I feel that learning in general and learning a foreign language in particular is about repetition and I ask my students to repeat everything I teach over and over again until they know it by heart. I keep my lessons simple to avoid overwhelming the students and to allow time for them to repeat what they learned earlier. I teach the words that form part of the so called core vocabulary; words that are chosen according to frequency and range (in the sense that they “occur across a wide variety of texts”) It is often said that the first 2000 most frequent words cover approximately 90% of the vocabulary used by native-speakers in daily conversations. This means that for a student they represent the basic resource to be able to communicate.

I have been living for a year in Italy, Bologna (2007-2008). I started to learn Italian there. It seemed to be hard. With time, it has been becoming more natural. This is a beautiful language one can learn.

I picked up most of my Italian work for an Italian organization for 7 years. Now it is my past. However, Italian is still my present and I would love to share my knowledge with those who learn Italian.
I will customize the lesson for each student. The most important is trust between a teacher and a student. If you feel I could help you, I would love to help.

Mi piacerebbe di trovare il modo di condividere con gli altri quello che ho imparato io. Grazie! Alla prossima!

I appreciated the lessons with Irina. She helped me a lot with my English.

She managed to find the closest way for me to start speaking. I'd say her superpower is good knowledge of the subject together with the good awareness of how human mind works. It makes the learning highly effective.

Irina, thank you!

Only language teacher, who has lot of patience to address your queries, appreciate it. She can also touch upon various literary works which would ignite further interest in language learning. Much recommended.

I was born in Italy and lived there for 36 years. I went to school there and I have a Bachelor Degree from one of the oldest Universities in Europe, the University of Verona. Before college, I attended the Liceo Linguistico, where I extensively studied Italian Grammar in connection to Latin, French and German. I can honestly say I master the Italian grammar in all of its structures.
I am professional, flexible and I strive to meet my students’ goals no matter what level that they are at. I plan, prepare, and deliver lessons tailored to a range of age groups, levels, individual goals and interests. I myself speak 4 languages and studied Latin in addition to that, and I believe that exposure is the only way to really learn another language. This is why I use conversation on regular basis during my lessons, to make sure my students can actively use what they are learning with confidence, starting with simple phrases and then gradually build up to more complex ones.

I give Gina a 5 star because it doesn't have a 10. She is awesome, smart, fun, and caring. I take Spanish and makes so much easier because she also speaks fluent Portuguese (my native language), and she can explain the difference between both language. I highly recommend Gina :)
