I had a great time learning Spanish with Carolina. She was encouraging and made learning easy and fun. I wanted to use my Spanish in real life situations and it really came in handy when I was travelling in Barcelona. I’m still taking lessons from her because there’s always more to learn :) .

I loved having classes with Carolina, I looked forward to them every week! Carolina is very patient and explains things very clearly. I took classes with Carolina when I needed to start using Spanish in my job. Carolina helped me to find a way to express myself in business interactions very specific to my role. I am forever grateful.

About Ai
I started my teaching career when I was a college student. In Japan, I taught both English and Japanese to middle and high school students at a private academy. I have also taught Japanese to adults especially the spouses stationed in Japan and also community college. I have the Master of Education in TESL; therefore, I’ve taught English more vigorously, but know what it takes to be successful at second language acquisition. I really find it rewarding to teach those who are interested in Japanese language and culture.

I like to get to know your learning styles and what motivates you. I will cater to your needs and make your own lesson plan just for you.

I love teaching and discovering my own culture through the eyes of the students. I love to meet new people and just love the people who want to learn a foreign language. It gives you
an opportunity to widen your view of the world!

I’ve also played the piano since I was 3 years old and have the Yamaha certification; therefore, I teach piano too. I also love to play!!

Evelyne volunteered at my daughter’s school while in Canada. She liked to be involved and useful in different school activities involving children of various age groups. She is very reliable and was always patient with the kids. Her love of children was clearly visible at all times. Perhaps more importantly, the children adored her too. Her intelligence, caring nature, sense of humour and her ability to adapt very quickly to the children’s needs makes it easy to highly recommend her for tutoring.

About Chris
Hi, my name is Chris and I am a native speaker and tutor of American English. I have taught people of all ages to improve their English and I can help you too!

In January 2014, I began teaching classes and private lessons in Warsaw, Poland and later in Berlin, Germany. I have also taught in New York City and online via Skype, to people from various countries around the world. My father and his two brothers were all teachers, so I guess that is where I get my natural teaching ability.

I have a bachelor's degree in Sociology from Penn State University, where I also taught some classes. I also have business experience and can teach students to speak and write in English for any situation!

I am very easy going, encouraging, and a great conversationalist. I customize lessons based on each student's skills and goals, as well as favori
te topics, and how they learn best. I am knowledgeable on many subjects, and more importantly, good at getting students talking, no matter what age or background.

REVIEWS:
Below are reviews by some of my former students in Poland from e-korepetycje.net/chrisnyc/jezyk-angielski (translated from Polish into English). I have also taught students from Germany, Hungary, Sweden, Spain, South Korea, Argentina, China, Israel, France, Indonesia, Columbia and Turkey.

"A really good teacher and the great hour-long conversations with him provide guidance not drudgery. He is enthusiastic and cheerful, recommended." - Magda

"I worked with Chris for 3 months, and I'm very happy. We focused on conversation, vocabulary development (based on analysis of interrogated podcasts), and correction of pronunciation. With Chris, any subject can be interesting to talk about." - Wojtek

"He worked with my 10-year-old son Antek, inventing dialogues in English based on the boy's favorite superhero characters and their behavior. Chris is creative and always smiling, and Antek misses the lessons." - Jerzy

"Great lessons with a sense of humor. Conversations require thinking and combining vocabulary (no shortcuts and tips in Polish). Big emphasis on correct pronunciation and vocabulary. In a word, I highly recommend." - Michael

"I can recommend wholeheartedly. We have real discussions, not set topics, and discuss how certain words are challenging for us. From time to time we also have a lesson in which we process words or homophones that are difficult for us (thief/teeth). We strongly recommend to all who want to rise above the level of intermediate." - Pawel

"Chris is a really great conversationalist! He only speaks English, which forces you to think and conduct conversations only in English, which is half the battle! If I do not understand what he says, he will explain it in so many ways that I finally understand. He is a very open person, easy to talk with, problem-free, and has many interests, so you can talk about anything. I would recommend as a native speaker!" - Izabela

Learning languages should be fun! I am a lover of words and if you’re learning a new language, you know how important and empowering words can be. Improving your language skills opens up opportunities in your social and professional life. As a teacher of English and American Sign Language (with over 25 years experience) and a student of French and Spanish, I love finding new ways to help people learn to communicate. I look forward to working with you as you learn to sign ASL or improve your written or spoken English skills.
I have been using American Sign Language since childhood and decided at a young age that I wanted to teach Deaf and hearing students. To support myself through college, I was a nanny and then an educational interpreter for Deaf students. I have also done some interesting interpreting work for Deaf adults. I have taught
sign language to students ranging in age from toddlers to senior adults. Fun fact: I once spent a semester in a French immersion program in Quebec where I did not speak any English for 8 weeks, only French! My teaching degree is from the University of West Florida, near the beautiful beaches of Pensacola. I moved to Virginia last year to enjoy family and to be closer to the Blue Ridge Mountains that I love. I spend my free time visiting historic sites, taking pictures of nature, and playing with my nieces and nephews.
