My name is Jenni and I am a professional Latin and Greek teacher with over ten years of experience teaching and tutoring both Latin and Ancient Greek. I have taught professionally at the elementary, junior high, and graduate levels and I hold a Master’s degree in Classical Philology. I currently work at the Polis Institute, where I teach Greek and Latin as living languages to graduate students.
I also have familiarity with spoken Latin and Ancient Greek, and I teach all of my professional courses in a 100% immersion setting. My passion is to show every interested student that they have the capability to master these languages.
With my help, the complicated aspects of these languages will become clear to you, as I help my students learn tools and strategies that they will keep with them in the classroom and out – all in a fun and fr
iendly tutoring environment.
With specifically tailored instruction, either as a supplement to current courses or an education ab initio (i.e. from the beginning), I will work with you to help you access the beautiful literature, history and music of the languages of the Ancient World.
I graduated from the Harvard Graduate School of Education in June 2007 with a Master in Education (Arts in Education) degree. During my studies I worked in the framework of the Artful Adventures Program (Museum of Fine Arts in Boston), which provides object - based learning and hands on artistic experiences for elementary and middle school kids. My own research was about “Creative Insight in Practice" and "Acquiring English as a Second Language and Developing Self-Esteem through the Idiom of Art". I have more than a two decades-long experience in painting, drawing, printmaking and installation work. The images I use in my work are mostly based on self-made or collected photos or drawings from nature combined with literature or self-made phrases. I use digital tools in order to layer text, photos and drawings and combine them to a new work.
Photo and text based collages will often merge into drawings or watercolors and these are the starting point for my large scale oil paintings.

Kerstin is a fantastic teacher. She connected right away with my daughter Chloe who is 8 years old and immediately engaged and had her learning German after 1 lesson. She is punctual and professional. I highly recommend her.

She was absolutely patient and was able to work with and engage my son who has a learning disability. She did a great job making him feel comfortable and after only one session I could see his confidence go up as he continued to draw into the evening. She really enjoys what she does and it shows in the way she worked with my son.

Hola estudiantes! I am a native Spanish speaker born and raised in Buenos Aires, Argentina. I attended the University of Buenos Aires and received my bachelor’s degree in Human Resources from that institution. I have been teaching spanish in the US for more than 6 years !! I worked as a Human Resources Generalist and in charge of Recruitment processes in an very important and prestigious US Government entity. I have been speaking English throughout my entire life and have fluent command in reading, writing, listening and speaking the English language. Furthermore, my past position in a US Government entity in Buenos Aires and my experience here in the United States have developed my knowledge and understanding of American culture and communication. Both the Spanish language and Latin culture are becoming more present in the United State
s. I truly love my culture and my language, so the opportunity to teach them to other people who are from a different background excites me. Since I am from Argentina, I will offer a unique perspective to the students on what life is like in South America. I will serve as an example for what it is like to listen to a native speaker and I will be able to evaluate student’s speech from the viewpoint of a native speaker. I have a great appreciation for American culture and have several years of experience working with American teenagers and adults while working at the US Government entity in Buenos Aires. I managed the Internship Program which gave students an opportunity to gain work experience and improved their Spanish skills like comprehension, reasoning, understanding , writing and speaking. They really enjoyed having their latin american experience. Since my husband is American , I have been teaching him for almost six years and he is making progress. He is very happy and very excited in learning new words, expressions and idiomas and he is working very hard to become fluent in Spanish I love to be a spanish tutor because I like to help others, transmit my knowledge and improve students communication skills. I also do think tutoring improves creativity and independence. Tutoring provides greater congruence between teacher and learner, improves academic performance and personal growth. Motivates self-paced and self-directed learning and fosters self esteem and self confidence. I am very a passionate and hard working person and i believe that being a tutor in Spanish is a very rewarding and interesting experience for me and for my students. I am very patient, a good listener and I want to generate a relaxing teaching and learning environment and also create and keep a good and professional relationship with students. I can teach spanish for beginners. intermediate and advanced students. I can help with a simple homework, preparation for an exam and also teach and improve writing, reading, listening and speaking skills. I am willing to teach to either young people or adults. I am very excited and happy to be a tutor and i am looking forward to hearing and meeting you and starting to teach and learn about the amazing Spanish language and latinamerican culture. Should you have any concern about my education and work experience, I can provide supporting documents ( certification of services, bachelors degree certificate, green card resumes, evaluations, etc).
Muchas gracias y espero que se comuniquen conmigo !

I am a college level jazz musician.
My primary instruments are jazz guitar and upright bass.
Growing up I have always wanted to sing but never could find a qualified teacher.
Luckily, after extensive research online for vocal teachers I discovered Kara.
I have been taking lessons with her for a while now and she's wonderful.
I always have many questions for her in my lessons and she always has a knowledgable response.
I feel like I'm progressing and finally learning how to sing properly with someone who knows their stuff.
I would highly recommend studying with her.

I’m a self taught french speaker and a language enthusiast. I’ve been speaking french fluently and with a native-like accent for the past three years. While I was born and raised in the state of Ohio, I did eventually have the opportunity to live in Montélimar, France for a year during a cultural and linguistic exchange where I studied the french language and its literature.
I’ve put the knowledge I’ve gained as a self-learner into a student-teacher based approach revolving around interesting topics specific to the student, music, as well as other mediums.
