I received my bachelors degree from International Christian University in Tokyo, where I lived for five years. In Japan I worked in customer service and as a translator and interpreter, so I am comfortable with both formal and informal Japanese, and I believe it is important to learn both. I grew up in Honolulu, where Japanese is widely taught as a second language, and have extensive experience tutoring learners of the language. I can also teach violin lessons in Japanese.

About Kelsea
I began teaching violin when I was in high school, and have taught various students in the years since. I also have extensive experience working as a nanny, and have worked with all ages, from infants to teenagers. In addition to having studied classical violin for 17 years, I am a songwriter and arranger, and perform my string arrangements with other songwriters in various venues around New York City. I have a bachelors degree in linguistics with a minor in music from International Christian University in Tokyo, where I researched the cognitive relationship between speech and music for my graduating thesis. I recently moved to Western Mass after finishing my master's degree in violin performance at Belmont University in Nashville.

**I do have a dog and a cat, so if you or your child has a pet allergy, lessons in my home will not be th
e right option for you.

She is very nice and easy to learn from. She explains everything so great and if I have any questions or need her to slow down she adjusts to fit my needs! She's the best!!! I've only had one lesson from her so far and I can't wait for my next lesson. She makes a difficult language to learn simple and clear.

Over the years I've used different books to teach, and I've found that the following books have worked well for my students:
- Youths (Ages 10 - 17): Japanese for Young People; Japanese from Zero
- College Students: Genki; Elementary Japanese
- Adults: Japanese for Busy People
- For the intermediate Japanese learners: Japanese Tutor - Grammar and Vocabulary Workbook.
- I can also get the textbooks that the students use at their classrooms.

About Kaz
I am a native Japanese speaker, born and raised in Japan. After moving to the U.S. to attend college, I worked for a couple of U.S companies before I came to work for Cornell University in Ithaca, NY, as a staff member.

My tutoring sessions are usually held on the Cornell University campus or at coffee shops in Ithaca. I also provide interactive online lessons using Skype. My services include: spoken and written language lessons; school work supplement for high school- and college-level courses; and cultural and travel preparations.

I offer a free initial interview session to see how I can best customize my lessons for each student. We can decide which material would be appropriate for the individual students at the initial interview session. (Please note that the students are responsible for providing their own materials.)

I've been in love with the Japanese language for over 20 years now, and teaching it for at least 15. I love to make my lessons interactive, with games, white board activities, and conversation. I use a variety of methods to teach, so my students gain a well-rounded understanding of the language. Whenever appropriate, I incorporate cultural notes and information about Japanese customs and holidays.

About Patience
I have a BS in Japanese, and have traveled to Japan 3 times, including my 4-month homestay experience. I have been a tutor for several years, but previously worked in language exchange programs both at Mount Union College and at University of Pennsylvania.
When I did my Japanese homestay, I lived with a family who had limited understanding of English, so I learned very quickly and relied upon my knowledge of Japanese. Each time I've returned, I've done the same, so that I am constantly learning, practicing, and improving myself.
I have tutored adults, adolescents, and children such as my 3 year old niece. I have a wide range of resources, books, fun games and activities that I have gathered or created over the years, that make learning exciting and keep it interesting.

Hello, my name is Maxmillion. I was born and raised on the beautiful island of Guam, and my parents are both from Okinawa, Japan. I grew up speaking both English and Japanese, and spent many summers attending school in Okinawa. I am comfortable teaching conversational Japanese, hiragana, katakana, basic kanji, and I can also help with proper pronunciation. I currently offer online lessons and in home lessons, but can also meet up locally at a coffee shop, library, etc. よろしくお願いします!

About Maxmillion
I am very proud to have been born and raised on the lovely island of Guam! I have been playing guitar, bass, and drums since I was 15, and have had a passion for music since I can remember. In 2007, I earned my associates degree in music from Musicians Institute Hollywood. I have had my music placed in popular television shows, such as “The Real World” and “Road Rules," as well as the film “The Tested.”

I previously played guitar in a project called Xolie Morra and the Strange Kind. We were featured as the musical guest on the popular late night talk show, "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" in January 2014. We were also featured on the local television programs "Art Zone with Nancy Guppy" and "New Day Northwest." We are also featured on YouTube as sponsored artists on EMGtv and Blue Microphones. I also have had the opportunity to share the stage with
Crosby Stills and Nash, John Mayer, Don Felder, Brandi Carlile, Russell Ferrante, Travis Carlton, and the Dirty Dozen Brass Band.

