When you're applying to college, you only get one shot. So it's essential that you make it count.
Last year I guided struggling students to acceptance at Columbia University, University of Chicago, Emory University, New York University, Hamilton College, and the Masters in Sustainable Business program at Cambridge University.
Most of these students had test scores below the range of their target school. So how did they get in? Their applications stood out, because they wrote a stand-out essay.
With 15 years of tutoring experience, an advanced degree from Harvard, and a Fulbright scholarship, I know that a great essay can make or break an application. It's all about defining how you think, expressing what makes you unique, and following the tenets of great storytelling.
With a trusted guide, anything is possible.
I lead students through each phase of the admissions process: researching schools, organizing their timeline, crafting a resume, and writing exceptional personal and ...
My priority is to help you grow. And everyone learns differently. That's why all of my tutoring is 100% individualized. I teach according to your goals, your learning style, and your challenges. My students get results because their learning is tailored to their needs. I'm a professional teacher
General Note: I majored in Spanish undergrad, and have explored a number of different way to continue learning in NYC - group classes and language programs have their value but can not complete with in-person, 1v1 instruction.

I have developed a natural teaching method that focuses on learning and understanding the building blocks of drum set playing, familiarizing and connecting these building blocks, and applying them to individual expression. I have the ability to take nearly anyone without prior drum set or rhythmic experience, and, within days, turn them into beat playing drummers! My approach focuses on:
-building an understanding and relationship with each drum
-the basic rudimentary foundation of drumming
-how to approach the drums, hold the sticks, set up the drums, and tune the drums
-basic mechanical techniques
-development of each limb
-learning how to read basic drum charts and play to them
-learning and playing the most significant beats and patterns in the history of drum set
-gaining the ability to effectively teach oneself how to improve as a drummer
-learning your favorite songs on drums
-how to play in a band

To me, learning any instrument is about balancing the exercises with the fun material that makes you want to keep playing. I am a technique-focused teacher insofar as making sure any student of mine is avoiding bad and sometimes unhealthy habits in their playing. I do, however, try to find fun ways to work on technique, with the end goal being playing repertoire that is fun for the student. I believe technical exercises have their place in learning any instrument, but that it's important to spend the majority of your practice time on material which is ultimately enjoyable to play.
I do have certain sets of books I like to follow depending on the student's interests and age, but I am always happy to tweak the lesson plan to fit the student's needs. I also tend to supplement whichever books I'm using with material of my own, to make sure we're also covering important topics such as music theory and maybe a bit of relevant music history in the process.
