What is my approach? First of all, I listen carefully, very carefully. I believe it is important for an excellent job to know precisely what my client wants to accomplish. Understanding this is the prerequisite to give good advice, guidance and then, of course, a plan, a kind of strategy to follow in order to reach these goals. There will be a permanent interaction between my client and myself to monitor the progress, eventually speed up the tempo or, if necessary, to slow down.
There is no dogma; there is only one main criterion: success.

About Wolfgang
I spent two decades of my professional life teaching English in Germany, authoring and co-authoring textbooks for the English classroom.
During my stay in the US, I had the opportunity to develop curricula for teaching German in public schools as well as private schools and wrote articles in the field of German literature. Undoubtedly, my academic background (MA in German and English and a Ph.D. in the field of education) helps me to provide solid work for my students.

Lessons with Wolfgang S. are always a pleasure. He is highly professional, friendly, and tailored all my lessons exactly to fit my needs and interests. He quickly pinpoints any areas that need help, and offers gentle corrections and suggestions to improve. His teaching methods are always interesting, varied, and fun. I learned a lot not only about grammar and vocabulary, but about German culture, and nuances and history of the language that can only be learned from a native speaker with his teaching experience. His explanations to questions are clear and thorough, and he made sure I understood before moving on. He adjusted the pace to my skills and needs without any pressure. I have definitely improved in all areas since taking lessons with him.

Most highly recommended! I found Wolfgang to be an excellent German instructor for me. As a mature (50+) professional I was looking for a native German with perfect mastery of English and impeccable teaching credentials. Wolfgang fit that description perfectly. He tailored the lessons to my needs and made them fun. Along with the excellent language lessons, I really enjoyed his stories about life in Germany, and especially his hometown of Berlin. Thanks to Wolfgang I am much farther along my journey of learning to speak German.

Using books and online materials, I guide students through grammatical rules, vocabulary and pronunciation, using cultural examples as illustration.

About Diane
Bonjour! Hello! Hallo!

I have been teaching on and off for many years, usually on a one-to-one basis; I taught teenagers and adults. I tailor my lessons to each student's individual needs and I am always ready to go above and beyond the basic lesson. I try to make learning a language fun and alive, through news, stories, and songs.

My method is to provide grammar (very important in French), vocabulary, conversation, reading, and translation in every lesson, and show how important each component is to the whole. I am overjoyed when my students start conversing without need for translation - even if there are errors!

My graduate educational background is in architecture, followed by an MBA in finance. My mother tongue is English; but I learned French at the age of nine when I attended my first French school. I have a French high s
chool diploma (Baccalauréat) and architecture degree, and I am certified to grade French exams from A1 through C1 (university level). Currently I teach after-school, coordinate a museum visit program (en français) and manage a French exam center.
I also attended high school in Germany, in a German high school, for several years, so I am fluent and am now also teaching. Learning languages was a necessity in my childhood. I love to learn, even if by adulthood, it is more difficult to become fluent in a new language. I think the fact of being a lifelong learner helps me better understand my students' needs.

As an avid reader since childhood, my spelling has always been excellent, and I worked as a proofreader. I look forward to helping my students reach their language goals.

About Paul S.

I first started learning German due to a serendipitous move to Oklahoma following my junior year of high school. I have since really grown to love the German language and ended up getting a BA in German Studies (jointly with a BA in Spanish). I really love German literature, whether it's Goethe or Michael Ende, and I really enjoy Beethoven, Mozart, Bach, Händel, and also Lieder (Shubert's "Erlkönig" being my favorite). I am also a huge fan of Die Prinzen. I consider myself an expert in grammar-related topics (including verb conjugation, cases, Konjunktiv I and II, etc.) but am also willing to teach vocabulary, pronunciation, and other topics.

