I received my B.A. in German Studies, have completed language training at the Humboldt University of Berlin, and have lived in Germany off-an on for periods of up to three months! Would love to have prepare you for an upcoming trip, have informal conversation in German, tutor you for an upcoming exam, or teach the grammatical basics!

About Abigail
A passionate educator and Suzuki trained teacher, I teach individual and group classes with Suzuki Strings of Austin, violin and viola students at Bedichek Middle School, and run a private violin and viola home studio in Austin and online.

In violin lessons with me, you can expect the focus to go far beyond the technical aspects of the violin, encouraging each student to flourish and reach their full potential. I believe that every student has the ability, drive, and capacity to succeed at, love, and learn from the violin. Whether you're an adult new to the instrument, a young child trying out music lessons for the first time, or an older student returning to the instrument after a few years off, violin lessons will serve as a meaningful musical outlet, a way to discover self-directed learning, and a way to engage with an entire commun
ity of musicians.

Abigail was an enthusiastic teacher who helped spread her love of the violin. She is classically trained and works on the fundamental skills a young violinist needs. Our child enjoyed her sense of humor as well.

I grew up in the German part of Switzerland. I was exposed to the language throughout my schooling years. In my professional life as a doctor's assistant and later CEO assistant I needed to communicate daily in the German language. I studied business for 3 years. Over the last 3 years I have taught numerous people German. Some only need a little guidance, others keep on coming back to master more fluent conversation.

I'm flexible with my time and willing to adapt to my students' needs.

About Karin
Guten Tag,
My name is Karin. I was born and raised in Switzerland. However, Miami is my home now. I love the unique melting pot of Miami. No wonder so many German speaking tourists, investors and patrons are visiting here.

Over more than ten years I have taught numerous people the German language. Some of them only need a little guidance to have a more pleasant traveling experience to Germany. Others keep on coming back to master fluent conversation and writing skills. I'm passionate about tutoring. My goal is to provide an atmosphere that will facilitate an ongoing level of improvement in my students' speaking, writing proficiency. You'll see this by the way I teach. I am flexible with my time and adapt easily to my students' needs. As a first step I get familiar with your expectations. Secondly I recommend an approach that fits you
. Thirdly I want you to have fun and learn in an interactive way.

Bis bald!

PS: Cancellations must be notified at least 24 hours in advance; otherwise, students will be charged in full. Group rates vary.

Karin is great! I don't know any other language but English. She teaches at a good pace, always checking to see if I understand, and willing to repeat words and phrases until I am comfortable. She did a great job of teaching the foundation of sentence structures, vowels and consonants, and proper use of casual vs. formal - which helped me jump right into the lesson. And she gives great feedback! I'm excited for my next lesson! Danke Karin!

*****Each Online Lesson with Free Video & MP3 Recording*****

My emphasis is on a dialogue-driven and comparative introduction for the language to draw out a common ground and familiarize possibly daunting differences. I also enjoy asserting that German is often underestimated as a rewarding second language to study.

I taught German in the language lab of a community college, for special needs students, and for private agencies, such as Creative Support, Berlitz Languages, and Tutor Doctor.

I grew up bilingual English and German, attending an international school from a very young age. I attended, also, a German public secondary school, where I earned a diploma, and I completed German credits at the college level.

I have experience teaching German literature, elementary German, and German grammar. I lived in Germany for over 18 years. Possibly the only dedicated PhD for E-Learning on the TakeLessons server, I am member of the Association for Language Learning, located in ...

***ADDRESSES WITHIN REMOTE AREAS (no public transit or bicycle access) DIFFICULT TO SERVICE PHYSICALLY. Lesson cancellations and schedule changes need to be submitted through Takelessons.com student website, relieve busy teacher from multiple informal requests***

My style and attitude toward teaching is a balance between subject delivery and reflective, supportive interaction. I seek to enable current research on education for busy, yet goal-driven student interests. This is done through customized online lessons coordinating the experience with optimal resources and tools: ESL and Speech students learn to monitor their own phonological issues with dedicated software/feedback, guiding German students through conversational dialogues, and ensuring relevant resources for Excel and related productivity lessons.

German started in my extended family and has gradually become a central part of my life. First I studied German for five years in grammar school. Then I traveled to Germany multiple times, and hosted Couschsurfers from Germany and Austria. My nephews are being raised bilingual in English and German, and I have both native and second language German speakers in my nuclear and extended family. Having this broad perspective on how German fits in the landscape of international communication, I can adapt a students' education to fit their needs whether it be in mastering school skills or learning German for travel, work or to build relationships.

About Jonathan
I studied music therapy and music theory at Temple University from '06-'10. Learned a lot. Then again, I learned even more teaching at a school for kids with learning disabilities and working as a traveling street performer. Once you see the world and work with some unexpected challenges, you learn how to open up and knuckle down at the same time!

