"Turtle." It was the first sign I learned as a kid, and it stuck with me. From that time forward, I wanted to learn American Sign Language. I didn't have the opportunity until I reached college, where I dove head first into the world of ASL and the Deaf community.

I earned a Bachelor's Degree in Education with certifications in Deaf Education and Elementary Education. I have been a Teacher for the Deaf since graduating college in 2014.

I have a passion for the language and the culture. I want to share that passion with you!

We will start wherever you are and with whatever you want to learn! If you're just starting out, we will start by learning the alphabet and numbers, along with some of the grammatical rules of American Sign Language. We will quickly develop a working vocabulary, and you'll be having silent conversations before
you know it!

I am available to teach online and in person. Hope to see you soon!

My name is Kyoko. I am a native speaker of Japanese, born and raised in Japan. (As you might guess, my name came from the beautiful city of Kyoto.) When I was in college in Osaka, Japan, I started helping a lot of exchange students with their Japanese. Since then, teaching Japanese has been my passion. I enjoy explaining the grammar until my students fully understand it.

I moved to the U.S. In 2005. Currently I'm raising three bilingual children.

I love photography, crafts, watching anime, and traveling. I'd love to talk to you about all kinds of things. :)

Over the years I obtain a master degree from National Louis University in education with emphasis in curriculum and instruction and bilingual/ESL. I am fluent in Spanish and can get by in french and german if the need arrives. I not only taught children but I also have taught at University level English as a /Second Language and Spanish. I have also coached new teachers, have been a reading teacher for primary grades and an ESL resource teacher. I love teaching very much and because of it I feel children and adults do le
arn in my clases.
Two years ago I wrote and published a book to help parents navigate their children school years. It was my intention that parents could have a self help manual that aides them in the different ways school districts work which sometimes are hard to navigate. I am currently working on a Spanish translation of my book and I also have a blog that follow the same idea.
I have been married for 31 years and have two grown sons. My favorite pastime is gardening for which I am taking classes to learn more about it. I also take painting and calligraphy lessons. I feel that learning is a life long commitment and is good for the soul and a healthy brain.
