Lessons are tailored to the individual student's initial abilities. In all genres of music it is important to breathe well, have breath support, communicate the emotion and character of the song, and eliminate vocal bad habits. These issues are different for everyone.

I teach a classical Italian technique of breath support and beautiful tone, and these techniques can be applied to all musical styles.

The student will be assigned and choose songs to learn and work on as we incorporate the techniques into the songs and vocal exercises.

Piano lessons and Italian lessons are also available from ages 5 and up.

About Trevor
Every musician was first and foremost a fan of music. My love of
music began when my mother took me to a performance of Beethoven's
fifth symphony when, coincidentally, I was five. From that point, I
started fervently listening to my mother's records (those are the
huge, black monstrosities that people in the pre-historic used in
place of iPods), followed closely by my father's CD collection.
After a while, this ravenous desire of to know and feel music moved
me to play an instrument. After a couple of false starts with the
drums and violin, I found my true musical calling: the guitar.

On January 25th 1995, on a whim, I began playing the
guitar, and I have yet to put it down. Along the way I've picked up
a number of friends for my guitar, including the bass, the lute, the
sitar and, once again, the drums. After on
ly a few years of
practice, I started playing professionally, in bands and solo guitar.
Live playing experience, I believe, is the most important experience
that any musician can have, in that, the most important part of music
is how it sounds, and playing in front of people is the quickest way
to learn how to play effectively. And this is what I teach; how to
be a musician, not just a technician.

*** Lesson Details ***
A student can expect a curriculum tailor-made to their needs and personality. Every person learns differently and this is an important distinction in my teaching style. Some students need a strong hand to keep them working, others need to find many different ways to the same conclusion to keep them focused, while still others need a laid-back friend in order to accept knowledge.

I stress rhythmic literacy, for, as my jazz teacher always said, "rhythm is king." If composition is important to you, then we'll focus on music theory, but if you're just wanting to learn how to play some fun rock tunes with your friends on the weekends, we can do that as well. As I stated before, we'll get you playing in front of people in no time.

*** Travel Equipment ***
I provide an amplifier, a loner guitar (if needed), staff and/or tablature paper, metronome, pens and paper for the lessons.

*** Specialties ***
Music theory and composition, guitar, bass, lute, beginner to intermediate piano
Classical, shred, blues, and rock guitar; renaissance lute; blues, rock and slap bass; composition of many styles; world music.

I would think the first lesson is always the hardest to start since as an instructor you don’t know what skill level you will be teaching. Trevor started the class asking what I wanted to accomplish and ended with lots of practice lessons for me to complete. Looking forward to more classes with him.

¡Hola! ¡Bienvenido! Hello and Welcome!

my name's Jason and I love Spanish and Latin America.

I'm currently a doctoral student. I majored in Spanish at University of California, Davis, lived in Mexico for 3 years where I completed a Master's degree in Counseling, studied Spanish Literature and Psychology at the University of Costa Rica for 7 months and have traveled around a few other Latin American Countries.

My goal is to tailor the lessons to what best helps you learn. I can do conversation classes and academic ones too. I have a lot of material and activities to facilitate fun learning. My command of the language is almost native. I prefer to work with those who really want to learn, just so we both use our time wisely. I work best with those who already have a base in Spanish but want to prefect their knowledge of proverbs
, sayings, jokes, cultural aspects of Spanish, grammar, vocabulary, conjugation, listening and overall language skills. That said, I can work with anyone at any level of Spanish, and have experiences with students from ages 5 to 67.

Jason inspired me to have a break-through with my Spanish. As a nurse with many Hispanic patients, after only 3 classes with Jason, I successfully triage'd a patient using almost all Spanish. I was pretty stoked about the whole thing. It was a really good confidence boost to not only use it and be understood by the lady, but I understood her too. Not every little word, mind you, but I was able to pick out a lot of the context and figure out what was going on. Working with Jason makes me feel like I'm opening up a whole new avenue in my practice, even after 15 years of repetition. I have Jason to thank for this and it's just boosted me towards learning more.

Jason is a quality Spanish teacher. Not only does he have a native command of the language (as verified by my Latino co-worker), but Jason is also a skilled language instructor. Two attributes of Jason that I particularly value are his attention to detail and the way he highlights language patterns to facilitate learning. It is evident that Jason has a huge passion for teaching Spanish.

