My emphasis is on a dialogue-driven media-enriched, and comparative introduction for the language to draw out a common ground and familiarize possibly daunting differences. I use a customized curriculum addressing frequently requested topics, as family, travel, outdoor, seasons, and custom themes for an optimal lesson experience.
For example, students have favorably reviewed my unique usage of audio monitoring software during online lessons to help approximate accent issues between different languages. Students obtain a repository of audio files to complement each lesson. My multimedia approach that coordinates sound, visual, and online resource, as Easy German and Google Earth, turns German into a good choice for a second or additional language.
I grew up bilingual English and German, attending an international school from a very young age. I attended, also, a German public secondary school, where I earned a diploma, and I completed German credits at the college level. Therefore, ...

Erol utilizes an audio software to analyze and determine what needs to be worked. This eliminates a lot of human hearing errors and gives me a visual on what’s correct vs incorrect. Highly recommended for you to try his method out.

I enjoyed the lesson very much, he started out teaching things that made sense so that I would learn faster than the lessons I have previously taken and not done well with.
I'm looking forward to the next lesson and am practicing what we went over in class.

I Just want to thank Daria one more time to take ample time to offer me a tarot reading. As most of us know that, the answer that we seek, we already have the innate ability to get it, for part of us already knows the right answer.
I am grateful to Daria because she talked with me throughout the whole process with such great care and got me to the root of my situation.

It was a positive vibrant and productive session.
I wish her a very happy and healthy spiritual journey! 🙏
Barbora S.
Daria read tarot cards for me the other day as I've asked her a question whether me applying in a new career field was a good idea? I've finished college in 2018 and couldn't find employment for over a year, then I finished a qualification course for teacher assistants and soon after I was given my first stable employment (been freelancing before). Full of optimism but with a grain of doubt I asked the stars/cards/higher power whether me choosing this career was a good move. Daria was able to confirm my own observations plus she added wise words of her own.

The reading doesn't give you a clear yes/no answer but if you've done a fair bit of introspection beforehand, the cards' advice may calm you down or offer you a new perspective you haven't considered before.
Kate K.
Daria gave me an online tarot reading about a month ago, and I came away with an experience that was enlightening and empowering. What I found unique about her approach as a psychic is that she combined her skilled intuition with practical advice that I could actually use to improve my life and find a measure of calm. She begins her sessions either with a specific question her client has in mind (whether it's related to relationships, family, career, aspirations, spiritual life, etc.), and if you do not come to her with a specific question, she is more than willing to do a general reading for you. (In my case, I sought advice related to my anxiety issues and their impact on my relationship with my fiancé, and over the past several weeks, things have really improved! So thank you!) If you are looking for someone who can help you see your circumstances more clearly and put you in touch with a spiritual sensibility, then Daria is someone to go see. She is not one of those charlatan psychics who will charge you excessively and then cloud your mind with bizarre, hazy predictions. She's an open-minded person and a great listener, and she's there to give you the tools to find joy and meaning.

German started in my extended family and has gradually become a central part of my life. First I studied German for five years in grammar school. Then I traveled to Germany multiple times, and hosted Couschsurfers from Germany and Austria. My nephews are being raised bilingual in English and German, and I have both native and second language German speakers in my nuclear and extended family. Having this broad perspective on how German fits in the landscape of international communication, I can adapt a students' education to fit their needs whether it be in mastering school skills or learning German for travel, work or to build relationships.

About Jonathan

I studied music therapy and music theory at Temple University from '06-'10. Learned a lot. Then again, I learned even more teaching at a school for kids with learning disabilities and working as a traveling street performer. Jonathan is incredibly skilled, a great teacher, fun, and very patient with our gregarious and somewhat distracted 9-year old boy. He has creative, tailored teaching techniques, will try new things, but also keeps our son motivated and progressing. He responds perfectly and patiently to my son when he veers off task, and gets him back on task. We are absolutely thrilled and couldn't have found a better teacher.

My son has special needs related to an anoxic brain injury. This can create frustration with simple things like learning a new chord that feels funny or is difficult to move your fingers to. He always checks in with us to see what concerns we have and then, helps us by offering suggestions on how to make something easier or less frustrating to learn. I think Jonathan does a good job of meeting us where we are. Jonathan is patient with both of us. Today, he talked to my son about practicing communicating so we can understand how to help him learn. He talked to me about it being ok to break away from the timing and to hit chords at the same time as my son so the song can come together.

