About Jennifer
I have been an avid teacher of Latin for the past six years. I graduated with a BA in Latin, and after spending a year teaching English in Thailand, I came back to teach Latin. I am certified in Latin, English, and ESL in one state and will soon be certified in another. I have taught both in public and private schools, and will be teaching Latin at a local private school next year. My favorite aspect of teaching is making the subject fun and accessible for every student. I am incredibly passionate about Latin and I regard it as a great intellectual challenge to help each student to be suc
cessful. I am experienced in tailoring my instruction to different learning styles as well as any learning difficulties. I look forward to getting to know you and sharing my love of Latin and English.

Mrs. Jerger was the best teacher I had in High school! She taught in a way that was intriguing and made you want to understand the content. She included various games, activities, and different teaching strategies for each student to help them learn in a different way. There was never a dull moment in the classroom. Her constant positive attitude and love for teaching always put a smile on everyone's face. I took her class for 2 different years and enjoyed them both so much! I was also involved in the National Latin Honors Society that she created at my high school and thoroughly enjoyed that as well! I would recommend her 100% and would love to take more classes from her! She's awesome!

Magistra Jerger, as we referred to her in my classes at Allatoona High School, is the best Latin teacher that I have ever had. In addition to this, she is one of the best teachers that I have had from all disciplines. She makes the subject fun and interesting, and allows her students to relate to the material. I have taken her Latin II, Latin III and Latin IV classes during my time in High School, and throughout all of them I can say that it was and interesting and enjoyable experience. One of the more enjoyable classes was Latin IV, where we translated Caesar in his conquest of the Gauls and Britons. We had assignments that were fun, interesting, and that helped to convey the material and the actions of what was going on in the translations.
In addition to taking Latin classes by Magistra Jerger, I also was involved in the Junior Classical League at Allatoona High School that she oversaw. During my Senior year at Allatoona, I was involved in the club as the Vice President where the leadership as well as Magistra Jerger organized Latin and Roman themed events that made the experience of being a student of Latin feel more enjoyable than other languages.
In short, Magistra Jerger is a dedicated, passionate teacher of Latin, who has a legacy of fine Latin students. Even after two years of graduating and continuing in college, without being able to continue studying Latin, I can pick up some of the texts and understand the language. This is because of the great teaching I had from Magistra Jerger. I recommend you to be her student if you want to not only understand the language, but also the culture, and enjoy doing so.

I can take clients from 4 to 99 !

The focus has changed considerably as we have opened up a brick and mortar home school for our granddaughter of which I am headmaster.

We are asking friends and family, and parents to help with the construction which will be swift, and completed quickly!

MAKE A SUMMER BOOK AT HOME! Video coming soon!

Summer Classes are available to book now! Art, Music, Environmental Awareness (Bugs, birds, squirrels, sounds in your neighborhood). Personal Awareness of others; teaching children how not to hurt other people feelings by examples that regard age a
ppropriate answers.

This is good for my online students, in that there will be a camera feed directly into the classroom. Once you have followed the process to secure me as your instructor, you will receive the URL to that private video link and join our classroom.

This will be especially exciting for special needs children that do not get to leave home to go to school; our grand daughter will in fact have to leave the house to travel to the converted garage in which the school is located. This short trip excites and engages her in her day and the path it takes. Many may think "what is the point," cognitive abilities have a wide range of needs that must be met for a person to progress through life.

As for people like our grand daughter there must be a higher standard, we make the mark very high so she can have all the choices at her finger tips even if she can't implement them herself she deserves the opportunity to HEAR, and TOUCH her way through life.

Understanding what is said is cognitive achievement!
Following directions is cognitive achievement (even if there is a delay in response)
Repeating actions day to day and after a lapse of time [is"cognitive recall" or cognitive memory] event or actions are reintroduced, student is then responding to that "recall."

I believe all people in any state should be stimulated and engaged to learn or be taught something daily.

For more information on how join the home school for special needs individuals, please book a class in the near future and give your child or grandchild the opportunity to join a classroom with classmates to grow IN TO FRIENDS!

ASK a QUESTION!!

