice of the cancellation, the class hours would still be counted and he would be paid in full for the day despite not actually teaching. Knowing my final assessment was coming up the following week, Philippe still worked with me for nearly 6 hours that day, pro bono, simply out of the kindness of his heart and his commitment to his students' success. This truly shows what kind of teacher he is.
When I took my language assessment at the end of our sessions together, I significantly exceeded expectations based on the number of class hours I took. I fully attribute this to the quality of instruction I received from Philippe. I recommend him in the strongest of terms."

And making sign language flashcards can help speed your ASL learning. Using Physical Flashcards Properly us …
