My lessons build beginners from a point of zero or basic knowledge of Italian to the point at which they will feel comfortable reading intermediate texts, chatting with native speakers, and understanding the majority of content they find online such as YouTube videos or podcasts. We will use a communicative approach founded upon comprehensible input, which research has shown is the most effective method for true acquisition of a language, as opposed to simply learning about the language. We will mostly be working through l'Italiano Secondo il Metodo Natura, which is perfect both for people with no prior Italian experience or for people who have studied Italian previously through more traditional methods and wish to fill the gaps in their knowledge. Upon completion of this text and other supplementary materials, you will be at a solid intermediate level.

In addition, for students who are interested, using my linguistics background, I can train you to pronounce Italian with a ...

Raphael is a fantastic instructor who provides informative, effective, and highly enjoyable lessons.

He's a master of languages, which means that he is able to easily and comprehensibly explain even complex language functions, and provide interesting facts and explanations about the origins of words and grammatical features, and the links between different languages, drawing on his wealth of knowledge.

Most importantly, the lessons are incredibly engaging, and Raphael ensures that the way in which you go through the material and learn is matched to your ability, whilst teaching you practical use of the language.

I was initially somewhat apprehensive about learning languages online, and about the somewhat different "immersion" approach suggested by Raphael, but after a little while now I can say that with Raphael as my teacher, it has been far more effective in a shorter period than any extended period of university study or self-directed study has been for me before!

One of the best teachers I’ve ever met! Incredibly knowledgeable in phonetics, and a natural master of the language. I’ve learned more from Raphael than any teacher in my life.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 5 STARS!
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

Yes! I finally get it, all thanks to Raphael Turrigiano. I’ve learned more from Raphael in only a few weeks than I’ve ever had in years of trying to self-teach and even taking college courses.

Trust in his process. With Raphael’s lesson plans, guidance, and support, he will help you build a strong foundation in your Italian language learning skills.

My first day meeting with Raphael, I was nervous and not sure if I was going to be able to learn much since I have failed many times before, but he was so kind, friendly, professional, informative, and fun. I instantly felt comfortable with him. He assured me that I was going to learn the Italian language and all was going to be okay. It’s been a pleasure working with him since.

My lessons with Raphael are very informative. He is extremely knowledgeable, observant, has quickly mastered how I learn and explains the language to me to where I understand it. In addition, he shares fun facts, culture, and history about the language along the way. Plus, he is teaching me how to speak like a native. Raphael an amazing teacher and will help you.

In the meantime I teach yoga, Pilates and my beautiful language, Italian. As a real Sicilian I have a big passion for food and I would love to do some cooking class soon. I love to help students reach their goals; with a little bit of patience and passion I believe everyone has the potential to succeed. Can't wait to meet you!

Rita has bene great for keeping my Italian up. After learning Italian during my years of working in Italy, I had become rusty, not having spoken it for many years, and was looking for a way to retain my abilities. Rita is a great conversationalist, and a great personality. I always have a great time speaking with her during our sessions.

Hi everyone,

I think as an American, I have a unique approach to teaching Italian since I was in the shoes of the student for many years. I began studying Italian more than 12 years ago in high school, and after living in Italy and receiving my MA in Italian, I am still passionate about learning about all things Italian. I have a love and understanding for grammar but I know how to make it fun, not overbearing. I approach teaching with passion and dedication, and I like to keep things lighthearted and include lots of movies, music, and real dialogue, not just drills and exercises.

About Annabelle

Ciao a tutti! I have been teaching Italian since I got my MA in Italian Studies three years ago at Georgetown University. I am American but began studying Italian and visiting Italy on a regular basis when I was in high school. I am still completely enthralled with the Italian language, as well a

Ciao a tutti! Hello everyone! My name is Cindy and I'm Italian. I've been teaching Italian in schools and privately for many years now...I was raised in Rome where I have lived and worked for most of my life.

Do you want to learn Italian in a natural way, outside the bounds of a traditional language school? Studying a foreign language is an absorbing, complex experience.

It involves not only mastering new words, but also gaining a deeper understanding of the culture in which the language is rooted. To achieve this goal I devote all my enthusiasm, my skill at communication, and a sense of humor which makes for a relaxed study environment.

About Cynthia

Are you going on holiday to Italy? Would you like to learn the language? Do you think it is too hard to learn a language as an adult? Do you think you won't have time to study? There are many ways to learn a language. It doesn't have to be all that complicated or hard. Everyone has a personal way to