Kind Regards,

Gayle Williams

Gayle was very patient with me. That is saying a lot. I have a problem with computers not doing things for me. We did run into that problem, so she sent me a step by step instruction sheet with pictures on it. That helped.

I am pretty new at computers so Gayle has given me hope there is a place for an older person being able to navigate the Windows operating systems. and these smart phones.

I think her style of teaching or tutoring, is impeccable-never once did she let on I didn't know what I was doing. She made me feel comfortable and was up-front what I needed to do and allowed me to do it myself. I learn best if I do things myself.

She has given me a way to do basic Windows actions, email, internet and most important of all access Netflix!

I highly recommend Gayle for any of the classes she teaches. Computers are not my strong area- but with Gayle's help now I can help my veteran buddies get on the VA sites and conduct business. I can help other apply for jobs and navigate a resume and basic things we all should know now no matter how old we get.

Good going Gayle!

About Youngju
Dear Prospective Students,

I know how to teach you the Korean language EFFECTIVELY and QUICKLY.

I’m a CERTIFIED teacher with 30 YEARS EXPERIENCE, from elementary school to college. I have had many international teaching experiences and live with a multilingual family. I also completed the Program for Training Korean Language Instructors for Foreigners. This means I am aware of what the most difficult problems are when students learn Korean and I can provide the most simple and effective ways to acquire the language quickly.

I am confident that I can teach you authentic Korean at AN
Y LEVEL.

I finished my academic history as far as the phd (I never finished my dissertation, alas). I received my Masters degree and completed all of my post graduate work at Seoul National University, which a point of particular pride with me; after all, Seoul National University is the Harvard of Korea. I have a number of published works in my academic association's annual journal. And I have a Certification in Reading and Essay Instruction.

I also know KOREAN VALUES and CULTURE inside and out.

I was born in Korea and spent most time of my life there in a traditional family. I have a deep understanding of Korea and its history and life style which I could share with you. If you want to learn how to cook Korean food such as kimchi, seaweed rolls(sushi) or jabchea(noodles), of course, I can teach you! I’m a housewife, too!!

I can give you ADVICE about getting GOOD JOBS in Korea.

I taught in Korean public schools as a homeroom teacher, art teacher and English teacher. Most of my responsibilities as an English teacher were executed with native English teachers. As you know, there are many qualified English speakers in Korea who want to be full time English teachers. I worked with teachers from EPIK(English Program In Korea), TaLK(Teach and Learn in Korea) and even Fulbright scholars. Native English teachers and I worked together very well; indeed, I won an award, due, if I may say so, to my organizational pedagogical contribution. I interviewed prospective teachers, taught them how to teach and prepare classes, how to get along with students and other colleagues, housing matters, and so forth. (In addition, I can give you advice on how to apply to a Korean University and handle an interview as my husband taught for many years in Korean Universities.)

I am a certified and experienced teacher who can help you with your ambitions and needs with Korean.
Let’s have fun while improving your Korean Language ability on Skype, at my home, or at your place at your convenience!
I’m totally ready to work with you.

Let's get together!! See you then!!

******
I would like to post answers to questions that my prospective students usually put to me about my Korean lessons.

Q: Are you good with VISUAL LEARNERS and VERBAL LEARNERS ?

A: Yes, I'm good at that. I'm a trained teacher of Korean with more than 30 years experience.

I would like to say my teaching style varies depending on the learner's condition: age, learning style, present level in Korean, purpose of getting lesson, etc. What I usually do is use visual materials, songs and even physical gestures for children, since they have not fully developed their logical reasoning and use of abstractions. I also introduce online Korean practice programs. I also use these with adult learners who are totally beginners. Generally speaking, visual, audio and TPR approaches are more effective for beginners.

I give learners lots of chances to express what they are learning. I always link their Korean knowledge between what they learned and what they are learning. I give homework as much as they can handle, too. Regarding writing, we can share simple words or sentences on the Skype and the more you are advanced the more things we can do. One of my advanced learners is writing a diary and proofreads with me when we start every class.

Q: WHERE DO YOUR LESSONS START AT? Do they start with learning how to put the vowels and consonants together or just starting off with words you need to know?

