My teaching curriculum emphasizes on proper breathing and vocal placement to ensure vocal improvement within a few weeks of lessons. All of these terms may sound scary, but I believe that singing should be a joyful experience and one that will be a positive change in your life and those around you. I teach all genres of music and specialize in audition preparation. I want my students to reach their musical potential and aspirations while having a blast.

Classical guitar students start with five subjects.
1) Technique is concerned with the development of the physical mechanics involved in playing the instrument.
2) Scales are a part of basic music vocabulary and building blocks of the musical language.
3) Chords are also basic vocabulary of the musical language.
4) Note reading is not required for every student. It really depends on the students' goals. However, I strongly encourage everyone learn to read musical notation, (more than tablature). Literacy in reading music is analogous to literacy in reading in our English language. Can you imagine how much smaller our world would be if we couldn't read?
5) Classical repertoire (songs) utilize the skills and concepts of all the previously mentioned subjects and are the goal of studying music. And by the way, they are really fun to play.
A beginning student will practice all these subjects as part of the daily practice routine. A half hour practice session will ...

As a teacher, I work to ensure your experience is educational and fun. I use a straightforward approach to teaching theory and technique, with a three-part lesson plan adapting to your skill level and interest:
1 Proficiencies: Playing scales, arpeggios, chords, chord inversions, chords with bass lines, chord melody chord progressions, techniques, basic music theory, and more.
2 Reading: Identifying single notes in all positions, reading chord symbols, and reading chords and melody together. Reading rhythms.
3 Song Repertoire: Learning and appreciating songs, understanding the theory used in the song development, incorporating emotions and dynamics into the song, and learning how to apply learned proficiencies to master the songs and add personal improvisational touches to the songs.
Each student is monitored with a checklist that follows the three categories so we can identify strengths and weaknesses as students progress through different musical styles. The checklists help ...

He is experienced and works well in the current distance-only training environment. He's a very personable and engaging guy, which can be quite important when you're spending hours a day with someone. :)
But what I consider to be his best trait is his ability to assess the needs of the student and adapt his approach as needed, not just to work more on the areas where the student may need more practice, but to see what is working for a student and what is not and then to be willing to completely change his pedagogy to fit that student. This pedagogical flexibility is indeed rare to find in a teacher and, to me, this is what makes Philippe truly special."
