Maya has been my violin and piano teacher for about 7 years. She’s very patient and fun to work with, but sometimes strict for what I work on. We have to prepare for the annual students recital she has in the spring, but i feel I’ve learned a lot from her. She’s my favorite teacher!

I am a native Japanese speaker with a Japanese teaching credential. All ages and levels are welcomed! Lessons are customized and catered to the needs/goals of each student. I am also qualified to tutor graduate students (Master’s and PhD) doing their thesis.
I believe when we learn other languages, it is important to learn their culture, history, etc. for better understanding. I’ve learned Japanese drums, how to wear Kimono, Tea and flower ceremonies so that we can explore Japanese culture more than just learning the language!

I love her! She is so energetic and engaging! It feels like learning with a friend then with an instructor. She gives me when praise and encouragement when I do something well which helps boost my confidence in learning/speaking Japanese, something I lacked when I was taking languages in school. 10/10 would recommend if you are looking for a fun one on one while learning a new language!

Learn to speak and read Japanese, have fun, and get to speak with a native Japanese speaker who only recently moved to the US.

I was born and raised in Hiroshima prefecture, Japan. I have a long history of teaching English to Japanese students at the Junior and High School levels, and use my skills now to teach English speakers about Japanese language.

About Yae

My family was enthusiastic about international cultures, and so I became an English teacher in Japan. I taught English to Junior High School students in Osaka for more than 10 years. During this time I realized the importance of experiencing other cultures first-hand, so I went to the US and stud

Mrs Yae isn't only an extremely careful, thoughtful and well prepared instructor, she is also able to offer an insight into the culture which helps a lot when learning a language that isn't commonly used in this part of the world. As an ESL instructor myself, I appreciate Mrs Yae's techniques when it comes to explaining some of the most complicated aspects of the language, I highly recommend her services.