About Paul
I hail from Walla Walla, Washington, home of the "famous" sweet onions. I can't begin to express how much I love languages!! I have studied 8 so far (Spanish, French, German, Japanese, Portuguese, Italian, Swedish, and Dutch) and I teach 5 (Spanish, French, German, Portuguese, and Japanese), and want to keep learning new languages throughout the rest of my life. I love to work with students so that's why I've kept my rates low--to make sure more people can have the opportunity to learn these languages. I have a down-to-earth style and I allow my students to guide their own learning in a student-structured, individualized way. As of June 2019, I have taught multiple students different languages, among whom are three students I have been teaching between 7 and 9 months, who have all improved considerably and continue to progress steadily
. I am positive I can help you come to understand the wonderful world that is language and to learn how amazing it is to be able to say the same thing in so many different ways, and how much better it is to be able to communicate with someone in his/her native language instead of having to resort to English. Let's do this!!

Note: I have not had any connectivity problems for quite a while now so be assured that I can provide quality instruction with no issues.

I've never seen anyone with such a passion and love for languages! I've experienced Paul as a Japanese tutor weekly for many months and he has an amazing grasp of the language and speaks like a native speaker. He gets down on your level and I am very impressed with How he lets you guide the learning at your own pace with a lot of patience an encouragement. Making great progress and excited to learn more! 5 Stars plus!

Dear Students and Parents,

Born and raised in Germany, I graduated from college in 1995 with a degree in special ed and nursing. I came to Texas in 1997 and studied Biology at UTD. I graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Biology and a minor in health care, and I also obtained my teaching certification in composite science (teaching chemistry, biology and physics) and in German.
Currently I am teaching high school science classes (biology, physics, anatomy&physiology) , as well as German 1, 2, 3, and 4 (including pre-AP and AP German) at a local school.
I have been teaching , translating and interpreting German for several years.

I graduated with my Master's degree in science education in 2015, and I am writing curriculum since 2013. Currently I am enrolled for my PhD in biology.

I am offering German lessons for every level, beginner
to advanced, including conversation, test preparation, and reading German literature. Since every student has different interests and needs, I customize the lessons and reading materials to fit the individual student. My specialties are medical and technical German, and business German.

I am tutoring all science subjects from K through 12, and some subjects on a college level as well. Sciences can be hard to understand sometimes, and I am generally able to break down the concepts to make them easier to comprehend, often with the help of manipulatives and hands-on material, such as molecular kits, microscopes, lab experiments, or games.

I teach a dialect of German that some call Pennsylvania Dutch which is spoken by the Amish and Mennonites in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania and Holmes County, Ohio. My parents were born Amish but have since left and I was raised learning this dialect as well as English.

For the sake of clarity, there is a difference between Pennsylvania Dutch and what I call Holmes County German. The difference is mostly in the accent and some words. I am from Holmes County, Ohio and would be teaching you basic vocabulary, phrases and helping perfect your pronunciation of the dialect.

I don't have any experience other than teaching the some useful phrases and vocabulary to some friends who wanted to learn. But I love teaching and especially enjoy teaching the language of my heritage!

About Tamra
Hi, there! My name is Tamra and I can't wait to meet you! I've been teaching private lessons since 2018 and have loved helping my students begin learning a new language, the violin, and basics of music.
I was homeschooled my whole life (and am very proud of it) and completed a High School equivalent GED course. I took violin lessons for 4 years, taught myself piano and voice.
I love languages, and music and am looking forward to sharing what I know with you!

I work remotely, with a team of eight volunteers and we assist between 8 to 12 children every week. We focus on Common Core English Language Arts - spelling, writing, reading, and Elementary Math. My family and I just relocated to Florida - Tampa this time - and we are enjoying the sun!

My husband is of Japanese origin. Being in an interracial marriage and raising a child in a household where multiple languages are spoken, I truly appreciate and understand the importance of learning about different cultures and languages.

Having tutored for many years and being a language student myself (intermediate Japanese), I know how to keep students interested in learning - and I love to work with different materials such as games, books, worksheets and role play to keep it interesting and motivating. I spend some time in Germany each year and purchase new and stimulating learning materials on a regular basis.