I am currently a full-time YouTube Creator, sidelining in cover bands and a solo act. Teaching is a big part of what I do online so I see my work as a private teacher as 'research' for the lessons I create. Although I'm firmly grounded in a classical music training, there's nothing you can ask about that I won't try to figure out. My favorite thing about teaching is using unexpected questions to develop new ideas that I then integrate into my original compositions. Check out my intro to the B
lues Raga video if you want to hear a good story about what I mean.

Recently I've had several articles published by the TakeLessons Blog. Check out my most recent post here.

Susan is a wonderful French teacher both for adults and kids. We have had her as an in-home teacher for both over the past few years during the school year. She is very patient with the kids and keeps it fun for them, and also is a great conversationalist with the adults. I can’t recommend her enough. She is also versatile enough to teach German as well.

I teach a dialect of German that some call Pennsylvania Dutch which is spoken by the Amish and Mennonites in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania and Holmes County, Ohio. My parents were born Amish but have since left and I was raised learning this dialect as well as English.

For the sake of clarity, there is a difference between Pennsylvania Dutch and what I call Holmes County German. The difference is mostly in the accent and some words. I am from Holmes County, Ohio and would be teaching you basic vocabulary, phrases and helping perfect your pronunciation of the dialect.

I don't have any experience other than teaching the some useful phrases and vocabulary to some friends who wanted to learn. But I love teaching and especially enjoy teaching the language of my heritage!

About Tamra
Hi, there! My name is Tamra and I can't wait to meet you! I've been teaching private lessons since 2018 and have loved helping my students begin learning a new language, the violin, and basics of music.
I was homeschooled my whole life (and am very proud of it) and completed a High School equivalent GED course. I took violin lessons for 4 years, taught myself piano and voice.
I love languages, and music and am looking forward to sharing what I know with you!

About Barbara
Thank you very much for your interest in my profile. My name is Barbara, I was born and raised in Germany and worked for 15 years as a Training and Quality Executive in the hotel industry, one of the companies being The Ritz-Carlton, one of the best training companies in the world. I was a public speaker for The Ritz-Carlton, Wolfsburg and provided quality and service training sessions for German companies such as Audi and Siemens. I was also in charge of all in-house training sessions, spent up to 20 hours per week in a classroom environment and was chosen as a Property Opening Trainer for The Ritz-Carlton, Berlin. I transferred with The Ritz-Carlton from Berlin, Germany, to Miami in 2005. I enjoyed working as an Executive at The Ritz-Carlton, South Beach until 2009, when I got married and had my daughter.

l my now nine-year old daughter for two years, who, as a result, is fluent in German in both speaking and writing. We moved to NYC in 2013 and I was approved by and followed the official NYC Department of Education guidelines for homeschooling. I joined a weekly after-school program at my church in NYC, taught in English, for Grades 1 to 6 as a tutor in 2014 and have been the director since 2015. I work remotely, with a team of eight volunteers and we assist between 8 to 12 children every week. We focus on Common Core English Language Arts - spelling, writing, reading, and Elementary Math. My family and I just relocated to Florida - Tampa this time - and we are enjoying the sun!

My husband is of Japanese origin. Being in an interracial marriage and raising a child in a household where multiple languages are spoken, I truly appreciate and understand the importance of learning about different cultures and languages. I asked my daughter and my students how they would describe my teaching style. They said: "Fun, never boring, we learn a lot and play games, a little strict sometimes but in a good way." My after-school kids do come back every week and enjoy the program, that makes for a good reference, I would say.

Having tutored for many years and being a language student myself (intermediate Japanese), I know how to keep students interested in learning - and I love to work with different materials such as games, books, worksheets and role play to keep it interesting and motivating. I spend some time in Germany each year and purchase new and stimulating learning materials on a regular basis. If you are interested in beginner or advanced German lessons for yourself or your child, I am looking forward to meeting you, either in person or online!

German is my favorite language and is the one that I have studied the most during my years of college. As a self studier, I have perfected the skills of ensuring a student to be extremely productive during his or her own time. I am fluent in Mandarin and proficient in French and Russian. I have published a book documenting all the tips and strategies I've inherited on my own. Since German is not my native tongue, I know how to teach it from a technical point of view, rather from feeling. I'm a 19 y/o attending Pepperdine University pursuing a Mechanical Engineering major. Languages is my hobby and it should be yours too!

About Edward
I'm going to be a 3rd year student at Pepperdine University pursuing an Engineering degree. I'm a huge language learner, being able to converse in about 8 languages but I only wish to teach 3 of them for now. As someone who prefers self studying to learning from classrooms, I've perfected the method for students to improve drastically from their previous lesson by self preparing. I prefer to teach online especially for further students but those that are close I wouldn't mind commuting. My hours are pretty flexible during the weekdays.
