About Aaron
I was an engineering tutor at University of Texas at Austin from 2006-2009. I graduated from UT with a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering in 2009. I am very familiar with the UT engineering courses (from the beginning to the end).

While I was at UT, I also studied jazz drumming with Brannen Temple. I have been playing professionally for over ten years with lots of different bands. Teaching and playing music are the most gratifying things for me. But I also like to teach math!

I have been teaching high school math, physics, and music theory at Premier High School of North Austin for five years (2009-2014). I am a certified teacher by the state of Texas.

About David
My name is David and I'm a professional musician who just moved to North Austin. I came from Cincinnati, where I went to the University of Cincinnati College Conservatory of Music, taught dozens of students at all levels and played regular gigs every weekend. I have been teaching for over fifteen years, and I'm looking to get a few new students.
I teach guitar, piano, bass guitar and even upright bass. If it's a tutor you are looking for I can also teach music theory and appreciation. I have a knack for teaching young people, probably because I was young when I started my musical journey. I've been very successful at inspiring a student's love of music and instilling the patience required to take on the challenge of playing an instrument.
The first thing I like to do is get to know you, the music you enjoy and your goals. In a way, I l
ike to begin by letting the student lead.
In addition to learning from you, I intend to present you with new information, to try and broaden your musical tastes and teach you how to be an active listener.

About Michael
I am a classically trained and professional musician who has worn many different musical hats over the years. I began playing drums when I was 14, in Houston, TX with Craig LeMay, and since then I have learned many different string and world instruments. I studied music theory and vocal performance at the Florence University of the Arts in Italy, taken sitar lessons from Mita Nag in Kolkatta, India, and jazz performance in Austin, TX with Joey Colarusso. I have played in many different bands over the years, such as accompanying Michael Kiwanuka with the musical saw, accompanying Katie Sachs with the musical saw, playing bass guitar with Halaska and DJing private events with Spacecraft Entertainment. I have been teaching music to special education students, in Austin public schools, and foster children with Kids in a New Groove. I have als
o built and modified many of my own instruments and ready to teach you some quirky musical production skills as well. I believe listening and being adaptable to an individual student's needs are the keys to teaching anyone to express themselves through music.

After studying Spanish for 2 years at the university level and extensive travel to Latin America I am fluent in Spanish in both the academic and conversational sides of the language.

My 8 year old daughter took piano lessons from Michael and she really enjoyed learning the basics in fun ways. He was VERY patient and able to meet her where she was at, but still knew how to challenge her. I would recommend Michael to any beginner level piano player!

Really good teacher. I had never played piano before and Michael was great at instantly giving me things to work on and gave off the impression that lessons were tailored to what I was interested in and the direction I personally wanted to go with the piano. I'd definitely recommend him to anyone else looking for a good instructor in piano or any other musical instrument he works with.

About Veronica
Hello!
I am Italian and since January 2016 I am living in Texas. My goal is to help whoever needs support to learn Italian.

As a teacher I have always taught art and theatre to elementary kids.
Here in Texas I would like to bring my knowledge of Italian focusing on the structure of the language itself and on the slang, in order to be ready to face a real Italian environment.

I speak Italian, English, Spanish and I am now learning French.
I truly believe in the power of a language and in its most "informal" way to be spoken, therefore conversations are going to be a big part of our sessions.

As homework I will recommend Italian movies to watch, Italian music to listen to and books to read, depending on the student's level.

I can travel to students or meet them online.

Feel free to contact me to get more details!
I lo
ok forward to hearing from you and helping you to get into the Italian world!

In the past 10 years, I have lived and worked in the Arab world, was formally educated in Arabic, and taught the Arabic language to an array of students.

I hold a dual degree with honors from The University of Texas at Austin in Psychology and Middle Eastern Languages and Cultures. I studied directly under Mahmoud al-Batal, the esteemed professor and writer of the Al-Kitaab textbook series, Mahmoud al Batal and bec. (Yup, probably that textbook you're using right now.)

With training in both cognition/development and Arabic, I have taught all kinds of people over the past 5 years. My students range from college students to professional educators, humanitarian workers to businessman and politicians, emergency room surgeons to US Army Personnel, and regular people who are just interested in learning the language.

I specialize in o
ne-on-one teaching and make custom lessons for your learning style- Arabic is an awesome language and I will help you learn it well.

Aaron is the third Arabic teacher I've worked and is definitely the best in all respects.

He is very organized and efficient and pleasant to learn from. I've developed much better and structured habits in how I approach my grammar and understanding of Arabic- he made it feel so easy. He challenges me just enough so that I can learn where I need to grow.

Great at teaching at any level.

Highly recommended!

Aaron breaks down his lessons by category which is extremely helpful. Smart and professional man who knows his craft. He can explain the same concept/idea in 10 different ways and won't just 'bypass' anything you aren't completely clear on. Cool guy, patient, worth all my time and money.

Confucius's ancient wisdom states "Choose something you love and you will never work a day in your life." I love teaching Italian! For me it is not work but a labor of love. I grew up in a bi-lingual family, mine is originally from Tuscany and I have family there as well, and I divide my time between Austin and Italy. To hone my professional level Italian, I did a fellowship at Universita' di Siena and studied at La Scuola di Leonardo da Vinci in both Rome and Florence. I've been teaching "la bella lingua" since retiring from my business career in 2005 both in schools and privately. Students do best with private lessons in my opinion. I specialize in teaching adults and do my best to make learning fun and interesting with an emphasis on speaking with confidence rather than endless grammar lessons that some courses offer. I'm anxious to ge

Hello! I am an avid musician around town, a graduate from UT Austin with a B.S. in Mathematcs, and I just finished my first year of service with Americorps teaching literacy! I’m extremely passionate about helping others learn and express themselves. Guitar is a cornerstone of my life and being able to share my 14 years of knowledge with others, guide them, and help them learn to play their favorite music on stage or write their own songs is amazing. From studios downtown, to the stage during SXSW, I offer experience based teaching on everything guitar and music. I have always loved math since I was young and was very excited to study it in college. I understand that this can be a frustrating subject, and I aim to get my students to a high level of preparedness and comfortability that will transfer over into their performance in the class
room and tests. I aim for the same high level of performance in math in reading as well. I have always loved reading but I never knew how to teach this important skill. During my service term with Americorps, I gained the knowledge and skills to teach early literacy and get students reading at grade level or help them get a head start in their elementary school.

Spanish is not my native language, so I can relate to the mixed bag of emotions that come with learning a new language: self-consciousness, excitement, awkwardness (because of those pesky false cognates!) Along the way, I picked up some great strategies for understanding Spanish that I'd enjoy sharing with you.

I have a Bachelors and Masters degree both in Spanish. I studied abroad in Mexico, Spain, and Morocco. This past year, I took continued education coursework in Spanish translation. Just recently, I attended a workshop on language teaching through storytelling, also known as TPRS. It's a useful and unique exercise beneficial to language-learners of all levels.

I look forward to helping you feel more confident for class, pass your Spanish test, or even help you learn the language for work. I tutor full-time, so I am dedicated to cr
eating a personalized lesson plan centered around your needs and interests. ¡Gracias y hasta luego!