Guitar is my main focus, but I am also comfortable teaching bass and ukulele. I love all styles, and specialize in rock, blues, funk, pop, reggae, metal, and acid jazz. I have experience teaching students of all ages (as young as 4 years old) and am currently an active teacher. I am also fluent in Japanese.

Max is very knowledgable about music and it's theories. However, he also understands where his students are and what they need. He made lessons in guitar applicable at my level. He is very patient and works well with kids. You can tell he genuinely cares for people and wants them to improve!

I am a native Japanese speaker with a Japanese teaching credential. All ages and levels are welcomed! Lessons are customized and catered to the needs/goals of each student. I am also qualified to tutor graduate students (Master’s and PhD) doing their thesis.
I believe when we learn other languages, it is important to learn their culture, history, etc. for better understanding. I’ve learned Japanese drums, how to wear Kimono, Tea and flower ceremonies so that we can explore Japanese culture more than just learning the language!

Bio:
I have been in love with language my whole life. This led to learning and studying English for the past 30 years. In learning English I rediscovered my love of Japanese language as well. I would like to share my enthusiasm for Japanese language with you.

I grew up in a family in which everyone was a t
eacher including my grandmothers, grandfather, aunts, uncle, and my parents. My family inspired me to become an educator as well where I would have the chance to make a difference in students' educational, social, and emotional well-being. I earned my teaching credential from Kochi Women's University in Japan and a Master's in Intercultural communication from Kobe University, Japan.

During graduate school days, I worked as a tutor for international Master's and PhD students to assist them on their theses in Japanese. After I moved to Los Angeles, I started my career in the corporate world, and have worked in the US, Canada and Japan for last 15 years. In Canada, I taught Classic Japanese and Chinese Poetry at Toronto Japanese School as a high school teacher.

I am a graduate from the University of Arizona, majoring in East Asian Studies. That major included a focus on the Japanese language and culture, as well as a Minor in Mandarin Chinese. I have been studying the Japanese Language for 9 years now, and 4 of the years include a formal university-level education, 2 of them being in Japan.

I lived and studied in Saitama, Japan for 6 months, graduating from the Japanese Studies Program at Tokyo International University in the Fall of 2012.

I later worked as an ESL (English as a second language) Teacher in both Elementary and Junior High Schools; 5th-9th grade; in Japan. While I was there, I taught ESL classes as well as cultural classes. I also selected and coached 4 students in a city-wide English speech contest where 2 of my students placed 1st and 2nd in their divisions.

My career path is focused on teaching English and Japanese as second languages, as well as encouraging studying abroad during higher education.

About Jahara
Just some information on me and my language background:

I am a graduate from the University of Arizona, majoring in East Asian Studies. That major included a focus on the Japanese language and culture, as well as a Minor in Mandarin Chinese. laced 1st and 2nd in their divisions.

My career path is focused on teaching English and Japanese as second languages, as well as encouraging studying abroad during higher education. I have also completed a minor in Mandarin Chinese, which means I have 2 formal years of study. I also speak basic level Korean and Spanish.

I believe that language is a strong, lucrative tool in today's society. Not only does it improve one's credentials in the competitive job market; highlighting you over others; but it also allows one to expand his/her mind by making the cultures of other nations accessible. It is a social tool that enables a person to be able to work well with others in an array of environments, including multicultural.

On top of it all, learning a language is fun. I truly truly love it, and I believe that anyone who sets their mind to it, with the proper tools and resources, can do it. Whether that just be some survival phrases for your upcoming vacation (which Ive done) or you're looking to master the language. That is what I am here for. I want to be a resource for students of ALL ages, and assist and support them in their language journey.

From a teaching standpoint I believe that lessons should be interactive and fun I worked with incoming college freshman as a mentor, working with my colleagues to organize and execute fun and educational events that would encourage the students to get excited about learning. I actively created games and fun interactive activities and worksheets for my younger students in Japan. The best learning is the kind you do without realizing it.

I am a native speaker of Japanese. I have been working as a teaching assistant of the Japanese language for 3.5 years, and I currently teach 1 beginner and 1 intermediate classes in college.

I understand your struggle of learning a new language. I could not speak English at all before I moved to the US when I was 15. I had studied English for 6 years before I came here, but the writing/reading focused education did not give me the "true" ability of speaking English.

In my lesson, I would like to focus on speaking Japanese rather than grammar and readings. If you are planning to travel, study abroad, go on a business trip, etc, I would be a great choice for you!