A: Again, mine are individualized lessons. One of my students wants to just learn how to communicate verbally in Korean. It means he doesn’t care about written Korean. If the learner already knows the Korean alphabet and knows how Korean syllables are structured then I don’t need to repeat it. I don’t prolong the process or time without reason. Other than that, I start from vowels and consonants and how to combine them, and how to make sounds, and read, etc.

Q: Do you teach how to properly READ KOREAN?

A; I teach learners how to read Korean and let them read it and correct their mistakes. My pronunciation is very clear. Prior to my more than 20 years teaching history, I had worked for a Korean public TV station, KBS, as a reporter.

Q: Do you teach FORMAL and INFORMAL KOREAN because I know there is a difference between them.

A: Yes, I teach formal and informal Korean both, in addition to the Korean basic sentence structure. Of course, if you want to learn specific form only then I can do it for you. As I said, it’s all up to you.

Q: How do I PAY for the lessons?

A: All of the administrative work happens through takelessons.com except the actual class. It means you have to pay to takelessons.com. You can find how to do this on "How it Works" on the main page of takelessons.com homepage
(https://takelessons.com/students/how-it-works).

Q: WHERE the lessons occur?

A: My lessons have four possible venues.

1. At your place (presently not available): To know my travel area, pleace check "Select a location" on the top right of this my profile page( https://takelessons.com/profile/youngju-s1?online) in the box.

2. At teacher's place(presently not available): If you live in Baltimore and can come to my place then you can take face-to-face lessons. That is a choice too.

3. Online: Online lessons are conducted through live 1-on-1 video chats using my personal meeting room.

4. Online TakeLessons Classroom: I also teach online group classes.

Q: When the lessons are AVAILABLE?

A: You can find my availability at "View availability" on the top right of this profile page( https://takelessons.com/profile/youngju-s1?online) in the box. Once a schedule is set, the classes occur according to it. You can reschedule whenever you need to, just for a short time or longer as long as both sides are available.

Q: Is there some way we can schedule a "TRIAL" session with you?

A: Actually, I handle all requests through takelessons.com's direct messaging system until students are officially on my roster. You and I will receive all our contact info once you book lessons and we can communicate directly then. Sorry, this means there can be no trial session short of five lessons, which is the minimum they allow. But trust that 100% SATISFACTION is GUARANTEED!! :-)

I hope that I gave you the answers what you are looking for. If you have more questions then never hesitate to ask. I welcome questions from learners!!

I love having Youngju as my Korean teacher! She is a great teacher. I've been taking lessons from her for a few months now, after trying to learn on my own, and I definitely feel like I've improved. She explains things well and I am understanding the language a lot better than I did before. She's also quite flexible if you have to reschedule a lesson. I took a trip to Korea and she prepared for me some useful phrases the lesson before I went and it helped so much. I was able to speak in mostly Korean while I was there and it went well. I was able to do some shopping, take the subway/taxis/buses, and order food in Korean with very little problems. I'm excited to keep learning with her!

If only I could give more than 5 stars. Youngju is the absolute best instructor ever, she does a great job tailoring her lessons to the student's comfort and needs, and is available to answer questions seemingly 24/7. I texted her while I was in Korea, expecting her to reply when it was morning in the states, and she answered within 10 minutes. Youngju, when do you sleep?
I've tried out lessons in many subjects with many instructors on this site and have yet to find one who lives up to Youngju. I'm spoiled. Thanks so much for all your help Youngju!

Detra has been such a blessing to our family. She came to our home to evaluate our 7-year old daughter who has struggled with reading. She had a great rapport with our daughter, made her feel comfortable and even have fun during the evaluation. She has a patient and positive demeanor and put our daughter at ease. She then spent over an hour with me (her mom), going over the results of the evaluation and recommending steps to work on. Since that time, she has answered my many questions, offering additional resources and encouragement. Looking forward to having her work more with our daughter. Highly recommend Detra!

Ms. Damskov showed amazing love and care for my child and her job. She enthusiastically learned as much as she could about each subject so that she could teach it back to my struggling 8 year old. She is a wonderful tutor and teacher that I would readily send any of my 4 children to. I have full confidence that any of Ms. Damskov's students will not only do well under her, but far excel any expectations.
Your student will develop a love of learning under Ms. Damskov's teaching.