Jonathan is flexible and easy to work with. My son has some struggles as a result of an anoxic brain injury. Jonathan is very understanding and patient with my son. He has also helped me with advice and suggestions on how to work with my son. We love the spirit of the ukulele and the good vibes it has.

"Madleine is an outstanding German instructor. I’ve been taking weekly private lessons with her for over a year. Aside from being a native speaker who is also fluent in English, she has a natural knack for languages in general which makes her effective at identifying not just when I make a grammatical or vocabulary mistake, but why. This speeds the learning process. I am thrilled at my progress over the past year, and was delighted that I could follow conversations and comfortably move around Germany when I traveled there last fall. Before the trip we tailored my lessons to include role-play scenarios related to cafés, train stations, hotels, asking directions on the street, etc. Madleine is happy to incorporate contemporary culture into lessons, so that for example we discuss (in German) German Netflix shows like “Dark,” or translate lyrics from German music. As far as course administration, she’s flexible and responsive, which is important to me since I travel a lot for my job and often have to reschedule. I absolutely recommend Maddie as a German instructor!"

Learn German in Los Angeles

Many native English speakers are able to pick up German surprisingly fast. That's because the languages share the word roots, grammar, and syntax found in a 1,500 year old Germanic dialect. Both modern English and German sprung from this ancient language.

Today, about 90 million people are native speakers of standard German (Hoch Deutsch), 30 million speak other forms of German, and about 80 million people speak German as a second language.

In addition to the country's rich culture (home of cuckoo clocks and the birthplace of earth-shakers like Karl Marx, Johannes Gutenberg, Mozart, and Einstein), Germany is also a center for business.

It's the world's second largest exporter and fourth largest economy. When you sign up for private German lessons in Los Angeles, you’re taking a step into the world of commerce, science, philosophy, fine art, and scrumptious cuisine.

The Benefits of German Language Classes in Los Angeles

Although Southern California seems far away from the forests and industry of Germany, Los Angeles is home to vibrant cultural centers and diverse communities, including about 11,000 native German speakers, which makes it a great place to study the language.

Thanks to its robust German community, people studying German in Los Angeles have the opportunity to immerse themselves in the culture by attending the many events held by local German culture clubs.

The Phoenix Club, for example, hosts weekly German dances and festive events such as stein-holding contests and accordion music concerts. The German-American League of Los Angeles also holds a variety of events open to the community such as Oktoberfest, traditional dances, and food-packed carnivals.

Taking German classes in Los Angeles will not only be fun and interesting, but it could also open the doors to local job opportunities in sales, law, administration, and hospitality which require applicants to be familiar with German.

Studying with a German Tutor in Los Angeles

Our directory features dozens of highly-qualified, private German tutors in Los Angeles with years of teaching experience. She attributes her excellence in German tutoring to the fact that she’s been studying German since a young age.

Another favorite German tutor in Los Angeles is Erol G. who has a PhD in Education Leadership with an emphasis in language learning, in addition to years of language teaching in a variety of settings. Erol G. offers beginning through advanced German tutoring in Los Angeles and is available to teach both children and adults.

"Really impressed," one reviewer of Erol G. wrote. "I can already do the High German R much better after only one lesson. He explains difficult concepts in a way that I can understand. Class pacing is very good. There are a variety of interesting materials to review, and he is very prepared. I am very happy so far."

Starting Private German Lessons in Los Angeles

Be sure to prepare by gathering everything you need for German classes in Los Angeles before your first lesson. Get inspired to learn by browsing through a few German titles at Taschen, a popular German bookstore in Beverly Hills. Then stop by the Los Angeles Library and Library Store to check out a German-English dictionary and stock up on fresh learning supplies like pens, highlighters, flashcards, and notebooks.

After just your first lesson, you’ll be able to speak several German phrases and practice your pronunciation. With your new knowledge, you’ll likely be eager to try out your German language chops. Join one of the several German language groups, like the German Language and Culture Meetup.

Or if you're feeling thirsty, grab a stein and see if you can find a native German speaker at Los Angeles's own Biergarten located on South Broadway. You’ll find that practice makes perfect when taking German language classes in Los Angeles, and the city of Angels is a very inviting place to learn!
