My japanese level is intermediate, but I have difficulty listening and speaking. I was too nervous trying not to mess up or not to sound rude. She made it possible for me to carry on conversation without being awkward. She is engaging and her teaching method is effective. I would recommend her 100%.

She has a great grasp of Japanese culture and teaches relevant and important words and phrases to assist with learning Japanese and its culture. She understands all aspects of language and grammar, as well as cultural insights. She is fun to listen to and enthusiastic. I would recommend her 100%.

As a native Japanese speaker, who has spent the last 30 years in the United States, I understand the structural and grammatical differences in the two languages. This gives me both the teacher’s and the student’s perspectives, which I find valuable as a language instructor.

I have taught Japanese to college students and adults, using beginning Japanese textbooks, and I am most comfortable teaching high school/college students and adults.
I can also teach conversational Japanese and/or customize the lesson to meet each student’s particular goals and needs.

Send me a message to find out if we are a good match!

Takashima sensei is a very kind instructor who is very approachable. She allows contact outside of meetings for questions in a rather friendly atmosphere so you won't feel silly for asking questions. It makes for a comfortable learning environment where it's OK to make mistakes, but you will come out of it knowing more than you did before.

Since she is a native speaker, she is perfect for practicing speaking with someone out in the real world.

We tend to notice them most in comics as sound effects: zippers "zip" and light switches "click." They're fun to say and they certainly aren't hard to learn. …