About Kesley
I focus mainly in tutoring and managing group study sessions for English learners, whether they are international students or native speakers. I have spent the past five years teaching English, ESL and Creative Writing in various countries. I have a certificate in TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language) and TKT (Teacher Knowledge Test: Young Learners), and am currently working towards acquiring a CBEST (California Basic Educational Skills Test) certification as well.

I like to teach in a fun and comfortable environment. My teaching philosophy is that learning should be exciting, not boring. It is much easier for students to learn a subject if they enjoy studying it. I am a very patient and understanding individual, so no matter the student's level, I always find a way to work the subject matter around their needs.

I look forwa

About Hissael
I have been teaching and tutoring students for 6 years now. I teach math and guitar. The thing I love most about my teaching isn't the end result of a student's passing report card or a student's accomplishment of learning a difficult musical piece. It is the effort that takes place between the student and the tasks, along with guidance. The student's ability to think and approach the tasks, whether it is music, math, or English in a way that fully immerses the student's creativity and understanding is at the foundation of my teaching. I can help your child pass his/her tests, I can help them read music and play their favorite songs, but, I encourage them to overcome the challenges that they face when they are on their own in the classroom and practice room. This is the curriculum I teach.

I look back upon that time as so important in the development of the person that I am today, Teacher Jay changed my whole aspect on my learning. She taught me more than I could have imagined, both about academics and about myself, I wouldn't be where I am today without her. I am so glad to have her in my life , without her I couldn't pass my Ielts Exam, and I have no doubt it was her help that made the difference. She has a strong background about Ielts, Tofel, and others, her techniques and strategy are amazing, she has an excellent resources. I never really believed that I could do well in Ielts, She opened my eyes to what I could be, what I could do in a way that I've never thought possible. Jay tough me meaningful things Such as make a smart decision, never be a fraid to make mistakes, give respect. She tought me that I could achieve more than what I or other people thought that I was capable of. I still remember one lesson where she told me about her hopes for her future, she also told me about her successes, and for some reason, it all resonated with me, and I started to relize that anything really is possible. we became friends and we still keep in touch.
To teacher Jay:
Thank you for staying behind to help me, even I know there are lots of other places you'd rather be.
Thank you for explaining things until I understand.
Thank you for being my teacher and my friend.
Thank you for your kidness and respect.
Thank you isn't really enough to express my gratitude to you.

I learned a lot from Jay’s classes, she helped me with all the linguistic difficulties that any student who doesn’t speak the English Language as thier native language may face. She understand the linguistic barriers of the the non-native English speakers and she knows how to deal with them. The best part of her way of teaching is how she gradually and smoothly moves the ESL students from a basic English level to a higher one!! Challenging the students to give thier best and more for learning purposes is really difficult specially when teaching students from all over the world with huge cultural differences but it is not difficult for a Skilled teacher as Jay!!

Hello! My name is Whitney and I'm a fulltime English teacher from California. I have been teaching English for over 12 years and I have a Master's degree in TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages).

I have taught many different subjects, including speaking, pronunciation, grammar, business English, academic writing, and more. I've also taught beginners through very advanced English learners, as well as a range of ages, from kids to adults (although mostly teenagers and adults).

In addition to teaching, I'm also a professional writer, creating content for several websites and digital marketing agencies. I love writing and I love helping students improve their writing, too.

I have been fortunate enough to travel extensively and live abroad. From 2013 to 2015 I taught English at a university in Korea, which was a won
derful experience. I've traveled to almost 20 countries, and I spent most of 2016 in Southeast Asia and Europe. Having lived in other countries, I understand the struggles associated with communicating in a foreign language.

As a teacher, I am friendly, patient, and kind (and funny, I hope!), but I also care very much about my students' learning and I create lessons that are challenging but interesting, fun, and connected to the students' real lives and/or their specific goals. I also encourage students to talk as much as possible!

I look forward to meeting you!

Hello there! My name is Sharaine, but you can call me Sunny! I am looking forward to getting to know you and I’m so excited to share a long-life passion of mine with you! My love for the English language started at an early age, while reading literature from various genres. My mother was an English teacher for 20 years before becoming an administrator. My appreciation for the complexity of such a language didn’t develop until much later, but I was always raised the be the best at everything I do. I’ve been coached to do SAT prep, even while in High School. Although I have strayed away from that, my desire to go deeper in my native tongue has never simmered. The most important thing my mother ever taught me was how to perfect the first language I had ever learned. I’d love to help you perfect English as well.
