About Anna
Do you need the magic pill that will help you speak the language? The recipe is here. If you do the assignments I give you (no need to search for any extra materials), I can assure you that soon you will be able to speak and understand.

I am a highly qualified NYC-based Russian and English language teacher with a degree in linguistics/teaching and more than five years of experience. During the years of my teaching practice, I have developed several teaching methods, which I use in my classes. Together we will establish clear objectives for our lessons and will work on your grammar proficie
ncy, listening and speaking skills, and accent neutrality.

I am a strict teacher :) Seriously. You have a goal and I am here to help you get there, whether it is to be able to negotiate with your business partners, speak to your family members or read "War and Peace" in original. I will work hard to help you reach it, but I expect you to fulfill your part of a deal.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them here using the "Ask a question" button. If you have already decided that you need to speak Russian or English, do not postpone it for another day, month or year. Click the green button and let's do it.
I am looking forward to starting our language journey!

P.S. You can see me in action on my YouTube channel "Anna Cher: Russian from the Heart": https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC3r_jGuhcb7D48Vh0pakNcA

*****
Some technical aspects:

- All materials are provided and included into the price of a lesson

- Recommended frequency of lessons: minimum of 2 times per week (duration of each lesson – 1-1.5h). Learning a language is like going to the gym: to get the muscles, you have to practice regularly.

- If you would like to have a class at a specific time and it is not available in my calendar, please send me a message. I may be able to change some things around and accommodate your request.

- I try to be flexible and modify my schedule based on your needs. But please be considerate and let me know 24 hours in advance if you need to reschedule or cancel a class.

Thank you!

I love my instructor - no problems with her at all. The issue is the audio quality. Maybe it's just my connection but it cuts out about 25% of the time making it very difficult to understand and follow along.

Japanese and everything about Japan is my passion. I first started learning Japanese in high school and studied abroad in Japan through AFS for a year while living with a host family. While I was there I passed level 2 of the Japanese Language Proficiency Test (JLPT), a first for any AFS student at the time. I went on to attend the Japanese language school Yamasa in Aichi, Prefecture and then passed level 1 of the JLPT at age 20. Afterward, I attended Nanzan University where I graduated from the Business Management Department in 2009. Since graduating I have worked as a freelance translator an
d interpreter for 9 years.

Through my experiences learning Japanese and living in Japan I can answer any questions you may have about the language or culture. I enjoy teaching everyone from beginner's to those studying advanced Japanese to enter a university or work in Japan. Unlike a native Japanese speaker, I am able to systematically explain grammar and other technical areas in a way that will make sense. You can then quickly utilize these techniques to accelerate your own learning.

Each lesson will be tailored to the specific area you would like to study and improve. If you would like to work on conversational Japanese for instance, I can teach you informal Japanese so you can have conversations with friends or dive deeper into a hobby you may have such as anime, J-pop or video games. Learning in a fun and relaxing atmosphere is important and will help you learn quicker and retain information.
