I recently began taking lessons with Hannah and it has been a wonderful experience. I went in intimidated at the thought of learning such a difficult language from scratch, but Hannah has been a very helpful and encouraging instructor and makes the language so much more manageable. I've been rather amazed by how much Korean I have been able to pick up in such a short time and have no doubt that I can become fluent eventually under her instruction. Anyone interested in learning Korean should absolutely take lessons with Hannah!

My son and I had our first lesson with Hannah. It went very well. Hannah is engaging and patient. She really understands that studying Korean is no easy feat and takes the time to explain things to e Janice our comprehension.

I’ve taken a few classes with Hannah and learned a lot. Her style is patient, but in a way that challenged me to work hard and learn as much as possible, quickly and efficiently. She always came prepared to teach, has great classroom management skills and her lessons are engaging. If you would like to learn Korean, sign up now - you won’t be disappointed!

About Douglas

I combine my two decades of experience as a professional tutor and corporate writer with my own personal understanding of the learning struggles faced by students to create unique methods for every student to learn, regardless of the subject. I use creative innovations to make learning fun and enjoyable for my students. My students quickly see how much I care for their progress and success. Many have chosen to retain me as their tutor for more than a year.

I had the opportunity to work with Douglas a number of times during my tenure as a part-time instructor at SCORE Educational Center. What I noticed about him was that he related very well to the children he worked with - he was a very enthusiastic tutor of English and math! He was most generous with the "high fives" and praise, and he also knew how to get students back on track if their focus strayed. Also, I saw him work very well with the parents; he always took the time to patiently explain lesson plans and students' progress between sessions. I have known Douglas personally for many years. He was the one who encouraged me to work at SCORE Educational Center given my background in Education - I thank him for that because I enjoyed my time there very much while I was able to stay (unfortunately, I had to leave that position for a full-time job elsewhere). SCORE Educational Center is no longer in existence. Douglas currently works as an independent tutor, and given how long I've seen clients stick with him, I have no doubt that they are enjoying the same level of attention and enthusiasm he provided at SCORE. When he speaks about the progress of independent clients and how they respond to him, it is with enthusiasm and a glowing smile. If you are looking for a tutor that is intelligent, dedicated, enthusiastic, and simply great with kids and parents, then Douglas is your man.

About Tamari (Tamara)

Hi, there! I'm Tamara and I can't wait to meet you!

On social media and for those who are more familiar, I'm Tamari. We all learn in different ways; some are more visual; others, auditory; some, kinesthetic--I combine a number of different modalities in my teaching, including direct feedback-teaching--once you learn a concept or skill, teach it, as soon as you possibly can, to someone else! -- this reinforces your own knowledge of the skill or concept!
I've been teaching private lessons for many years and have loved helping my students acquire new skills, master new pieces, and prepare for concerts and performances. Over the years, my younger students have earned Blue and Gold ratings at the Young Musicians' Festival in Fairfield U., some of them earning gold cups: This is a statewide event to encourage long-term commitment

to the art, discipline and joy of music making.
I attended Indiana University's distinguished Jacob School of Music where I earned a Masters in Piano Performance, and Composition in the '90's. I sang all types of vocal music as well as prepared singers with vocal coaching and voice development techniques 20+ years.
I'm fun loving, patient, and optimistic-- these traits carry through in my teaching style,
One Size does NOT fit all--I approach the lesson plans for each student tailored to your learning style.
Over the past 23 years, my life experiences have encompassed other disciplines and compelled me to learn and acquire many other skills: my liberal arts as well as fine arts education lent itself to helping me work administrative jobs and even expanded into sales and public speaking. I have coached after school and SAT preparation to High School and College age students, helped with the preparation of legal and analytical documents, creative writing and editing assignments; and even tutored computer, social media and Microsoft Office & iWork Suite of applications to older adults. Within the 10 most recent years, I served as Music Director in Catholic, Methodist, Presbyterian and Lutheran Churches, as it is my firm conviction that Music is a universal language which can help deepen the prayer experience while helping to bring comfort and joy.

I look forward to helping you reach your goals

I have known Tamari professionally for fifteen years.
She is an excellent music teacher for piano and voice. Her expertise is noticeable as she patiently meets her student at his/her level and guides that student to the next step.
The process is perfect for any student, even if developmentally challenged and for any age. I highly recommend Tamari.

I've been consistent weekly taking yoga lessons from Tamari at the Y in Canaan CT. I try not to miss it. She's a compassionate and caring yoga teacher and will trailer her classes to fit your needs. Her classes are good for newbies and seniors and those who want a simple class. No athletics. Hatha Yoga are basic yoga stretches that will make you feel good after participating . My aches and pains are gone after each session. To be continued....

Tamara is a very highly qualified, and extremely capable musician and instructor. While away on a leave from my position as music director at a local church, Tamara planned and provided the music for services, and led the congregation's music programs in my absence. While I was away, it was a great comfort to know that Tamara provided quality music for each service. In addition to demonstrating an extraordinary level of musicianship, Tamara is a dependable, and dedicated professional. I am pleased to provide my strongest recommendation!

About Julia

Hi! I am a hearing actress, who has been learning and teaching ASL for 20 years! (how can that be when I'm only 29?? hahaha). Although I initially took a class because I wanted increase my skills as an actress, I stuck with it because I loved the language! I co-created an ASL textbook with one of my Deaf teachers, and we're preparing to take it live with an app, online access, and hard copy. I love to teach, have a pretty good sense of humor, and I enjoy creating a nurturing environment for learning.

A Beginner's Guide to Korean Speech Levels

By Maile Proctor

When you're learning Korean, you will be introduced to different Korean speech levels. Each level is used to express a certain amount of respect or courtesy to the person or group you're addressing. Learn the different levels of speech with Korean teacher Bryce J.... Fundamentally, parts of Korean speech are formed by stringing together smaller units to create words and phrases. This idea is seen in many languages, including English. To illustrate this, let’s look at the word needles …
